 Yes, it certainly does. The hppa porters are looking into such issues,
 using the above usertag as a todo list.

To reproduce:

$ cat minifail.cpp

int main(int argc, char** argv) {
QCoreApplication app(argc, argv);

QProcess proc;
proc.start(/usr/bin/cut, QStringList(), QIODevice::NotOpen);

Bug#524350: update - success using ubuntu kopete-cryptography package

2009-12-22 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
Downloading and installing the following ubuntu package enables gpg
in the debian kopete package:

  kopete-cryptography_1.3.0-kde4.3.0-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb

--force-depends is required since there is a dependency on libkleo4
(= 4:4.3.2-0ubuntu6). However, gpg does work fine.

I was not successful rebuilding the package on debian due to the
lack of headers for libkleo4. This clearly must be possible but
haven't worked out the details.

Bug#561724: Debian bug report and please to make Plasma more robust

2009-12-22 Thread Martin Steigerwald

This is reported as http://bugs.debian.org/219449

I still think Plasma should be made *much more* robust regarding defective
plasmoids: http://bugs.kde.org/203754

I non-working power management plasmoid should not be able to eat one's
desktop.

I find the amount of Plasmoid related Plasma crash bugs really unfunny.

Bug#561724: hal 0.5.13-6 or fixed kde-workspace-bin available?

2009-12-22 Thread Martin Steigerwald

Hi!

Bug happened here, desktop without Plasma for now - feels really quite
crippled.

http://snapshot.debian.net doesn't carry a workable hal version.

Does anyone have hal available 0.5.13-6?

Or a fixed kde-workspace-bin?

Ciao,

It is possible, but it wasn't shipped because the API was not stable, and we
do not have the man power to deal with that.

I'll ask the team again to check the state of this.

Hello,

when investigating this issue further, I determined that fork() following
pthread_create() sometimes makes the application crash. In order to reproduce,
build attached minifail.cpp with:

$ g++ -I/usr/include/qt4 -lQtCore minifail.cpp -o minifail -O0 -g

(pipe()/read()/write() are only used to sync parent with child after fork(),
they are irrelevant for the problem).

When repeatedly running it as `minifail` (pure_test() mode), I get:

KPackage has been removed from upstream KDE SC in 4.4, so, it will
also be removed from debian when kdeadmin 4.4 is packaged.

kdebase-workspace override disparity

2009-12-22 Thread Archive Administrator
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the
override file for the following file(s):

kdm_4.3.4-2_amd64.deb: package says section is x11, override says kde.
klipper_4.3.4-2_amd64.deb: package says section is x11, override says kde.

Please note that a list of new sections were recently added to the
archive: cli-mono, database, debug, fonts, gnu-r, gnustep, haskell,
httpd, java, kernel, lisp, localization, ocaml, php, ruby, vcs, video,
xfce, zope. At this time a script was used to reclassify packages into
these sections. If this is the case, please only reply to this email if
the new section is inappropriate, otherwise please update your package
at the next upload.

Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think
the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package
so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the
override is incorrect then please file a bug against ftp.debian.org and
explain why. Please INCLUDE the list of packages as seen above, or we
won't be able to deal with your request due to missing information.

Please make sure that the subject of the bug you file follows the
following format:

Subject: override: BINARY1:section/priority, [...], BINARYX:section/priority

Include the justification for the change in the body of the mail please.

plasma-desktop crashes immediatey on startup in some configurations,
both on login and subsequent manual launches. This is triggered by hal
0.5.14-1, and keeping hal at 0.5.13-6 fixes the issue.

This is reported [1] and fixed upstream [2]. I'm filing it here for
the benefit of others, and to request a backport to 4.3.4 in Debian
(the patch looks very simple).
