Re: [Pkg-javascript-devel] RFS: v8cgi (fourth try)
Hi Ansgar, thanks for your useful comment. I have fixed this, as well as some more lintian pedantic warnings in a new version of this package. Updated info about the source package can be found at http://mentors.debian.net/package/v8cgi . I strongly hope this improvement increases my chances to get sponsored after four-month wait :-) Sincerely, Ondrej Zara 2012/3/22 Ansgar Burchardt ans...@43-1.org: Hi, [ I don't intend to sponsor this package. ] On 03/22/2012 08:18 AM, Ondřej Žára wrote: libapache2-mod-v8cgi - v8cgi apache module v8cgi - Wrapper around V8 Javascript engine v8cgi-gd - v8cgi gd module v8cgi-memcached - v8cgi memcached module v8cgi-mysql - v8cgi mysql module v8cgi-pgsql - v8cgi pgsql module v8cgi-sqlite - v8cgi sqlite module Just a short comment on the package descriptions: they don't tell me at all what these packages do beyond what I can already guess from the package name itself. I'm not a DD, but the version in your PPA seems to be, unsurprisingly, a Ubuntu package. If you want to get it uploaded in Debian, the first step would be packaging and testing it in Debian unstable. Also, please mention the link to your .dsc file in your RFS message. Done. RFS: v8cgi (second try)
Dear mentors, I am looking for a sponsor for my package v8cgi, for which I'm also the upstream author. v8cgi is a multi-purpose wrapper around V8 Javascript engine: it can be used as a shell-scripting language/environment, CGI/FastCGI binary or Apache module. It resembles Node.js, but comes with a somewhat simplified and more synchronous interface paradigms - somewhat similar to PHP. One of the design goals for this project is also a high CommonJS compliancy (http://wiki.commonjs.org/wiki/Implementations/v8cgi). v8cgi also comes with a rich set of built-in modules, implemented either in C++ or JS. These either wrap common libraries (sockets, mysql, pgsql, gd, tls, ...) or provide features implemented from scratch (websockets, http, session, unit testing, ...). v8cgi itself is implemented in C++ and has libv8 as its only dependency. It is developed at Google Code (http://code.google.com/p/v8cgi/) under New BSD Licence. Ubuntu packages are available from a Launchpad PPA (https://launchpad.net/~ondras/+archive/v8cgi).
