The debian directory stays as before, except that debian/patches is no longer used. The Ximian ooo-build tree is placed at the same level as the debian directory. This is how to get the new layout from CVS: download the tarball and unpack it: http://people.debian.org/~halls/openoffice/1.1rc3/openoffice.org_1.0.99+1.1rc3.orig.tar.gz (this tarball is zipped using gzip --rsyncable, so you can use rsync to reduce the download time for future tarballs :) That's a really good idea, the rsync part. OOo is really huge. Could you detail how to do it exactly? check out oo-deb/debian from our CVS as usual. You need the latest HEAD revision. Have a look at debian/changelog: I documented most of the changes in there already, although I haven't included all the new patches from Ximian yet. Then, you need the Ximian CVS tree. I scripted a build rule to make it easier: cd openoffice.org-1.0.99+1.1rc3 debian/rules get-ooo-build I already have a problem (I solved it on my side without trouble, but I think I should let you know too): the cvs version on Woody doesn't recognize the -z # option. My problem is, that dpkg-source finished with an unrepresentable change on the source error. I think, that comes from the ximian part Anyone seen this? Any hints to fix it? Bug#171623: openoffice.org: OO crashes upon startu
Hi Jack On Thu, Dec 05, 2002 at 10:32:13PM -0500, Jack Howarth wrote: The only issues I have seen are occasional quits on startup in openoffice from the absence of __libc_waitpic in glibc 2.3.1 or glibc cvs. My workaround on that was to delete the .openoffice directory in my account, move /usr/lib/j2se aside under a bogus name and rerun openoffice. This seems to cause openoffice not to find the jdk support and disable it for that account. This is a konsequense of the included mozilla-binaries, which are included in the openoffice.org-1.0.1 source tree while building OpenOffice.org.The files are called : LINUXGCCPinc.zip-- Mozilla includes LINUXGCCPlib.zip-- Mozilla liberies LINUXGCCPruntime.zip-- Mozilla binaries and thy are builded with gcc-3.1. But we switched to gcc-3.2.1 and I forgot to rebuild them, sorry. (On Intel, the Mozillafiles are included into the OpenOffice.org source, but not on PPC ;( ) So I started to build Mozilla from debian with gcc-3.2.1 and I saw this: g++-3.2 -o regExport.o -c -DOSTYPE=\Linux2.4\ -DOSARCH=\Linux\ -DOJI -DUSE_NSREG -I../../../dist/include/string -I../../../dist/include/xpcom -I../../../dist/include -I/home/palic/temp/mozilla/mozilla-1.1/build-tree/mozilla/dist/include/nspr -I/usr/X11R6/include -fPIC -I/usr/X11R6/include -fno-rtti -fno-exceptions -Wall -Wconversion -Wpointer-arith -Wbad-function-cast -Wcast-align -Woverloaded-virtual -Wsynth -Wno-ctor-dtor-privacy -pedantic -Wno-long-long -fshort-wchar -pthread -pipe -DNDEBUG -DTRIMMED -pipe -w -O2 -DDEBIAN -I/usr/X11R6/include -DMOZILLA_CLIENT -include ../../../config-defs.h -Wp,-MD,.deps/regExport.pp regExport.cpp g++-3.2 -I/usr/X11R6/include -fno-rtti -fno-exceptions -Wall -Wconversion -Wpointer-arith -Wbad-function-cast -Wcast-align -Woverloaded-virtual -Wsynth -Wno-ctor-dtor-privacy -pedantic -Wno-long-long -fshort-wchar -pthread -pipe -DNDEBUG -DTRIMMED -pipe -w -O2 -DDEBIAN -o regExport regExport.o-L../../../dist/bin -L../../../dist/lib -L../../../dist/bin -lxpcom -L/home/palic/temp/mozilla/mozilla-1.1/build-tree/mozilla/dist/lib -lplds4 -lplc4 -lnspr4 -lpthread -ldl -lc -lpthread -lc -ldl -lm -lc ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub203()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub156()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub184()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub128()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub226()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub246()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub112()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub180()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub230()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub147()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub151()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub116()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub111()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub231()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub141()' ../../../dist/bin/libxpcom.so: undefined reference to `nsXPTCStubBase::Stub104()'. . . . . collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[5]: *** [regExport] Error 1 I searched on the Internet and I asked Kevin B. I found some interesting patches: http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2002-07/txt00015.txt fixes the GXX_ABI_VERSION Macro in gcc and cp, which would help building Mozilla with gcc-3.2.1 and http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142594 and the patch: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=96560action=view which fixes the mozilla itself to get build with gcc-3.2.1 This is just for Info, the error is known and will be fixed up to in two/three days. I have no big flat here to download the mozilla-source and test the patch against mozilla. My question to the gcc-maintainers is, is the gcc-patch from Franz in included in the gcc-package? We used different versioning for our unofficial libstlport packages to Torsten's official unofficial packages. To solve that, please grap Torsten's libstlport packages from: http://ftp.freenet.de/pub/ftp.vpn-junkies.de/openoffice/pool/main/stlport/ and then reinstall OpenOffice.org. Then the problem, that libstlport_gcc_3.0.so.4.5 isn't found, should be solved! For having some extra fun I can tell you that Debian revision -3 of stlport never got installed into the ftp archive. I have uploaded a new version -4 that does not support g++-3.2 (aka openoffice) any more. The g++-3.2 transition is planned when a policy for the transition is published. why ... why ... ? Why is it not possible, to upload a stlport package splitted up into packages for the standardcompiler (gcc-2.95) and the new standard compiler (gcc-3.2). OpenOffice.org needs a stlport with gcc-3.2 compiled, because, we have to use libstlport4.5 and OpenOffice.org is not buildable with gcc-2.95 and libstlport4.5. The only solution we have then is to use libstlprt4.0, which is not in debian yet. I posted a gcc 3.1.1 patch that did exactly this but it should have never made it into any tree since all it did was workaround a gcc 3.1.1 pre compiler problem (gcc headers never had the throw() which was actually spec (set_new_handler may not throw any exceptions according to the rules) but gcc was never picky about the throw specifier before 3.1.1 pre. So please back out the patch in memmgr.cxx (probably that came from my gcc 3.1.1 patch) that comments out the throw() on the set_new_handler code (to make it look like it did previously) and you should be fine. I looked to the link below about the gcc issue and it seems, that this patch is allready applied and I wonder, if the debian-gcc does not contain this patch.
