Re: Status of python-central and dh_python
[Vincent Bernat, 2013-07-21] Unrelated, but is pybuilder planned to hit unstable soon? dh-python (which provides pybuild) will be uploaded to unstable once current python3-defaults migrates to testing -- Piotr Ożarowski Debian GNU/Linux Developer www.ozarowski.pl www.griffith.cc www.debian.org GPG Fingerprint: 1D2F A898 58DA AF62 1786 2DF7 AEF6 F1A2 A745 7645 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-python-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Just to let you know about some good news regarding the deprecated python helpers. python-central has just been removed from unstable, as you can see in [0]. The only package still using python-central is gozerbot-plugins [1], which should be removed from the archive very soon. I'll make sure python-central will be dropped from Jessie as well, as soon as all reverse dependencies migrate. Also, dh_python is no longer used by any package in debian [2]. A bug against debhelper has been filed asking to remove dh_python helper for good [3]. A bug against lintian will be filed as soon as debhelper will no longer provide dh_python. Does that mean that helper to build Python packages is finally rewritten in Python? -- anatoly t.

Thank for the link. http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=dh-python/dh-python.git;a=tree That's cool. I always wondered what do all these magic commands like dh_python2 actually do. RFS: feedparser/5.1.2-2
Hello, I prepared a new version for feedparser. It merges the changes made in Ubuntu, most notably adding support for python3. It also switches the packaging style to use dh. Please also note that I am also adopting this package (the previous maintainer, Carlos Galisteo, is OK with that) as I maintain rss2email for which it's an important dependency. The svn repo is up to date at the following URL: svn+ssh://svn.debian.org/svn/python-modules/packages/feedparser/trunk And here is the last changelog entry: feedparser (5.1.2-2) UNRELEASED; urgency=low . [ Jakub Wilk ] * Use canonical URIs for Vcs-* fields. . [ Etienne Millon ] * Add myself to Uploaders. * Import changes from Ubuntu (version 5.1.2-1ubuntu2) - Thanks to Barry Warsaw, Chuck Short, Dmitrijs Ledkovs, Jamie Strandboge, and Michael Terry. - Build for Python 3 (Closes: #664199) - Run the test suite during build (Closes: #649172) * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.4 (no changes needed) Thanks! -- Etienne Millon signature.asc Description: Digital signature
