I for one don't care, though I've no idea about the ftp-master position.
A few days ago some people here agreed that patching it is ok. You should
 fill a bug upstream anyway.

Ok, I read the discussion now and will keep it that way for now and let
 upstream handle it.

On second thought, since it is unlikely that upstream will make a point
release for that issue, I corrected the address now.

Updated package has been uploaded to mentors and pushed to

Thanks.

Ok, I updated the copyright information to include all copyright holders
involved.

 * This copyright format stuff makes me cry. I'm not sure what should
be used but so far I think a majority uses a svn revision for the
   format definition.

Ok, I have changed that to
http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/dep/web/deps/dep5.mdwn?op=filerev=174

I thought that the State: CANDIDATE (frozen, about to be ACCEPTED)
meant that I could use the static url now because there won't be any
major changes to the proposal.

 * Is there really a texinfo manual somewhere?

Ups, no, there isn't. I forgot to remove that info from the generated
man-page.

The rest seems to be ok, though I can't build it currently.

Yes, that is my fault. libpar2 has been removed from debian a few weeks
ago. I changed my packaging to not use the par2-features in nzbget anymore.

GPL (v2 or later) (with incorrect FSF address)
for all files and I don't know if this will be a problem preventing the
package from inclusion in the archive.

2011-05-13 Thread Andreas Moog
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package nzbget.

* Package name: nzbget
  Version : 0.7.0-1
Upstream Author : Andrei Prygounkov hugbug AT users.sourceforge.net
* URL : http://nzbget.sourceforge.net
* License : GPL-2
  Section : net

It builds these binary packages:
nzbget - command-line based binary newsgrabber for nzb files

The package appears to be lintian clean except for
I: nzbget: spelling-error-in-binary usr/bin/nzbget begining beginning
but I think this doesn't warrant a distribution patch.

Another issue is with the license, licensecheck shows
GPL (v2 or later) (with incorrect FSF address)
for all files and I don't know if this will be a problem preventing the
package from inclusion in the archive.

The upload would fix these bugs: 624381 (ITP)

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/n/nzbget
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/n/nzbget/nzbget_0.7.0-1.dsc

You could also check out the git repository at:

git://git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/nzbget.git

I would be glad if someone uploaded or checked this package for me.

Kind regards
 Andreas Moog

You may as well add a patch and send it upstream.

It won't be a problem, but please ask upstream to fix their preambles.

RFS: nzbget

2009-07-16 Thread Andreas Eriksson
Hello debian-mentors.

I have packaged nzbget (http://nzbget.sourceforge.net), which is gplv2
command-line software written in c++ that downloads binary files from
usenet, using nzb files (which is kind of like torrent files for
usenet, they specify where you can find every part of the file(s) you
want, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NZB for more info). One good
source for nzb files is http://binsearch.info.

nzbget can use advanced features like ssl, multiple connections,
multiple usenet-servers with different priorities (so if one server
gives a corrupt file it can try another one), par checking and
repairing to ensure that files aren't broken, etc. It can either use a
basic text interface or a interactive ncurses-interface. In its most
basic mode it works similar to wget, you run it with the .nzb file as
the argument, and it starts downloading, and exists when finished. It
also has a server/client mode where the server (which is either an
interactive console or a background daemon) can be running all the
time, and you can add nzb files to its queue by using the nzbget
binary in client mode. It also has the ability to scan a directory for
new nzb files that it will then start downloading.

This is my first Debian package. I followed the new maintainer guide
to create it. Everything seems to check out when running lintian,
except the new-package-should-close-itp-bug thing, since there is no
bug. I'm not sure how to create a bug like that, and would like some
help with it. I had to write my own man-page for the software since it
didn't come with one. It builds and runs fine on my amd64 system, I
don't have access to any other systems to try it on at the moment. I'm
hoping that someone is willing to sponsor this package so I can get it
included in debian. I'm not the upstream author. I'm not sure how to
proceed from here, and would like some advice if anyone has some to
offer.
