Bug#747445: plasma-desktop: Buttons "Sleep" and "Hibernate" not working any more after update to 4:4.8.11-1

2014-05-08 Thread Thomas Zoschke
Package: plasma-desktop
Version: 4:4.11.8-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

The "Sleep" and "Hibernate" buttons used to work propperly before the last
update.
Now after pressing any of both buttons, just the screen is locked, no suspend
to RAM or hibernate to disk happens.
I can still hibernate and suspend from the shell like this:
$ sudo dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest="org.freedesktop.UPower"
/org/freedesktop/UPower org.freedesktop.UPower.Suspend
or
$ sudo dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest="org.freedesktop.UPower"
/org/freedesktop/UPower org.freedesktop.UPower.Hibernate

But I'd like to have my buttons working again. Isn't that what a desktop
environment is good for?

Thanks for Your attention
TZ

Bug#702699: okular: extreme slow down of search in version of wheezy compared to sqeezy

2013-03-10 Thread Thomas Zoschke
Package: okular
Version: 4:4.8.4-3+b1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

Searching (aka. 'Find') a larger pdf-document (1326 pages 11 MB) with a short
search string from beginning of the document to
the end used to take 22 seconds on my laptop with the squeezy version of okular
(okular 0.10... debian 4:4.4.5).
After a dist upgrade to debian wheezy (with okular 0.14.3 debian 4:4.8.4) i
noticed the same search slowed down to somewhat
over a minute. That's a slowdown by almost Faktor three.
Shouldn't new software generaly run faster?
It's anoying as I use searching larger pdfs rather frequently.
I noticed (using xosview) the old okular was running the search on a single cpu
core while the newer
one is using both cpu cores I have.
This means the total used cpu time increased by factor 6! I understand that
parallelizing an algorithm some tratdeoffs have
to be made, but factor 6 is absolutely unacceptable.
I understand that on an 8 core the new paralleliced search might require less
wallclock time,
but I *CANNOT* accept 'by an 8 core' as a bugfix.

The problem might very well reside in one of okulars library packages.
Please report this problem upstream.

Thanx
Thomas Zoschke
