Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for the package xnoise a lightweight and
fast GTK+ media player.

 * Package name: xnoise
   Version : 0.2.17-1
   Upstream Author : Jörn Magens
 * URL : https://bitbucket.org/shuerhaaken/xnoise
 * License : GPL-2+
   Section : sound

It builds those binary packages:

  libxnoise0 - Pretty and leightweight media player for Gtk+ (shared
  library)
  xnoise - Pretty and leightweight media player for Gtk+
  xnoise-dev - Pretty and leightweight media player for Gtk+
 (development)
  xnoise-plugins - Pretty and leightweight media player for Gtk+
 (plugins)

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/xnoise

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/x/xnoise/xnoise_0.2.17-1.dsc

The ITP bug can be found here:
  http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=632932

The libtaginfo library [1] is required so a sponsor should look at both
packages (see the blocked by bug).
Currently there are several patches to make this package lintian clean
and fix the hardening build. All of those patches are already pushed
upstream and can be dropped with the next xnoise release.

Thank you for your time and help!

Regards,
Dominique Lasserre

Bug#707595: RFS: xnoise/0.2.18-1 [ITP]

2013-09-18 Thread Dominique Lasserre
Dear mentors,

I have updated the package to the new upstream release 0.2.19:

New source control file location is:

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/x/xnoise/xnoise_0.2.19-1.dsc

(Debian) changes since the last upload:
 - Change taginfo dependency name accordingly [1].
 - Clean pre-generated files (Makefile.in) and packaging directory.
 - Add automake and libtool dependencies and regenerate pre-generated
   files.
 - Recreate the libxnoise.symbols file.
 - Update dbus-service-location (no need to patch generated Makefile
   anymore) and extra_packaging patches.
 - Update files to install.

Thank you for looking at this package!

Regards
Dominique

Bug#707595:

2013-06-25 Thread shuerhaaken
Hello

I'd like to point out that releases of xnoise never require vala for
building because the release contains the C sources!

Usual configure-make-makeinstall works without vala.

bug #705677 should not be a blocker for this ITP bug.

Regards
Jörn

Generated files aren't source (as in preferred form of modification).

It's a requirement that packages can be built from source (here: vala)
with tools available in Debian. Otherwise it is, for example, not
possible to do security updates.

Bug#707595: Info received (Bug#707595: RFS: xnoise/0.2.17-1)

2013-05-10 Thread Dominique Lasserre
Hi Mentors,

the next upstream release came quite faster I thought, so I've bumped
the package on mentors to the 0.2.18 release:

 * Package name: xnoise
   Version : 0.2.18-1
   Upstream Author : Jörn Magens
 * URL : https://bitbucket.org/shuerhaaken/xnoise
 * License : GPL-2+
   Section : sound

Binary names haven't changed so far ;) but the source control file is
now located under:

  dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/x/xnoise/xnoise_0.2.18-1.dsc

Changes since the last update:
 - Drop following patches (were merged upstream):
   * litstringerror (FTBFS with hardening flags)
   * manupdate (manpage not up-to-date)
   * desktopkeywords (lintian hint: Keyword: in desktop file)
   * daemonspell (lintian hint: spelling error)
 - Drop lintian override by adding autotools-dev to Build-Depends.
 - Use dh --with autotools_dev.
 - Don't run autoreconf --force...
   - Extend dbus-service-location patch to also update Makefile.in.
 This patch installs an executable only useful for programs to the
 path /usr/lib/xnoise/ and not /usr/bin/.
 - Recreate the libxnoise.symbols file (since the library wasn't
   already included).

The blocking bug #705677 (new Vala upstream version required) was
already pushed by the Vala packaging team, so this isn't an issue any
more (when the ftp masters will accept it).

Thank you to look again at the xnoise package!

Regards
Dominique

Thank you!

I pushed an corrected version to mentors.

What I recognized so far: valac-0.20 isn't packaged in the archive so I
will prepare a update for the Vala compiler before xnoise sponsorship is
possible.

Regards
Dominique
