I don't have clang package, because that one is counter-productive,
since it only pulls in whatever latest is considered to be the default,
and sets up clang symlinks; all of that i do manually (pointing to the
ToT version.)

Note that it complains about the build-time dependencies.
Is libFormat correctly specified as compile-time dependency of qtcreator?

Bug#939825: qtcreator: clang-format plugin broken

Dear maintainer, after update to qtcreator 4.10.0-1,
on the first start, qtcreator is complaining that ClangFormat plugin
has errors and can not be loaded: "Plugin initialization failed: Disabling
ClangFormat plugin as it is not built against a suitable version of Clang's
libFormat. For more information, see the Qt Creator README at
https://code.qt.io/cgit/qt-creator/qt-creator.git/tree/README.md;

clang-format is a really important piece of modern workflow, so i set
priority to important.

Roman.

Presently, with qtcreator 4.8.0-1, this issue is gone,
although i guess the LLVM packages still needs to bump the ABI?

BUT there are good news too.
After installing apt-build, and rebuilding qtcreator, it now works!

So the package needs to be re-uploaded/rebuilt for this to be fixed.
While there, maybe upload the 4.8 that is already in
https://salsa.debian.org/qt-kde-team/qt/qtcreator/commits/master :)

Very interesting. That helped.
I guess i have mixed up the timeframe, *or* there is something else going on.

Bug#914002: qtcreator's clang code model appears to be broken with kit = clang

2018-11-18 Thread Roman Lebedev
Package: qtcreator
Version: 4.7.2-2
Severity: important

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

If kit is gcc, the project (any fresh one i open) is parsed normally.
All the symbols are resolved, and i can go to the definition.

If kit is clang (tried with both the clang 7, and llvm trunk),
the parsing appears to fail, pretty much all the C++ std:: symbols
are underscored, and marked as not found.

But building works with any of these kits.
So this should be somehow a qtcreator clangcodemodel issue?

It might be as simple as rebuilding llvm and/or qtcreator,
which would imply that it is yet again yet another manifestation
of the "update of gcc breaks clang-based tools"..

Roman.

Based on disscussion in #debian-kde, i believe the issue *mostly* happens
only if the mesa driver that is used, is linked to llvm:

dpkg -L libgl1-mesa-dri | grep ".so$" | xargs ldd | grep -i "_dri.so\|llvm"
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/i915_dri.so:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/i965_dri.so:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/kms_swrast_dri.so:

And *probably* *will not* happen with
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/i915_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/i965_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/nouveau_vieux_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/r200_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/radeon_dri.so

As suggested in the IRC, simple rebuild against llvm-3.9 should fix it.

What i think is happening is that kdevelop uses llvm-3.8,
and i have clang-3.9 which also pulls llvm-3.9
So *please* try with llvm-3.8 *and* llvm-3.9 both installed.

So there are two llvm versions at play at the same time?
I don't think that should work :)

Also, i guess kdevelop needs to be a part of llvm transition.
