What worked good in KDE 3.5.9 is now broken: 1. It's not possible to tell KDE (4.2.2) to maximize a window only to the size of one monitor instead of maximizing it over the whole desktop (two monitors). 2. It's not possible to tell KDE 4.2.2 to open a window on a specific monitor (in my case, the right one). Others (users of the debian NG) report, that their windows maximize always to one monitor and they cannot find a setting to tell KDE to maximize over two monitor. They use an older Qt-Version so this might be related. What works is, that I can tell KDE to use different background images. When configuring the login manager (system settings) both monitors are recognized and identified as '1' and '2'. In the display settings dialog, there's no sign that I use two monitors. Everything looks like I had one monitor with a setting of 2048x960 (just like pure xinerama). The button 'identify output' recognizes the whole desktop as one named 'default'. I made screenshots, that show the problem. They can be found here: http://81.169.152.37/screens/xinerama-1.jpeg http://81.169.152.37/screens/xinerama-2.jpeg http://81.169.152.37/screens/xinerama-3.jpeg http://81.169.152.37/screens/xinerama-4.jpeg Other window managers (I testet at least icewm) maximize the window to only one monitor using the same xorg.conf setting. Felix Geyer: - Compress binary packages with xz. - Build qtcreator out-of-source. - Link Qt Creator against the system botan library instead of using the bundled one. - Add botan_system_lib.diff slightly adapted from openSUSE. - Build-depend on libbotan1.10-dev and pkg-config. - Drop Use_bzr_branch_instead_of_bzr_clone.patch and Fix_revno_detection_in_bzr_log.patch: merged upstream. - Don't call dh_makeshlibs as qtcreator doesn't provide any public shared libraries. * Remove posix_rt_nonlinux.diff. It applies against 3rd party botan, but we are now using the system botan. * Export CFLAGS, CXXFLAGS, LDFLAGS for hardening and QT_SELECT to choose qt4. * Change Depends and Recommends of packages qtcreator and qtcreator-doc. * Update 02_use_x-terminal-emulator.diff. The changes seems to come from Ubuntu, but I don't know who did it. * Remove unused patch posix_rt_nonlinux.diff. * Make every package that ships a binary managed by qtchooser depend on it. * Build the documentation using qmake. Taken from Ubuntu. * Override dh_install to pass --fail-missing. * Tell git to use dpkg-mergechangelogs on merging changelogs. * Update install files: - Fix documentation path. - Do not install the private version of libbotan, we are not using it. - Other updates, sorted. * Update the Icon field in qtcreator.desktop. * Build-depend on libx11-dev, avoiding a FTBFS. * Add a lintian override for qtcreator.sh. Sorry that we haven't addressed this issue yet, but we are a bit swamped in 1300 bug reports and sometimes things fall past the cracks. If this is unsatisfactory, you are most welcome to join in or alternatively contact your software vendor and ask for a refund. Attached is a patch fixing the problem. It is untested, since I don't feel like installing all the dependencies to build kde4libs. You could also just define KDE_NO_DEBUG_OUTPUT, but that might be a bit much. Just as a note, this bug has been present in KDE for at least the last decade. I didn't mean to be so blunt, but as a non-KDE user, it pops up at the most inconvenient times, and it is rather annoying when it does, since it forces me to abandon a terminal that I'm working in, usually with 2 lines of important scrollback. -- brian m. carlson / brian with sandals: Houston, Texas, US +1 832 623 2791 | http://www.crustytoothpaste.net/~bmc | My opinion only OpenPGP: RSA v4 4096b: 88AC E9B2 9196 305B A994 7552 F1BA 225C 0223 B187 diff --git a/kdecore/io/kdebug.h b/kdecore/io/kdebug.h index ccb3a2a..6b327f5 100644 --- a/kdecore/io/kdebug.h +++ b/kdecore/io/kdebug.h @@ -150,7 +150,7 @@ KDECORE_EXPORT void kClearDebugConfig(); * @param area an id to identify the output, KDE_DEFAULT_DEBUG_AREA for default */ static inline QDebug kDebug(int area = KDE_DEFAULT_DEBUG_AREA) -{ return kDebugStream(QtDebugMsg, area); } +{ return area == 7021 ? kDebugDevNull() : kDebugStream(QtDebugMsg, area); } static inline QDebug kDebug(bool cond, int area = KDE_DEFAULT_DEBUG_AREA) { return cond ? kDebug(area) : kDebugDevNull(); } signature.asc Description: Digital signature

About gpgme1.0 (1.4.1-0.1) and libpth-dev
¡Hola! In your upload of gpgme1.0, you dropped the libpth-dev build-dep which means that libgpgme-pth.so is not generated. This causes a FTBFS for kdepimlibs, and also breaks the current libgpgme++2 in unstable and testing. This is not the expected way to handle libraries and transitions. Please, whenever you deal with libraries you need to have extra care not to mess up with the packages that depend on it. Is there any reason for the drop? If not, please add it again. I understand that you want the modal dialog to be on top but it is enough for it to be on top of the creator. Having it scream for attention while you have to work on something else is plain anyoing. I have just tried what you described with qtcreator 2.7.0-1 and could not reproduce this bug. On the other hand, in case this stills applies for you, it's just a wishlist bug, so I'm lowering the severity to that value. And I really think this is a problem on your window manager, as Qt creator just follows Qt's behaviour. Please report it via Help - Report bug... menu item of the respective application or by visiting https://bugs.kde.org/ and following instructions to report a new bug. Debian Qt/KDE maintainers do not have resources to deal with non Debian-specific bugs and therefore it is unlikely that your bug will be solved if you do not report it to KDE developers directly (unless it is/has been reported by somebody else). Whenever you open a bug report on the KDE bug tracking system, or you find that the bug has been already reported on it, you can couple both this Debian bug and the KDE bug together by sending a mail with the text below to control at bugs.debian.org (replace KDE-BUG-URL with the address of the bug report on https://bugs.kde.org/) [ copy this ] forwarded 705642 KDE-BUG-URL thanks [ copy this ] Thank you, -- Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer http://perezmeyer.com.ar/ http://perezmeyer.blogspot.com/ signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
