I can reproduce this bug on Debian Squeeze. This bug makes the
qtparted package unusable by most or all users. Hence bumping up the
 severity.

The 0.4.5-4+b1 version in Lenny works fine. I wonder what caused the
 regression in 0.4.5-6+b1?

This happened because parted version is now only x.y whereas qparted
expects the version to be x.y.z. There is a patch in qparted svn to
accommodate the parted version parsing:

http://qtparted.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/qtparted/trunk/qtparted/src/qp_libparted.cpp?r1=250r2=252pathrev=252

Disclaimer: I have not tested whether that patch fixes the problem, or
if qparted works at all.

Sven

Each time I tried to play audio (ogg stream), I got an error. For
instance, with ogg123:

ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:866:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
ALSA snd_pcm_open error: Device or resource busy
Error: Cannot open device alsa.

I tried other devices, like oss, and still got an error. Ditto with
VLC using esd (/dev/dsp: Device or resource busy). I saw with lsof
that gtkpbbuttons was using /dev/dsp0. I killed the process... and
alsa and esd now work again.

Note: I restarted gtkpbbuttons and no longer have this problem. So, it
seems that under some conditions, gtkpbbuttons is locking /dev/dsp.

Hi,
when a user installs gtkpbbuttons, I suppose it is higly probable
she wants this program to be available as soon as X is started.
To achieve this the install script of the package could append a line
like

gtkpbbuttons -d -t

to Xsetup of every login manager (i.e. /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup etcetera).

The theme could be asked via debconf, as well as we could ask
the user if she actually wants gtkpbbuttons to be put in Xsetup.

Moreover, I don't think running gtkpbbuttons once for all users is a
problem, since (if I'm not wrong) it makes no sense that two (or more)
users run different istances of gtkpbbuttons, because the box is
just one!

Cheers,
Alfredo

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on
i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3
is now the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on
i386 yet). Consequently, many failures are caused by the switch to gcc
4.3.
If you determine that this failure is caused by gcc 4.3, feel free to
downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built on i386,
and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with
gcc 4.2).

Suggested patch if this is the case is attached. If it's not the case, the

Bug#499344: reassign 499344 to crystalcursors

2010-08-21 Thread Magnus Holmgren
On måndagen den 9 augusti 2010, I stated the following:
On söndagen den 8 augusti 2010, Sune Vuorela stated the following:
KDE only tells X the paths where to look for cursors

Also reported at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=213615, with a
perhaps better analysis. I still don't think it's a bug in any cursor
 package; maybe in Qt?

I think you could have been more helpful, but anyway, I now understand that
it's libXcursor that is responsible for the fallback to the default theme, and
that neither KDE nor Qt can do much about it (except that Qt could have used
standard X11 cursor names when running under X11). Perhaps lower the
alternatives priority for oxygencursors so that if the administrator installs
additional themes besides Oxygen, one of them will be the default by default,
so to speak?

Bug#499344: Wrong cursor when oxygencursors are installed

Alternatively, or as a workaround, all cursor packages might have to

It appears that, at least for the time being, all cursor packages will have to
provide the Qt cursor names as symlinks for them to work in KDE when Oxygen is
the default theme.

Here is a list:

Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***
On the system are installed more cursor packages, among them crystalcursors
and oxygencursors.
In kcontrol the cursor theme is set to crystalcursors blue, but for various
actions the cursor
will actually be from the oxygene theme (a whitish version): all 8 directions
resizin; the
active waiting cursor; the line cursor for editing text (this last one happens
only to KDE programs and Opera, but not
Pidgin or openoffice for example).

If it's of any help, the KDM login cursor is an oxygen one, probably a Debian
default. I
think there used to be bugs like this, with a new cursor not replacing the old
one completely.
Don't know if the bug belongs to crystalcursors

The crystalblue theme includes a cursor for ll_angle, but none for
ul_angle; this is inconsistent.

(I would also complain that ll_angle, bottom_right_corner, etc all lie
about what the cursor actually looks like; while this might be all
right for resizing windows, other applications do rely on the
distinction between, say, bottom_right_corner and top_left_corner.)

Package: crystalcursors
Version: 1.1.1-10
Severity: normal

The default x-cursor-theme alternative priority for all cursors is 50,
causing the actually selected alternative to be semi-random (depending
on the file name?). In my current setup it caused a left-handed cursor
to become default, confusing the users.

There should be one suggested theme with higher priority than the rest.

Description:
crystalcursors - X11 mouse theme with the crystal lookfeel
Closes: 430827 499344 500881 529434
Changes:
 crystalcursors (1.1.1-13) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * New maintainer (Closes: #529434).
   * Do not remove alternatives on upgrade.
   * Delete unused and unnecessary stuff from debian/rules.
   * Add build-indep target.
   * Drop 01-correct-upstreams-makefile.patch:
 - Pass PREFIX instead of DESTDIR from debian/rules
 - The all target should not have clean as a prerequisite; the
problem in bug #368468 was just that patch-stamp wasn't created
and we don't need that with source format 3.0.
   * Add CREDITS to debian/docs.
   * Add additional symlinks that Qt look for, as well as the missing
 ul_angle and ur_angle (Closes: #430827, #499344; works around:
 #548804).
   * Improve package description.
   * Give a suitable theme higher priority than the rest like; crystalblue
(the blue, right-handed, animated theme) is what the upstream author
intends as the default (Closes: #500881).
   * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.1.
