Re: Re: a proposal to update the abcm2ps package
Hi, Another point is that would it be better to separate /debian from the upstream sources, I mean that providing only in each debian branches the content of /debian directory and moreover having like 5 or 6 (experimental) branches for something like the following: wheezy (o-o-stable): 6.6.17-1 jessie (oldstable): 7.8.9-1 stretch (stable): 7.8.9-1 buster (testing): 7.8.9-1 sid (unstable): 7.8.9-1 experimental: 8.14.1-0.1 Is such a setting acceptable/expected? I would have dreamed that 'gbp import-dscs --debsnap' would give me automagically such a git repository (at least for all the branches it can). :-) Thanks, Patrice

Personally, I believe that `pristine-tar' is required only if upstream ships PGP signature. Otherwise, restoring orig tarball from git tag on `upstream' branch is good enough.
Re: Re: a proposal to update the abcm2ps package
So I started to progress on that. Currently I think master=debian and now there is an upstream. For pristine-tar, I don't know yet. Also I have restarted the project using 'gbp import-dscs --debsnap' to keep more traces of the past. Thanks!

a proposal to update the abcm2ps package
Hi, This is more an exercise to teach how to deal with Debian packaging and with Salsa. I am not yet in contact with its DM, Anselm Lingnau, and neither with the upstream authors. But being now more familiar with git and git-buildpackage (thanks Guido!), I have started to work on updating the abcm2ps package: https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/abcm2ps that does not have any Debian VCS. And so here is the current work available at Salsa on my guest account: https://salsa.debian.org/Peutch-guest/abcm2ps Also it seems that there is a way to 'mirror' the origin github that is there: https://github.com/leesavide/abcm2ps/ Is it desired? required? I am a bit lost between the old, the current and the close future good/best practices regarding package maintenance even focusing on the https://wiki.debian.org/Packaging resources. So any feedback on this work is welcome. Cheers, Patrice
