Bug#1032394: libqt5positioning5-plugins: Serial NMEA plugin is missing

2023-03-10 Thread Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer
Control: tag -1 patch

Hi!

I have just created
https://salsa.debian.org/qt-kde-team/qt/qtlocation/-/merge_requests/3

I created a MR because I am not strictly sure we can push this now due to
freeze.

Apart from that Salsa shows no diff for that MR, which is odd... so I guess one
will have to compare the branches by hand :-/

Yes, it is possible. Sadly we won't make it for the bullseye release :-( I
would be more than happy to add that feature as soon as possible

The serial NMEA plugin doesn't need Gypsy GPS Demon. (The plugin is for
directly accessing serial GPS devices). There is a separate plugin that uses
Gypsy.

It does require the qt serial port package though (libqt5serialport5), and I
can't see being referenced in that build log. Does it need to be added as a
dependency?

Cheers,
Jon

I remember looking into this when I've got to package it. Looking at the build
log [1] I think it needs the Gypsy GPS Daemon, which I understand it is not
packaged in Debian.

Dear Maintainer,

It would be good if the serial NMEA plugin could be added
(libqtposition_serialnmea.so), so serial port / USB GPS devices can be used
directly. (These don't appear to be supported by Geoclue).

Thanks.
