Bug#526257: libqtgui4: major gfx mem corruption
Package: libqtgui4 Version: 4.5.1-1 Severity: important I have noticed display corruption with many KDE applications; including kontact and konqueror. This corruption is shared with the virtualbox-ose-qt GUI, so I believe either QT or X is the common factor, not KDE. Although I run mostly KDE applications, I also run iceweasel and have (so far) not noticed any corruption with that application. Therefore I believe the problem lies within QT (and outwith X), although I wouldn't say this is conclusive. I've also noticed the problem on three different machines, each with different graphics hardware; suggesting this isn't directly a hardware-related problem. The display corruption does not appear straight away. It appears to be triggered by something within the application. I haven't been able to figure out precisely what triggers the problem, but it does not appear to be directly related to user input (mouse movement, keyboard, etc) but rather the application (attempting to) update its display in some way. The display corruption is manifest as a rectangular region within a window with semi-random content. The corruption sometimes shows content from other or previous windows, albeit distorted or misaligned: successive horizontal lines appear shifted. The affected region is usually located at the top-left corner of the window (including the menus), but does not include the window decoration. Hiding the corrupted region (with another window) and revealing it again does not affect the corruption but triggering the application (or QT) to refresh the display cleans the redrawn area; for example, a mouse-hover over a toolbar or menu item will clear the corrupt as the application/QT will draw a highlighted version of the icon or menu item. Minimising and maximising the window will clear some corruption in the menu and toolbars, but not elsewhere. This behaviour (min-then-max clearing corruption) appears to be application specific, so I suspect it is another example of the application redrawing some content, causing that part of the corruption to go away. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers oldstable APT policy: (500, 'oldstable'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.29-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages libqtgui4 depends on: ii fontconfig 2.6.0-3 generic font configuration library ii libaudio2 1.9.1-5 Network Audio System - shared libr ii libc6 2.9-8 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libfontconfig1 2.6.0-3 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.3.9-4.1 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc11:4.3.3-8 GCC support library ii libglib2.0-0 2.20.1-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libice62:1.0.5-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-14 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libmng11.0.9-1 Multiple-image Network Graphics li ii libpng12-0 1.2.35-1 PNG library - runtime ii libqtcore4 4.5.1-1 Qt 4 core module ii libsm6 2:1.1.0-2 X11 Session Management library ii libstdc++6 4.3.3-8 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libtiff4 3.8.2-11 Tag Image File Format (TIFF) libra ii libx11-6 2:1.2.1-1 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxrender11:0.9.4-2 X Rendering Extension client libra ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-13 compression library - runtime Versions of packages libqtgui4 recommends: ii qt4-qtconfig 4.5.1-1Qt 4 configuration tool libqtgui4 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#526324: ark: doesn't offer bzip archive support in the context menu
Package: ark Version: 4:4.2.2-1 Severity: normal Hi, I've recently moved from squeeze to unstable, and with it the new version of ark. I've noticed that ark in KDE 3.5 used to offer a right-click context menu whereby you could archive according to .tar.gz, .tar, .zip, .bzip2, .tar.bzip2 But in the ark in KDE 4.2 unfortunately doesn't offer this option set, especially for bzip2, and just offers rar or gzip compressed tar. Could we get .tar.bzip2 and .bzip2 back in the 'compress' context menu when you right-click please? -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages ark depends on: ii kdebase-runtime4:4.2.2-1 runtime components from the offici ii kdelibs5 4:4.2.2-2 core libraries for all KDE 4 appli ii libarchive12.6.2-1 Single library to read/write tar, ii libc6 2.9-8 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libqt4-dbus4.5.1-1 Qt 4 D-Bus module ii libqtcore4 4.5.1-1 Qt 4 core module ii libqtgui4 4.5.1-1 Qt 4 GUI module ii libstdc++6 4.3.3-8 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libzip10.8-1 library for reading, creating, and ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-13 compression library - runtime Versions of packages ark recommends: ii bzip2 1.0.5-1high-quality block-sorting file co pn ncompress none (no description available) pn p7zip-fullnone (no description available) pn unzip none (no description available) pn zip none (no description available) pn zoo none (no description available) ark suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#526403: konsole: PC speaker beep is not passed from Bash through Konsole
Package: konsole Version: 4:4.2.2-1 Severity: normal The PC speaker style beep seems to no longer be available through Konsole. Playing a sound file is too slow for tab completion and other instances where Bash generates the ASCII Bell character (Ctl-G). In Konsole 1.6.6 (KDE 3.5.10) the bell is played as expected while in Konsole 2.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2) the bell is mute. No configuration of Konsole was ever required to play the ASCII Bell character in the past.
