[Answer Call for Help] Some Patches from Downstream

2014-05-02 Thread Leszek Lesner
Hi Debian Qt-KDE Team,

I just wanted to offer some help and suggestions for future releases of
KDE in Debian.
My name is Leszek Lesner and I am the main developer of Neptune which is
a Debian stable based distribution offering KDE SC.
We mainly package KDE SC packages from Kubuntu nowadays and provide our
own repository for it.
https://wiki.debian.org/Derivatives/Census/ZevenOS-Neptune )

We added several patches mainly for kde-runtime to avoid some errors
with the usage of the latest phonon and pulseaudio restoring system
sound 100% when playing a notification ( see:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324975 ) [Current Wheezy KDE
shouldn't be affected but Sid is (at least last time I tested before pa
5.0)]
and also a small bugfix for not showing all pulseaudio sound
configurations in systemsettings (in comparison to pavucontrol)
All our patches so far can be found here and will be updated:
https://github.com/NeptuneOS/kde-patches

Surely they maybe also be able to be backported to older versions.
I am afraid I cannot offer any more help though in packaging and other
stuff as I am involved in several other projects aswell already but I
hope that these patches (and perhaps future ones) might become helpful
to some extend.

Greetings
Leszek

Hello, I've been lurking at /r/debian and debian-dev mailing list for a while

So, as far as my background is concerned, I'm not a professional developer or
anything, but I have basic knowledge of bash, programming in java/c, and have
been using debian for approximately a year.
Basically, I m a noob and if you want to me do something be very specific and
  I ll do my best.

It sort of depends on what you prefer, and how confortable you are with our
developing environment and tools.

The call for help includes a list of tasks [1], that range among different
requirements, the one to unify the TODO lists is probably one that has a high
priority, and as a requirement you'll only need a wiki user and to use gobby to
access the TODO list in gobby.debian.org Teams/KDE.

On the other hand, if you prefer a coding challenge most of the bugs tagged as
upstream [2] require a patch to be made in the upstream code. The list of
requirements for this varies a lot, so it's hard to say.

If I have to pick something for you, I would say, start with the TODO list, it
would give you an overall idea of the things that need to be done and it would
help other contributors to have easier access to the information. If that's not
your thing, just tell us about it.

Bug#710554: kopete: cannot connect to google talk/jabber account

2014-05-02 Thread Aaron

Hi,

I think the bug can be closed since it is not reproducible anymore. It seems
the problem was with kopeterc file. The solution that worked for me was to
delete the file and let kopete to recreate it anew.

Assigning tasks is way too hard, it's easier for us if you tell us which of
the tasks listed in the call for help [1] interest you and how can we help you
with it.

If you still prefer to have a task assigned, I would say that cleaning some
old bugs would help us. That means checking bugs that have no activity for
quite some time (let's say 6 months), verify that the bug is still there and
close it otherwise. In any case, add a new entry in the bug log saying what
you found.

From CVE-2007-6591:
KDE Konqueror 3.5.5 and 3.95.00, when a user accepts an SSL server certificate
on the basis of the CN domain name in the DN field, regards the certificate as
also accepted for all domain names in subjectAltName:dNSName fields, even though
these fields cannot be examined in the product, which makes it easier for remote
attackers to trick a user into accepting an invalid certificate for a spoofed
web site.

Package: Debian (sid/squeeze)
Version: ( all versions weekly from 6/1 to present) /I do apt-get
upgrade weekly./

I have 2 CD/DVD writers (different brands. The are hooked to the IDE
channel. I can boot from them, and I can also burn ISO or music to CD,
with no problem.

My problem is with reading a CD. I normally put in a Music CD (for
instance), the menu comes up asking what I'd like to open with, if I
select Music Manager (Amarok), it can play them or I can burn to another
CD. Catch here, I can not add the song or songs to the collection.
Blanked out.
If I select Open with file manager or Konquorer, it just simply sits
with an open screen and says Insert a CD. Never shows the contents.

I suspect, one of the weekly apt-get upgrade libraries has messed
something up, but I don't have a clue. Here is my sources.list:

deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ sid main
deb ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/ sid main
deb ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main

deb http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ sid/updates main non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main non-free

Example of what I get in dmesg when inserting a CD:
[ 437.305945] cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
[ 438.310734] cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!

Bug#746730: ark has broken service menu

2014-05-02 Thread Kyloren
Package: ark
Version: 4:4.12.4-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

ark_servicemenu.desktop has a missing ; between application/zip and
application/x-deb mime types breaking
right click extraction options for those two types. I'm not sure if it's
related or if the mistake is located
else where but it also doesn't seem to register itself at all for those file
types thus left clicking a zip or
deb file just brings up an open with dialog.

Bug#746316: plasma-desktop crashes every 6 minutes exact

2014-05-02 Thread moli
Guys,
First, i'm sad, noone reacted for nearly a week.
Second, a minute ago i incidentally found a more specific cause of the
bug: the plasma-desktop crashes directly after i click on the software
updater icon in the system tray and the getting updates, querying
appears. And despite i get a notification about new packages in the
notifications, the software updater icon does not come up by itself
like it did in the past.

So, there we have a much more definite source of the bug.

Which log should i attach for you?
