You are right.
Meanwhile OpenViewerFX moved to GitHub and thing get clearer for me:
I am not sure that this pacakge is indeed still needed.
For now I will focus on the OpenViewerFX package.
The probability is high that I abandon this package:
I will let you know and I will clean the place if it happens.

I can now reproduce this issue on my box with pbuilder (it did not
show up at the time of uploading):
I have just filed a ticket issue on GitHUB:

At the time of uploading, the source had an intricate name and was at source
forge.
Meanwhile the upstream maintainer moved from SF to GitHub:
https://github.com/IDRSolutions/maven-OpenViewerFX-src

Currently there is no name issue because there is no name.
I can managed the downloading and the version checking with the recent uscan
(version 4)
[thanks to Paul Wise]: I emitted an issue about this lake of tag, still in
progress:
https://github.com/IDRSolutions/maven-OpenViewerFX-src/issues/3

I am not sure about that because OpenViewerFX is mainly a library.
Nevertheless, there are some samples: I will have a look.
This issue is minor compare to the building failure.

The Debian material has been clean up and refresh wrt to the new upstream
source git
repository at GitHub.

let me ask for a couple of changes before:

* debian/rules:
  + that override_dh_installman is useless, please remove it
  + umh, why do you explicitely export CPPFLAGS? I haven't tried by
dh_auto_build already exports it itself in compat level 9

I saw a comment about the --security arguments to hdparm being
somewhat unreliable.

And, probably more important, we we are waiting for Stefan to review the

upcoming lirc package turns things upside down: libirman is a plugin

I have forwarded both those issues upstream [1], which combined with
your pull request will hopefully result in being able to use the
tarball directly and indeed remove the extra complexity caused by the
use of git submodules once a new version is released.

I'll work on the remaining issues (debian/control, debian/copyright) in
the meantime, and once the new version is released will make sure that
all references to the github repository are removed in favour of the
PyPi tarball, and get everything ready for a final cleanup.

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "flashybrid"

* Package name: flashybrid
  Version : 0.19
  Upstream Author : Joeyh Hess initial
* URL : http://hacks.slashdirt.org/sw/flashybrid/
* License : GPLv2 or later
  Section : admin

It builds those binary packages:

flashybrid - automates use of a flash disk as the root filesystem

To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

http://mentors.debian.net/package/flashybrid

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/f/flashybrid/flashybrid_0.19.dsc

As the current Maintainer isn't capable for uploading anymore, i talk to him to
get permission to take maintainership
of this package. The Package indicates the maintainership change and leaves the
original maintainer as Uploader. (See Bug #784890).
The permit isn't public available, but the current maintainer can be contacted.

Currently the Package isn't functional with the latest systemd bind mount
modifications on an Jessie/systemd system.

Changes since the last upload:

 flashybrid (0.19) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   [ Thibaut VARENE ]
   * Fix init to cope with systemd new bind mount defaults (Closes: #784890)
 .
   [ Tim Weippert ]
   * New maintainer upload
   * Changed Uploaders for Thibaut VARENE
   * Added italian translation (Closes: #778383)

Regards,

I need some additional help to make sure the binaries are installed
correctly with install-strip rather than install and I would appreciate
comments and criticism regarding the debian packaging.

This is precursor work to a PAM library that requires this library to
work. This library also works standalone for any C applications that
needs to integrate e.g. libnss, slapd plugins, etc.

Description: Python2 light-weight knowledge manager
 Collective Knowledge Framework and Repository (CK)
 is a small and portable Python application to organize,
 cross-link, share and reuse research artifacts.
 CK helps decompose complex and hardwired experimental
 workflows into unified and reusable components
 with simple JSON API and meta-description shared via GitHub
 or any other web service. CK can complement Docker
 and Virtual Machines while helping researchers
 quickly prototype their ideas from shared components
 as LEGO(TM), crowdsource experiments, share knowledge,
 reproduce results and create interactive articles.
 Full documentation and results of GCC/LLVM crowdtuning
 (collaborative program optimization and machine learning)
 are available at https://github.com/ctuning/ck/wiki
 and http://cknowledge.org/repo
 .
 This is the Python 2 version of this package.

Pape was so kind in another similar issue about giving comaintenance of a
package
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=790125#70

so, you might consider this "appliable" to all the packages he has?

Not sure, but lack of time is an issue, and help should be appreciated

I forgot to add: in the case you need to make somebody aware of the bug
report you're filing, you should use X-Debbugs-CC (either as a real or
pseudo header). Then debbugs will send the bug report to that address
after having assigned the bug number, and adding the bug address to the
recipients.

And BTW, dunno how, you did mail d-mentors without keeping 816363@b.d.o
in CC, so the bug did not contain your message. I bounced your email,
and "fixed" the recipients.

Usually for a NMU that's ok. Maybe you can consider fixing the most
important errors, but in a NMU you refrain from doing too many changes
(unless ACKed by the maintainer, or in some special situations).

maybe pape is willing to either orphan or anyway givign up on the
maintainship.
since Feb 8th only 3 weeks are passed, in Debian that's not considered
too much to wait, at all. If you look at the email I linked before
you'll noticed he replied after more than that.

If pape gives up the package I'll be only happy to see another package
being updated to the newer standards :)

yes, you have to sign them.
By default the key is searched with a match on the debian/changelog last entry.
You can override it by exporting
export DEBEMAIL='youremail'
export DEBFULLNAME='name surname'
export DEBSIGN_KEYID='key fingerprint'
export DEB_SIGN_KEYID='key fingerprint'

debsign doesn't pay attention to any of these environment variables.
To specify key ID for debsign, you should put DEBSIGN_KEYID in the
configuration file ~/.devscripts.

Excellent point Ginfranco

That will help me for sure when I had all the changes on package
ready to upload. I was trying to build it for testing purposes, so as my
very much appreciated debian mentor told me, adding the options -us -uc
 would suffice.

Does your changes require signing them or am I missing something ?

Thank you very much for this file: it would have been taken ages to me to
understand how to write something similar.

During these days, I:
- integrated the watch file in the Debian package;
- imported latest upstream revision of openfst 1.5.1;
- discussed with upstream about tarball versioning and soname;
- added a new patch 1008_fix_linking_issues.patch, replacing and extending
unresolved_symbols.diff.

I hope the package is now in a better state for upload.

Bests,
Giulio
