Inviting one (or more) DDs for a LUG meeting doesn't sound like a bad
idea at all; also, in Europe not necessarily the nearest destination is
the cheapest one.

www.skyscanner.net gives these cheap options for *return* trips,
*including taxes*, from places where there is a DD to Palermo for
February:

  Pisa 37.34 €
  Milan Malpensa 37.98 €
  Milan Linate 53.61 €
  Bologna Forlì64.55 €
  London Stansted 53.48 €
  Cologne 73.22 €
  Stuttgart76.04 €
  Munich 79.63 €
  Rome Fiumicino 81.29 €
  Paris Orly 86.36 €

Note that I didn't check departure times (some of these may be "check in
closes at 5 o'clock in the morning"), nor I checked extra costs for
reaching the airport.

Ciao,

Enrico

No, I don't think so. If you're key was signed by three other people,
each of whom had their key signed by a DD, it'd be more plausible.

Presuming that's too difficult (it seems to have been tough enough
getting one signature), you could try to arrange for a DD to come visit
you -- maybe arrange someone from Debian-Med to give a talk at Palermo
LUG or similar? A return flight from Rome seems to be about 100 euros,
which Debian or the LUG might be able to cover. If there're universities
around who'd be interested in a talk, they might be able to help with
logistics too.

Otherwise, getting the NM last-resort check would suffice, but since you
don't have an AM yet by the looks, that'll likely take a while too.

Cheers,
aj

Mazara del Vallo, Italy (~ 37° 39' 0" N, 12° 35' 0" E).

The nearest DD is frankie (Francesco Paolo Lo Vergine), but he's in Bari (about
at 41° 7' 31" N, 16° 52' 0" E).

Kindly,
David

P.S.: please don't CC me; I read the mailing list through gmane.

Strictly speaking you are right and I expected this response. On the

signed key, right?

The nearest DD is about 1000 (probably more) km away. I have no chance to meet
any DD in the near future.
This is the *only* available connection between me and the Debian keyring.
Doesn't it suffice?

In any case, I could also send a gpg-signed identification document, even if
the NM helpdesk told me that it would be a "last resort". And I'm at last
resort.

Kindly,
David

As this is how the web of trust works I trust this. I
sponsored mainly the proda and the packeth package starting
9 months ago and since this he made a great improvement
with his packaging skills. While he had some problems at the
beginning (like every new packager) the packages I recently
sponsored were always in a pretty good shape.
So I advocate him.

Kind regards
Nico

Sure I would love to advocate you!

I already sent an application on Dec, 9: it was "stopped" for gpg-key-signing
issues. I think I've (at least, partially) solved these issues, since I got my

I'd trust this.

Here comes the reasons whe I would like to enable David to upload packages:

David has perfectly proven that he understood how Free Software works and
has done a great job in contributing to Debian-Med. I was seldomly
checking Davids packages as a sponsor and thus I do not qualify best for
judging his packaging work but I observed several of his SVN commits that
enhanced packages in the Debian-Med area and show that he understands
how packaging works.

I consider Davids continuous work on the web tools he developed for
Debian-Med as his most important work for the project and we definitely
would not be were we are regarding documentation of the project if
David would not have done such a great job. I would like to work together
with David to move this stuff foreward to be of general use for all
CDDs.

Kind regards

   Andreas.
