Bug#733578: hwinfo/21.0-1 needs updates / FTBFS of libx86emu
Hi Sebastien, hi Tomasz, I have not yet completely reviewed hwinfo 21.0-1, but there is at least one thing which needs to be fixed: - debian/libhd21.symbols is incomplete on i386. A fixed version is attached. And I found trailing whitespaces in old debian/changelog entries and debian/libhd-doc.doc-base. Since related, here some comments about libx86emu: At the moment, it FTBFS on some architectures [mips, mipsel, powerpc, ...] because of missing sys/io.h. As the new hwinfo depends on it, this restricts the architectures where it will be available. So this should be fixed before hwinfo is uploaded - for example by fixing libx86emu itself or by reducing the dependency to the architectures where it is really available. Actually, the libx86 package contains a copy of libx86emu and has therefore similar problems [1,2]. Please contact Anibal Monsalve Salazar (ani...@debian.org) who maintains it. Especially for the security team, it would be nice, if it could use the new libx86emu package instead of including its own copy. Best wishes Johann Felix PS: Please update the git repositories where needed. Bug#733579: RFS: libx86emu/1.4-1 [ITP]
Hi Sebastien, the libx86emu-package looks quite ready now - good job! I found only one thing which should be fixed: - The description of the libx86emu-dev specifies that it contains a static library, which is not the case and is not necessary for a -dev package. The solution is simple: Use the same first paragraph as in the libx86emu1 package. The line This package contains the development files. is fine. It would be nice, if you could also update the timestamp in debian/changelog to show that the package was updated. Contact me again, if the package is fixed. If there is nothing else, I am going to sponsor it. Feel free to contact me for further uploads of this package. I plan also to look at your RFS for hwinfo, but it seems that you already have people who can sponsor it... Bug#717360: Review for RFS: niceshaper/1.0.0-2 [ITP]
Hi Mariusz, here a short review of your niceshaper package on mentors.d.n (might not be complete): - COPYING and debian/copyright do not match: Is your software GPL-2 or GPL-2+, which means GPL v2 or later? - remove trailing whitespaces in debian/ files (use egrep '\s$' debian/*). - remove the comments at the beginning of debian/rules about its dh-make origin. - fix lintian warnings: W: niceshaper source: out-of-date-standards-version 3.9.3 (current is 3.9.4) W: niceshaper: hardening-no-relro usr/bin/niceshaper I: niceshaper: hardening-no-fortify-functions usr/bin/niceshaper - Enable hardening: switch to debian/compat 9 and adapt the makefiles accordingly: they should append to the build flags. The code does not compile with -Werror=format-security so you need either overwrite this flag or fix your code. - As it seems that the configuration of niceshaper needs to be adapted nearly everywhere, it does not make much sense to start it automatically with some example settings. Therefore I recommend you to disable it by default (add a commented /etc/default/niceshaper file with something like NICESHAPER_ENABLE=false and check it in the init.d script). Add a README.Debian which describe what the user needs to do to enable it. But maybe you have a better idea, how to improve the usage for normal user. - bonus (optional): support vim-addon-manager (add /usr/share/vim/registry/niceshaper.yaml, see /usr/share/doc/vim-addon-manager/addons-proposal.txt for details). Bug#713809: RFS: ttylog/0.25-1
Hi Robert, hi Adrian, I was not aware of the improvements that Adrian suggested and therefore uploaded already the 0.25-1 package. We had just a bad timing. Since buildflags are now used in debian/rules, hardening is already enabled. IMHO, the other suggested improvements are more or less cosmetic and can therefore wait. But Robert, please do not hesitate to contact me with a ttylog/= 0.25-2 RFS if you want or need it. Best wishes Johann Felix signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
Bug#677092: RFS: wmctrl/1.07-7 [ITA] -- control an EWMH/NetWM compatible X Window Manager
Hi Jeroen, thanks for adopting wmctrl! I would sponsor your package, but please fix the following small issues first: - use the current homepage in debian/watch - remove 03_makefile_prelibs.patch (it is not in debian/patches/series and does not work because either Makefile.in need to be patched or you need to call automake, e.g. by using dh_autoreconf). To get the intended feature, simply add to debian/rules: override_dh_auto_build: dh_auto_build -- LDFLAGS+=-Wl,--as-needed - not yet needed, but would be nice: copyright-format-1.0 Best regards, Johann Felix signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

