Bug#798600: korganizer fails to start, ultimately because of mysql failing to start

2015-09-10 Thread Dylan Thurston
Package: korganizer
Version: 4:4.14.10-2
Severity: normal

korganizer fails to start on my local computer, because it fails to
start akonadi, because mysqld segfaults on startup. (As such, this bug
report should probably be redirected, but I'm not sure where is
best. I checked for open bugs on akonadi-server and mysql-server, and
didn't see anything that looked relevant.)

Details: I run an xfce environment, with xfwm4. korganizer is the only
KDE application that I use. Starting korganizer brings up a message
"The Akonadi personal information management service is not
operational." The "Details" button provided shows that the most
relevant error appears to be that "MySQL server log contains
errors". I've attached the full report (from the "Copy report to
clipboard" option).

The errors started occuring right around the time of the gcc transition.

I don't know why akonadi-server and mysql don't appear on the package
list below, but akondai-server is version 1.13.0-8,
mysql-server-core-5.6 is version 5.6.25-4, and here are some more:

Versions of packages akonadi-server depends on:
ii akonadi-backend-mysql 1.13.0-8

Please let me know what further information I can provide.

Bug#736471: okular: Many documents lead to extreme slow down/no display

2014-01-24 Thread Dylan Thurston
On Thu, Jan 23, 2014 at 11:33:22PM -0300, Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer
wr This is (possibly) not a bug in okular. I can't reproduce it at home, but I
used to see this behavior in $job. It seems that okular hangs while looking
for a printer, normally not a local one but a shared one.

Have you tried opening the pdf with your network disabled?

I just tried opening the document with the network disabled, and it
was indeed fast. But why does it only happen with certain documents?
That suggests it might be something that okular is doing.

Best,
Dylan

Bug#736471: okular: Many documents lead to extreme slow down/no display

2014-01-23 Thread Dylan Thurston
Package: okular
Version: 4:4.11.3-1+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

For a couple weeks, the unstable version of okular has been extremely
slow opening certain documents. Most of the documents were non-public,
but I just came across a public document with this behaviour:

http://media.scgp.stonybrook.edu/newsletter/SCGP_Newsletter_fall_2013-web.pdf

On my system, this document display a blank gray screen for about 30
seconds when opened. Strace reveals that it is spending a lot of time
reading the cups configuration. I've attached the bzip'ed strace
output.

Note that this does not happen with most documents.

Thanks,
Dylan Thurston

Bug#687677: okular: Trim margins doesn't always

2012-09-14 Thread Dylan Thurston
Package: okular
Version: 4:4.8.4-2
Severity: normal

The trim margins option does not always work: sometimes pages appear
with no trimming at all. This seems to particularly often happen when
using the 'Facing page' option (without 'Continuous'). The second of
the two pages displayed at a time does not get trimmed. If pages n
and n+1 are displayed at a time, this will be page n+1 if you paged
forward (from pages n-2,n-1), and page n if you paged backwards (from
pages n+2,n+3).

Earlier versions did not have this problem, I'm not sure exactly when
it manifested.

Best,
Dylan Thurston

Bug#508634: okular: Does not exit full screen mode

 Hi,

 you reported http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=508634 some
 time
ago. Since then, KDE Software Compilation had several releases. Can you
 please
verify whether the bug you reported is still present in a more current
 version
(and - if yes - specify which version)?

It's still present in the version currently in Debian unstable, Debian
version 4:4.4.5-1. The form may have changed slightly. The way I
would currently describe it is that if you quit okular while it is in
full screen mode, the next time you start it it will enter full screen
mode (which is reasonable), and then when you exit full screen mode
okular keeps all the same settings, namely, window size just larger
than the screen resolution and no menu bar. It thus appears to still
be in full screen mode, but if you understand that this is what's
going on, it's easy to work around. I would rate it as a 'minor' bug
at the moment.

Best,
Dylan Thurston
