Bug#1065015: t64 libs providing incorrect package names.
Source: akonadi-search Version: 4:22.12.3-1.1 Usertags: time-t With the changes in #1061881, we have run into a slight problem with the library packages in akonadi-search. Specifically, you get a library like libkf5akonadisearchpim5 / libkf5akonadisearchpim5t64. libkf5akonadisearchpim5t64 provides libkf5akonadisearchpim5, which is good, however libkf5akonadisearchpim5 provides libkf5akonadisearchpim5-22.12, and libkf5akonadisearchpim5t64 provides libkf5akonadisearchpim5t64-22.12. As most packages are depending on the versioned provides, this makes it impossible to upgrade the libraries.

To ensure that inconsistent combinations of libraries with their reverse-dependencies are never installed together, it is necessary to have a library transition, which is most easily done by renaming the runtime library package. Since turning on 64-bit time_t is being handled centrally through a change to the default dpkg-buildflags (https://bugs.debian.org/1037136), it is important that libraries affected by this ABI change all be uploaded close together in time. Therefore I have prepared a 0-day NMU for kmime which will initially be uploaded to experimental if possible, then to unstable after packages have cleared binary NEW. Please find the patch for this NMU attached. If you have any concerns about this patch, please reach out ASAP. Although this package will be uploaded to experimental immediately, there will be a period of several days before we begin uploads to unstable; so if information becomes available that your package should not be included in the transition, there is time for us to amend the planned uploads. -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.5.0-15-generic (SMP w/8 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_OOT_MODULE Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: unable to detect diff -Nru kmime-22.12.3/debian/changelog kmime-22.12.3/debian/changelog --- kmime-22.12.3/debian/changelog 2023-03-01 20:30:40.0 + +++ kmime-22.12.3/debian/changelog 2024-02-01 17:05:37.0 + @@ -1,3 +1,10 @@ +kmime (22.12.3-1.1) experimental; urgency=medium + + * Non-maintainer upload. + * Rename libraries for 64-bit time_t transition. + + -- Graham Inggs Thu, 01 Feb 2024 17:05:37 + + kmime (22.12.3-1) unstable; urgency=medium [ Patrick Franz ] diff -Nru kmime-22.12.3/debian/control kmime-22.12.3/debian/control --- kmime-22.12.3/debian/control2023-03-01 18:26:50.0 + +++ kmime-22.12.3/debian/control2024-02-01 17:05:37.0 + @@ -36,7 +36,7 @@ Multi-Arch: same Depends: libkf5codecs-dev (>= 5.99.0~), libkf5i18n-dev (>= 5.99.0~), - libkf5mime5abi1 (= ${binary:Version}), + libkf5mime5abi1t64 (= ${binary:Version}), qtbase5-dev (>= 5.15.2~), ${misc:Depends}, Description: library for handling MIME data - development files @@ -48,7 +48,9 @@ . Therefore I have prepared a 0-day NMU for kompare which will initially be uploaded to experimental if possible, then to unstable after packages have cleared binary NEW. -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.5.0-15-generic (SMP w/8 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_OOT_MODULE Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: unable to detect diff -Nru kompare-22.12.3/debian/changelog kompare-22.12.3/debian/changelog --- kompare-22.12.3/debian/changelog2023-03-01 10:58:20.0 + +++ kompare-22.12.3/debian/changelog2024-02-01 17:20:53.0 + @@ -1,3 +1,10 @@ +kompare (4:22.12.3-1.1) experimental; urgency=medium + + * Non-maintainer upload. + * Rename libraries for 64-bit time_t transition. + + -- Graham Inggs Thu, 01 Feb 2024 17:20:53 + + kompare (4:22.12.3-1) unstable; urgency=medium [ Aurélien COUDERC ] diff -Nru kompare-22.12.3/debian/control kompare-22.12.3/debian/control --- kompare-22.12.3/debian/control 2023-03-01 10:33:00.0 + +++ kompare-22.12.3/debian/control 2024-02-01 17:20:53.0 + @@ -55,7 +55,7 @@ Package: libkompareinterface-dev Architecture: any Section: libdevel -Depends: libkompareinterface5 (= ${binary:Version}), ${misc:Depends}, +Depends: libkompareinterface5t64 (= ${binary:Version}), ${misc:Depends}, Description: file difference viewer - kpart interface library development files Kompare displays the differences between files. Bug#1062390: t64 transition plans for these packages?
