Kyle McMartin k...@debian.org has retired, so can't work on
the palo package anymore (at least with this address).

We are tracking their status in the MIA team and would like to ask you
to remove them from the Uploaders list of the package so we can close
that part of the file.

Alternatively, if the person is listed as Maintainer, what we are
asking is to please step in as a new maintainer.

Thanks.

palo was orphaned in 1.17, and Kyle isn't listed in Uploaders any more.

palo fails to build on current Ubuntu with the following error:

  In function 'open',
  inlined from 'do_formatted' at palo.c:482:
/usr/include/bits/fcntl2.h:51: error: call to '__open_missing_mode' declared
with attribute error: open with O_CREAT in second argument needs 3 arguments

I think we only notice this because we default to -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2
while Debian doesn't, but nevertheless it's a bug. The attached patch
fixes this.

Thanks,

Why do you need a static library in the first place?

There is an intention to reduce the number of 3-rd party dependencies

* make the results of recognition robust to changes in these libraries,
so the results are reproducible and predictable
* target Win32 platform, where it is easier to have one executable (no
dll hell)
