Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

  Dear mentors,

  I am looking for a sponsor for my package "arc-theme"

 * Package name: arc-theme
   Version : 20170302-1
   Upstream Author : horst3180
 * URL : https://github.com/horst3180/arc-theme
 * License : GPL-3+
   Section : misc

  It builds those binary packages:

arc-theme - Flat theme with transparent elements

  To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  https://mentors.debian.net/package/arc-theme

  Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x
https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/a/arc-theme/arc-theme_20170302-1.dsc

  Changes since the last upload:

   * New upstream release
- Cinnamon 3.2 fixes
- Fix frame borders with GTK+3.22.9
- Small bugfixes
  * Packaging Changes
- update copyright year from 2016 to 2016-2017

Notes:
  I see that sid contains GTK+3.22.9 whereas stretch (testing) is
currently carrying GTK+3.22.8

I presume that stretch will update to upstream's recommended
GTK+3.22.9 version shortly (Ubuntu 17.04 is similarly making this move
shortly) - as such, as soon as Debian Stretch does, arc-theme will
then be visually broken due to this issue:

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=779005

'After upgrading to GTK 3.22.9 frame border style should be applied to
frame.flat > border instead of frame > border.flat.' The Adwaita theme
was updated for these requirements too:

https://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk%2B/commit/?id=0c20604932f

I can confirm that this release of arc-theme works with GTK+3.22.8 as
well as GTK+3.22.9

Bug#861571: RFS: alttab/1.0.3-1 [ITP] -- task switcher for minimalistic WMs or standalone X session

2017-04-30 Thread Alexander Kulak
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: wishlist

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "alttab":

* Package name: alttab
  Version : 1.0.3-1
  Upstream Author : Alexander Kulak
* URL : https://sagb.github.io/alttab
* License : GPLv3
  Section : x11

It builds those binary packages:

alttab - task switcher for minimalistic WMs or standalone X session

To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

https://mentors.debian.net/package/alttab

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/a/alttab/alttab_1.0.3-1.dsc

# Advocacy

alttab is just a window switcher for X. Its features:

[1] works not only in specific WM
[2] has visual interface
[3] convenient tactile behaviour: press modifier (Alt) - multiple
switch with key (Tab) - release modifier
[4] focuses on clarity and simplicity: lightweight, depend only on
common X11 libs
[5] customizable look and behaviour
[6] seamless work with WM grouping/desktops, because of
maintaining stack of every window, not only exposed ones

Switchers in common big desktop environments lack [1] and [4].
In minimalistic WM, internal switch lacks [1] and usually [2], [3],
[5], while dmenu-like switchers lack [3]. alttab fits naturally in
this niche.
Comparable standalone application (i'm aware of skippy-xd) is mature
and has more features, but lacks [3] and [4].

# Maintenance notes

I may adopt sponsor's packaging choice instead of gbp/cowbuilder/dh.
I'm hanging around on freenode and oftc (nick sa),
would be grateful for any hint, testing or co-authoring.

Regards,
Alexander Kulak

 3.22.9-1 is a whole new upstream release, with changes that actively break

 gtk-3 using programs as well.

I want to add, that the relevant changes in gtk have been reverted
upstream as well in 3.22.10. So no changes should be necessary for
arc-theme.
