Hi,

I was beaten closing this RFS. :-)

The package has been kindly checked by one of my sponsors (Gianfranco
Costamagna) and uploaded. It
now resides in the 'NEW' queue[1] awaiting final approval[2] before entering
Debian unstable.

Many thanks for your contribution to Debian.

Anything you need a hand with, please do not hesitate to drop me an email.

Drop i386 architecture in texworks

2023-12-19 Thread Preuße , Hilmar

Hi all,

sorry to bother again. I was requested to stop building package on i386
(#1057407) so libqt6 can drop the i386 support too. So, how do do I do
that? Do I have to specify (and maintain) the list of all supported
arches in the debian/control file or can I specify something like "any
[!i386]"?

Another idea was to remove the i386 package using an ROM bug, then let
libqt6 fix their list of arches. texworks stops automatically building
on i386, b/c the BD's can be fulfilled any more. No need to change the
source package. Would that work?

Thanks!

You amend it. To avoid ambigiouness:

Until the first upload is sponsored, you just keep a single changelog entry.
In the case of a new upstream version, you just change the version accordingly.

For example a fictional package foobar, updating from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1:

foobar (1.0.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

 * Initial Package (Closes: #…)

would become:

foobar (1.0.1-1) unstable; urgency=medium

 * Initial Package (Closes: #…)

Version 1.0.0-1 will NOT be mentioned in d/changelog, as there are no changes
to the Debian package if there was no prior upload.

Why does the build system force an ancient c++ standard ? It seems to
mostly get in the way and there are rarely good reasons to do it.

Why does it build with -O1 in release mode ?