The main difference is the output format: netstat-nat uses a table output format similar to netstat, which in my eyes is more human readable than the output of conntrack. Additionally, netstat-nat can resolve IP addresses and port-numbers. conntrack, the official tool from netfilter.org, provides a full interface to connection tracking and has some other features like xml output, while netstat-nat can only display the most important information about tracked connections. See the man pages for the details. A short look to the popcon statistics [1,2] shows, that netstat-nat enjoys about the same popularity as the some years younger conntrack. I've uploaded a new version to mentors.debian.net On Tuesday,15.09.2009, 02:49 -0300 Rogério Brito wrote: * refresh the quilt patches, so that they apply without fuzz; fixed * you may want to patch the code to avoid the use of tmpnam (see the warnings). , | gcj pdftk.o attachments.o report.o /usr/lib/gcj/itext-2.1.5.jar.so -I../java_libs2 -lgcj -fdollars-in-identifiers -Wl,-Bsymbolic -Wl,--as-needed -fpic -lstdc++ -o pdftk | report.o: In function `ReplaceXmp(com::lowagie::text::pdf::PdfReader*, std::basic_stringchar, std::char_traitschar, std::allocatorchar )': | report.cc:(.text+0x27c7): warning: the use of `tmpnam' is dangerous, better use `mkstemp' | make[2]: Leaving directory `/tmp/pdftk-1.41+dfsg/pdftk' | make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/pdftk-1.41+dfsg' ` done * some programs are compiled with warnings disabled. Any reason for that? I'd say that -Wall -Wextra is a good thing for the C/C++ parts, as well as -Weffc++ for C++ files. I actually compiled it here with the warnings and it reveals some nice things. thanks. I've added a new patch to solve the warnings. * there's some weird stuff going on here: if you compile the code with -O2, then everything builds fine on amd64, at least. If you compile with -O3, bombs with an error (not an ICE). I'm very ignorant about Java and stuff, but it seems to me that the compiler should be consistent about compiling the code with any kind of optimization levels. They are not asking the compiler to change its behaviour here. IMVHO, you should take this upstream (perhaps it has already been fixed if you build it with gcc-snapshot?). This is g++'s PR C++/39380 which is solved at least in Debian's current g++ 4.4.1-4. But during runtime, pdftk depends strongly on the ABI of libitext-java-gcj which is built with gcj-4.3 at the moment. So we have to use the same compiler version. If there is a new version of libitext-java-gcj built with a new compiler version, a bin-NMU of pdftk should be enough. pdftk is already buildable with g++/gcj 4.4 * you might want to consider these lintian warnings: , | rbr...@chagas:/tmp$ lintian -IE --pedantic pdftk_1.41+dfsg-0.1_amd64.changes | I: pdftk: hyphen-used-as-minus-sign usr/share/man/man1/pdftk.1.gz:54 | I: pdftk: hyphen-used-as-minus-sign usr/share/man/man1/pdftk.1.gz:153 | P: pdftk: copyright-refers-to-symlink-license usr/share/common-licenses/GPL | P: pdftk: no-upstream-changelog | rbr...@chagas:/tmp$ ` fixed Thanks again! RFS: pdftk (major NMU, fixes RC bugs)
Dear mentors, I am looking for a sponsor for my NMU of the package pdftk. In the last month, I sent two mails to its maintainer (Aurélien GÉRÔME) concerning his package/this NMU but got no reply. To solve the (RC) bugs, I have to change lots of things. See below for the shortened changelog. So this is not a normal small-diff NMU. * Package name: pdftk Version : 1.41+dfsg-0.1 Upstream Author : Sid Steward sstew...@accesspdf.com * URL : http://www.pdfhacks.com/pdftk/ * License : GPL-2+ Section : text It builds these binary packages: pdftk - useful tool for manipulating PDF documents The package appears to be lintian clean. The upload would fix these bugs: 258377, 424920, 461169, 470215, 504014, 504128, 514561, 519466, 533795, 534080, 538252 The package can be found on mentors.debian.net: - URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/pdftk - Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main contrib non-free - dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/pdftk/pdftk_1.41+dfsg-0.1.dsc The important changes are: * DFSG-repack and use extern libitext-java (Closes: #519466) * Support newer gcj (Closes: #470215, #514561, #534080, #533795, #538252) * Handle utf8 filenames (Closes: #258377, #504014, #504128) * Handle utf8-data, CreationDate and ModDate fields in update_info correctly (Closes: #424920, #461169) * Rework build system - minimize dh rules, update dependencies * Update debian/watch and use created debian/uscan-dfsg-clean.sh * Clean debian/copyright from itext, use machine-readable format - upstream uses GPL-2+ (not unversioned GPL) I would be glad if someone nm-uploaded this package for me. Yes. From manpage of dpkg: dpkg returns success (zero result) if the specified condition is satisfied, and failure (nonzero result) otherwise. RFS: pdfchain (2nd try)
Dear mentors, I am looking for a sponsor for my package pdfchain. * Package name: pdfchain Version : 0.123-1 Upstream Author : Martin Singer (m_pow...@users.sourceforge.net) * URL : http://pdfchain.sourceforge.net/ * License : GPL-3+ Programming Lang: C++ Section : text It builds these binary packages: pdfchain - a graphical user interface for the PDF Tool Kit pdfchain a is GUI for pdftk, written in C++ with GTKmm.
