Hi!

For nm.debian.org, at 2022-08-08:
I would like to apply to change my status in Debian to Debian Developer,
uploading.
Recently I worked on packaging "anonip" (currently in NEW), am about to adopt
xplanet, and will happily join some of the teams I used to be member of,
before I retired several years ago.

Best regards,
  Alexander

Re: DM application of Uwe Kleine-König (this time signed)

2013-06-10 Thread Alexander Reichle-Schmehl
Hi!

* Uwe Kleine-König u...@kleine-koenig.org [130609 12:35]:

This is my declaration of intent to become a Debian Maintainer.

I have read the Social Contract, Debian Free Software Guidelines and
Debian Machine Usage Policy and agree with all of them.
Currently, I maintain the rt-test package and did some work to make the
rt patch set available in the Debian Kernel packages.

I'm his regular sponsor for his package 'rt-tests' since four years and
never had any problems with him or his packages. Actually, one time he
already knew a detail about changes in debhelper I wasn't aware off...

So he surely has the technical skills to upload and maintain his own
packages. I also think that he has the needed social skills, which can
only partly be witnessed in his reactions on bug reports, where he is
polite and eager to fix the reported problem.

I support his application as Debian Maintainer.

Best regards,
  Alexander

  Applicant: Alexander Reshetov e...@debian-by.org

Why do you advocate this person? (please provide a 5-10 line summary).

Alexander is a member of Debian's publicity team, web team and the
Russian language team. He's very active on all this teams, especially on
publicity: starting as a translator for russian language, he quickly
become one of the main editors of DPN. He is a quick learner and is
always very helpful in doing various kinds of jobs: when needed he takes
the initiative, don't simply waiting for someone else, but actually doing
things only because they have to be done.

He's also interested in improve the Debian events management and, with
my events hat on, I can say that his enthusiasm could help a lot both in
organizing events and in improve Debian events infrastructure.

He's curious about how stuff works and is always polite with others, both
 users and developers.

For all these reasons, I wholehearthedly recommend Alexander as a
 non-uploading DD.

Sorry, I'm quite short on time, but I can only underline what Francesca
already said. He is very active, alway helpfull and nice to work with.

Best Regards,
  Alexander

Why do you advocate this person? (please provide a 5-10 line summary).

Francesca is member of Debian's publicity team, web team and the Italian
language team. She's quick and responsive regarding translation of
announcements and the DPN, and has been increasingly active in the web
team, which she also plans to continue in the future.

I would also like to note, that she's a quick learner, and interested to
learn how stuff works, while at the same time being able to stay patient
and polite even under stress (which she has recently shown quite well
;).

While I can't say anything about her packaging work (AFAIK she isn't
involved in packaging (yet?)), I can totaly recommend her as a
non-uploading DD.

Best Regards,
  Alexander

Why do you advocate this person? (please provide a 5-10 line summary).

You are encouraged to take questions such as the following into account
but you're not limited to answering these:
  - How have they contributed to Debian already?
  - What do they intend to do for Debian in the future?
  - How do they interact with others, such as users and other developers?
I want to advocate David Prévot as a non-packaging Debian Developer.

Based on his with the publicity team (and from what I saw from the www
team) I support his application. He does good work, was always polite
and patient (even when he needed to correct the same mistakes of others
repeatedly) and most important: While trying to learn more still knows
his borders.

Sorry, I have to go now, but IIRC you once said advocation messages
don't need to be long ;)

Kaare is an extremely long standing danish translator of the website.
[..]
Besides that, he also took up the work of processing the Who's using
Debian? mails on debian-www that for a longer time noone really was
looking after. He's the kind of person that does things because they
need to get done, not because they get you much prestige or recognition.

While I didn't had the pleasure to work with Kåre as close as Gerfried
did, I can only underline, that I completely agree with his high opinion
of Kåre. When I had contact with him (mostly when I needed an urgent
translation of a News-Item) he has always been very helpful and did an
astonishing work not only translating stuff but also reviewing and
correcting my English.

- From what I have seen, he is a qualified and dedicated long term
contributor, who surely deserves to finally be an official Debian Developer.

I only stopped sponsoring hist packages due to time constrains. So I can

Uh? You are not listed as one of the maintainers on
 http://packages.qa.debian.org/d/debian-maintainers.html and furthermore
if I understood the last sentence of the first paragraph of GR 2007/03
correctly, changes in the Debian Maintainer Keyring team are done via
delegetaion, and I haven't seen one.
I don't know how to changes in the Debian Maintainer keyring team

Then you are obviously neither maintainer nor co-maintainer of that
package and therefore don't need upload rights for it.

Somewhere seems to be a missunderstanding: Which packages to you
currently maintain? Which Developer has sponsored your uploads so far?

Advocations / Support mails (was: DM application for Christoph Egger)

2009-08-21 Thread Alexander Reichle-Schmehl
Hi!

* Martin Meredith m...@debian.org [090820 22:27]:

Personally, I think that an advocation should come from someone who's
sponsored/worked directly with the person to be accepted as DM, although
advocations like this are useful, without someone who's worked directly with
 the
person having advocated him, I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with this.

You are right. That's why he will get a real advocate from Goneri,
who has been working more closely together with him. Sorry for sending
my me too mail, before the real advocation mail has been send.

While I haven't sponsored his packages as part I saw his packaging work

 4. Recommendation
 -
I am happy to recommend to accept Barry as a Debian Developer, which will
hopefully ease his work and allow him to spend more time on actual work
instead of searching for sponsors.

I second this recommendation. When I met Barry at a Hurd-meeting around
Fosdem, I found that he was very pleasant to work with. He's saying
that he can't do things really well a bit too often IMO, but if that't
the only problem I have with someone, I'm not complaining. :-)

When I was more active in the games team and on the mentors list, I was
amazed at the amount of work he did. Being one of the sponsors he was
bugging in the past, I can say that he'll likely be more productive as a
developer: the amount of sponsoring requests is huge. The packages I
did sponsor were in good shape. Since many of the RFSs are for QA
uploads, I find it very valuable work.

I second this recommendation, too, for the reasons already named by Bas
(well, at least regarding the games team and the QA uploads he
prepared). All his packages were in very good shape. He would surely
be a good addition to the Debian project.

Best regards,
  Alexander
