Package: qtparted
Version: 0.4.5-7
Severity: grave
Tags: security
User: t...@security.debian.org
Usertags: ldpath

Hello,

During a review of the Debian archive, I've found your package to
contain a script that can be abused by an attacker to execute arbitrary
code.

The vulnerability is introduced by an insecure change to
LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and environment variable used by ld.so(8) to look for
libraries on a directory other than the standard paths.

Vulnerable code follows:

/usr/sbin/run_qtparted line 47:
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$QTDIR/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH

When there's an empty item on the colon-separated list of
LD_LIBRARY_PATH, ld.so treats it as '.' (i.e. CWD/$PWD.)
If the given script is executed from a directory where a potential,
local, attacker can write files to, there's a chance to exploit this
bug.

This vulnerability has been assigned the CVE id CVE-2010-3375. Please make sure
you mention it when forwarding this report to upstream and when fixing
this bug (everywhere: upstream and here at Debian.)

Bug#598262: Removed package(s) from unstable

2010-09-28 Thread Debian FTP Masters
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

synce-multisync-plugin |0.9.0-7 | source, alpha, amd64, armel, hppa, i386,
ia64, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

--- Reason ---
RoQA; unused, orphaned for a long time
--

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 598...@bugs.debian.org.

I upgraded from lenny to squeeze and see now in the initial bootphase a lot of
udev warnings. Unfortunately they scroll to fast to be read.

I took a screenshot with a camera (see
http://bokomoko.de/~rd/udev/20100725_003.jpg - needed a few iterations to get
the timing
right) and this points towards

pcsc-omnikey: /etc/udev/rules.d/z98_omnikey.rules

The udev maintainer Marco d'Itri confirmed that the warnings are harmless, but
supported to
open a bug report.

After the upgrade I was worried that something is broken, so I think it would
be nice to remove them.

I discovered at the end that I do not need the package and removed pcsc-omnikey
altogether,
for me the problem is solved, but other users might run in that issue.

Many thanks,
Rainer

Bug#598268: Removed package(s) from unstable

2010-09-28 Thread Debian FTP Masters
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

   xbl |1.1.5-7 | source, alpha, amd64, armel, hppa, hurd-i386, i386,
ia64, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

--- Reason ---
RoQA; orphaned, unused, dead upstream

Package: audiooss
Version: 1.0.0-1
Severity: normal

This is probably me doing something wrong, but I'm at wits end here...
With AUDIOSERVER set to tcp/soundbox:8000, 'auplay sound.au' plays the
sound on soundbox as expected, but 'audiooss play sound.au' and 'env
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/audiooss/libaudiooss.so play sound.au' play the
sound locally, as though the audiooss library were not preloaded.
[/usr/bin/play from the sox package is a wrapper around sox, which is
listed in the README file as working with audiooss.] Some pfutzing with
the code and liberal insertion of DPRINTF()'s suggests that the library
isn't in fact being preloaded, or at least the open()/read()/write()
functions therein are not being used. Annoyingly, ldd appears to think
the library is being preloaded:

  $ audiooss ldd /usr/bin/sox
/usr/lib/audiooss/libaudiooss.so = /usr/lib/audiooss/libaudiooss.so
(0x40012000)
libm.so.6 = /lib/libm.so.6 (0x40029000)
libogg.so.0 = /usr/lib/libogg.so.0 (0x4004a000)
libvorbis.so.0 = /usr/lib/libvorbis.so.0 (0x4004e000)
libvorbisfile.so.3 = /usr/lib/libvorbisfile.so.3 (0x4006e000)
libvorbisenc.so.2 = /usr/lib/libvorbisenc.so.2 (0x40075000)
libc.so.6 = /lib/libc.so.6 (0x40156000)
libX11.so.6 = /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x40267000)
libdl.so.2 = /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x40321000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 = /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x4000)

Any thoughts? I can provide further information as needed. And in the
likely event that I've missed something obvious, I apologize in
advance...  :-}

with debconf if it should run in daemon mode.

Package: nxtvepg
Version: 2.7.6-1
Severity: important

Since i use kernel 2.6.16 nxtvepg fails to start acquisition. The reason
is that a check in epgvbi/zvbidecoder.c line 685++ fails with the output:

  skipping service 0x0001: sampling window too short: end 0.61
0.62 = offset 10300 *10^-9 + 0.51

With older kernels it always worked without problems. So this might be
a problem with the kernel too. But if I remove the check from the source
it seems to work fine.

I use a Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture card with the bttv
kernel module.

Severity: important

Since i use kernel 2.6.16 nxtvepg fails to start acquisition. The reason
is that a check in epgvbi/zvbidecoder.c line 685++ fails with the output:

  skipping service 0x0001: sampling window too short: end 0.61
0.62 = offset 10300 *10^-9 + 0.51

With older kernels it always worked without problems. So this might be
a problem with the kernel too. But if I remove the check from the source
it seems to work fine.

I use a Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture card with the bttv
kernel module.

Hi.

nxtvepg should have an icon for the menu item. I created a little
version of the logo on their website (see attachment). You might also
want to add a corresponding Icon= line to nxtvepg.desktop

Stefan

If I load the ivtv module I got the devices /dev/videoX and /dev/vbiX and
/dev/v4l/by-path/Symlinks to /dev/videoX
As soon as the directory /dev/v4l exists, nxtvepg does ignore the devices under
/dev and refuses to start as it thinks the video devices have to be beneath
/dev/v4l.

The problem is solved at least in the latest upstream version nxtvepg 2.8.1.
So please update this very old debian package.

Thanks!
Klaus

Hello,

Nxtvepg is a fabulous program. It can scan and get the tv.xml channel programs.
TVTIME is too one of the best.
Start scan is possible with nxtvepg ; could it be possible to export the scan
result to stationlist.xml for tvtime?
that would be great
the format is as follows:

   station name=S19 band=VHF S1-S41 active=1 position=23
xmltvid=CNI0D44 channel=S19 finetune=0 norm=PAL audio=auto/
the position is whatever you'd like
xmltvid and channel are important

Thanks a lot
Best regards
Y.

It would be nice if playmp3list had an option to sort by track number
(as supplied by id3 tags)

Basically, this would allow a person to play an album from start to
finish without relying on the filename (since not everybody starts
filenames with track numbers)

I suppose sorting by track numbers wouldn't work well when more than one
album is contained in a given directory. Sorting by album name and
subsorting by track number would seem to fix this case, but I'm not sure
that it's worth it. Just my $0.02

Hello,

There was a problem while autobuilding your package with
DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nostrip.
Final binaries are still stripped.

If you call dh_strip correctly in debian/rules, this may mean that upstream
is stripping anyway.
You should look for call to strip, ld -s or install -s which may strip binaries.

As a workaround, if that directory is created and the doc.* files are copied

Suggestions:

1. Change in all *.Imakefile files the line:

HELPDIR = /usr/doc/spider

to become:

HELPDIR = /usr/share/doc/spider

2. Add the following 2 lines to debian/rules file so that
doc.* files are not automatically compressed by dh_compress
when building the package:

override_dh_compress:
dh_compress -Xdoc.rules -Xdoc.controls -Xdoc.examples

Bug#598270: Removed package(s) from unstable

2010-09-28 Thread Debian FTP Masters
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

   nxtvepg |2.7.6-2 | source, alpha, amd64, armel, hppa, i386, ia64, mips,
mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

--- Reason ---
RoQA; unused, orphaned, outdated