Hello, All of these bugs have been un-tagged 'pending', so as a result our batch NMU scripting is skipping over them and we are currently not NMUing them to unstable. However, the bugs have not been closed, suggesting that they are invalid; and there is no information in the bugs about maintainer plans for handling these packages. Could you please clarify what your intention is here? -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. Your message dated Wed, 28 Feb 2024 15:13:37 + with message-id and subject line Bug#1062485: fixed in libnova 0.16-5.1 has caused the Debian Bug report #1062485, regarding libnova: NMU diff for 64-bit time_t transition to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 1062485: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1062485 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems --- Begin Message --- Source: libnova Version: 0.16-5 Severity: serious Tags: patch pending Justification: library ABI skew on upgrade User: debian-...@lists.debian.org Usertags: time-t Dear maintainer, As part of the 64-bit time_t transition required to support 32-bit architectures in 2038 and beyond (https://wiki.debian.org/ReleaseGoals/64bit-time), we have identified libnova as a source package shipping runtime libraries whose ABI either is affected by the change in size of time_t, or could not be analyzed via abi-compliance-checker (and therefore to be on the safe side we assume is affected). Therefore I have prepared a 0-day NMU for libnova which will initially be uploaded to experimental if possible, then to unstable after packages have cleared binary NEW. -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.5.0-14-generic (SMP w/12 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_PROPRIETARY_MODULE, TAINT_OOT_MODULE Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) diff -Nru libnova-0.16/debian/changelog libnova-0.16/debian/changelog --- libnova-0.16/debian/changelog 2020-11-08 08:55:47.0 + +++ libnova-0.16/debian/changelog 2024-02-01 17:01:22.0 + @@ -1,3 +1,10 @@ +libnova (0.16-5.1) experimental; urgency=medium + + * Non-maintainer upload. + * Rename libraries for 64-bit time_t transition. + + -- Steve Langasek Thu, 01 Feb 2024 17:01:22 + + libnova (0.16-5) unstable; urgency=medium * Team upload. diff -Nru libnova-0.16/debian/control libnova-0.16/debian/control --- libnova-0.16/debian/control 2020-11-08 08:20:45.0 + +++ libnova-0.16/debian/control 2024-02-01 17:01:21.0 + @@ -10,7 +10,10 @@ Vcs-Browser: https://salsa.debian.org/qt-kde-team/3rdparty/libnova Vcs-Git: https://salsa.debian.org/qt-kde-team/3rdparty/libnova.git -Package: libnova-0.16-0 +Package: libnova-0.16-0t64 +Provides: ${t64:Provides} +Replaces: libnova-0.16-0 +Breaks: libnova-0.16-0 (<< ${source:Version}) Architecture: any Depends: ${misc:Depends}, ${shlibs:Depends} Pre-Depends: ${misc:Pre-Depends} @@ -23,7 +26,7 @@ Architecture: any Multi-Arch: same Section: libdevel -Depends: libnova-0.16-0 (= ${binary:Version}), +Depends: libnova-0.16-0t64 (= ${binary:Version}), libnova-dev-bin (= ${binary:Version}), ${misc:Depends}, ${shlibs:Depends}, diff -Nru libnova-0.16/debian/libnova-0.16-0.install libnova-0.16/debian/libnova-0.16-0.install --- libnova-0.16/debian/libnova-0.16-0.install 2020-11-08 08:01:23.0 + +++ libnova-0.16/debian/libnova-0.16-0.install 1970-01-01 00:00:00.0 + @@ -1,2 +0,0 @@ -usr/lib/*/libnova-0.16.so.0 -usr/lib/*/libnova-0.16.so.0.* diff -Nru libnova-0.16/debian/libnova-0.16-0t64.install libnova-0.16/debian/libnova-0.16-0t64.install --- libnova-0.16/debian/libnova-0.16-0t64.install 1970-01-01 00:00:00.0 + +++ libnova-0.16/debian/libnova-0.16-0t64.install 2020-11-08 08:01:23.0 + @@ -0,0 +1,2 @@ +usr/lib/*/libnova-0.16.so.0 +usr/lib/*/libnova-0.16.so.0.* diff -Nru
