RFS: plowshare (Second Try)

2011-10-04 Thread Daniel Echeverry
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package plowshare.
 * Package name: plowshare
   Version : 20110918-1
Upstream Author : Matthieu Crapet mcra...@gmail.com * URL
: http://code.google.com/p/plowshare/ * License : GPL-3+
   Section : web
It builds those binary packages:

plowshare - download files for file-sharing websites utility

My motivation for maintaining plowshare package is because it's an
excellent application and tool to automate downloads of file hosting
services like rapidshare, megaupload and many others from command
prompt. I've used it for a while and it works great, therefore I'd
like share it with the community.

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

 http://mentors.debian.net/package/plowshare

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/plowshare/plowshare_20110918-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards.
Daniel Echeverry

How is it different/better than similar software that already exist in
the archive (fatrat, slimrat, tucan)?

Re: RFS: plowshare (Second Try)

2011-10-04 Thread Jakub Wilk
I don't intend to sponsor this package[0][1], but here's my quick and
incomplete review:

There's new upstream version available.

Your .orig.tar.gz isn't identical to the can be downloaded from upstream
homepage.

- debian/*.dirs and debian/*.manpages don't seem to be needed. The
setup.sh script already takes care of creating needed directories and
installing manual pages (including the one you forgot :P).

Please consider shipping the bash completion file in your binary
package.

In DEP-5 copyright file, patterns in Files field are supposed to be
separated by whitespace, not by commas. (BTW, lintian =2.5.3 would tell
you that.)

Just in case upstream decides to use normal version numbers again, I'd
recommend using a slightly different versioning scheme for Debian:
0+MMDD-R

[0] I believe that packages like this belong to experimental/contrib,
not unstable/main. (This is my personal opinion, not necessarily shared
by the rest of the project.)

[1] Also, I try to keep away from anything that depend on ImageMagick.
:P
