installing calendar in firefox
anyone able to install the "calendar" component into firefox on ppc? I get an error "performinstall() failed. Error code: -239". This is on the current unstable mozilla-firefox package (0.9.3-5, I think). Anyone else had better luck? thanks, matt http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/download.html#download_firefox -- .''`. You've compiled in the PC serial driver, which conflicts with the Mac one. Here are the serial-related settings from my config for 2.6.8.1: # CONFIG_MAC_SERIAL is not set # CONFIG_MOUSE_SERIAL is not set # CONFIG_SERIAL_NONSTANDARD is not set # CONFIG_SERIAL_8250 is not set CONFIG_SERIAL_CORE=y CONFIG_SERIAL_CORE_CONSOLE=y CONFIG_SERIAL_PMACZILOG=y CONFIG_SERIAL_PMACZILOG_CONSOLE=y # CONFIG_SND_SERIAL_U16550 is not set # CONFIG_USB_SERIAL is not set -- Eric C. 2.6.8.1 doesn't boot
Hello all...now that I've gotten my serial console to work, I've got a log to share. At the very bottom of the log, I get stuck there, no more boot activity after that. After a few minutes, I reboot. iMac with 2.6 does not see keyboard
so I managed to install the new 2.6.8 kernel and boot it. I understand that this is more modular, or maybe I should say module oriented, so I have to load explicitly ethernet (or put it into /etc/modules). my problem is that it looks like also usb has to be loaded as a module, isn't it so? and I've got only one computer at home, so I can't start this one, log in from the other (as I said, I haven't got the other one!) and try which module to load. you figure the situation: I boot it, I see that the mouse does not react at all, the keyboard is totally dead, I panic quite a lot more than the kernel, manage to wait five minutes hoping that most disc activity has come to a pause, then I push the switch and swear I won't start this again before being 100% sure this is not going to happen again. any hints? but please, with something like 95% accuracy... the machine is a iMac (early 2001), NewWorld, 750CX, 500MHz revision : 34.21 (pvr 0008 2215) thanks, Mario.

Thanks I'm not sure that this will help, but under http://ppcconfdb.sourceforge.net/?id=conf there is a PowerBook config with a radeon 9600. I'm not sure if this will help, but its worth taking a look at it (http://ppcconfdb.sourceforge.net/conf/PowerBook_Aluminium_G4_1GHz_15_radeon-9600/etc/X11/XF86Config-4). Otherwise, if you have one of these: # iBook_G4_933MHz-14.1 # iBook_G4_1GHz-14.1 Those configurations are listed. If your box isn't listed, feel free to run the make-db script (http://ppcconfdb.sourceforge.net/programs/make-db/make-db) and send me the tarball that is generated. Thanks. kernel preemption and segfault
Hi everyone ! I have an ibookg4 with a debian kernel 2.6.6 (with pmdisk patch). (same thing append on 2.6.3) With kernel preemption, all work perfectly. Without kernel preemption, they are many bugs: - under medium/high load, gcc crash randomly - mozilla have trouble to render (each refresh show a new page) - xmms segfault under medium/high load (sound crackle and segfault) - mplayer too And on time, X freeze. Kernel preemption isn't usuable under linuxppc ? Thanks, ++tito; -- o---[ libérez les jeux : http://jeuxlibres.net ]==-, | ,---[ blog: http://tito.bankiz.org ]--' | '--=[tito]---o

I want to subscribe
Hi I wonder if this an automated service? I hope not. After some frustrating attempts to post messages to linux.debian.posts.powerpc I have come to the conclusion the usual usenet approach does not work. Perhaps I need to 'subscribe'. If so, please consider this a request, and/or tell me what to do. Thanks Nikita Lvov <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

You might want to try 38400 bauds : it is faster, and will also get you the OF prompt at the serial console. > Unfortunately, I get to where it says "Freeing unused memory..." and > there I sit. Check your /etc/inittab : if you don't have a getty on the serial line, you won't be able to log in...
