Yeah, although it's good to contact the maintainer first. I've done so by a
RC bug: #881763 (duplicate package, undeclared file conflict). This way we
won't need to dig potential rdeps someone may upload tomorrow out of
testing.

Have you talked to the ftpmasters already?

I don't see any changes other than removal of an article from the short desc
and removal of the Homepage: field.

Thus, this upload would serve no other purpose than to stake your claim.
This can be done just by mentioning in the ITA bug.

I'd refrain from uploading until there are some actual changes.

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "stenc"

* Package name: stenc
  Version : 1.0.7-1
  Upstream Author : John Coleman
* URL : https://sourceforge.net/projects/stenc/

It builds those binary packages:
stenc - SCSI Tape Encryption Manager

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:
  dget -x https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/stenc/stenc_1.0.7-1.dsc

More information about stenc can be obtained from
https://sourceforge.net/projects/stenc/

At the moment Debian is missing a tool which would alow users to utilise
hardware encryption in their tape drives. Stenc manages encryption on capable
LTO tape drives with hardware-based encryption. Program should work on any
other SSP capable tape drives. Built specifically for Linux and AIX. Now
supports
key change auditing and key descriptors (uKAD). I have been using this tool with
LTO-6 drive for some time and I think Debian would benefit from having it
packaged.

Hi Christian,

The main problem with this is that my_LIBS as set by PKG_CHECK_MODULES
may contain multiple libraries, and nothing guarantees that I need the
first one. But there's probably no cure for that. And it failed badly
on FreeBSD for some reason... So now I need a BSD machine to log on.

> find_library(PNG_LIBRARY_FILE NAMES png)

Yes, finding the library is what I wanted to offload to ld. It's
somewhat hairy to scan the library path, or at least I haven't found the
appropriate tool.

That probably won't happen in the near future, as I've never used CMake,
just tried to parse your code based on English and common sense. :)

I asked the contributor (2017-11-12) to close the bugs with

Looks the new release is already uploaded, not sure if anything is still missing
