Bug#746316: plasma-desktop crashes every 6 minutes exact
Which software updater are you running? apper? I removed apper , now the widget in the system tray gives an error 'file://usr/share/kde4/apps/plasma/plasmoids/org.packagekit.updater/contents/ui/main.qml:22:1: module org.kde.apper is not installed' so i suspect that widget is provided by apper. Could you try removing it from your session or deinstalling it, and checking if that fixes the session crash? That would narrow down the problem. Removing apper removes the bug also. You can decrease the severity of the bug by one level because updating the system keeps the bug away, so the plasma-desktop stays usable, the bug is not 'important' if you keep you system up-to-date, which is the normal behaviour. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. So, there we have a much more definite source of the bug. I'm not sure the bugs are related. Which log should i attach for you? The .session-error that you attached in the original report is way too long as to be helpful. Could you send us one that includes only one sessions history ? Which software updater are you running? apper? I dont know, because manually i use apt-get and synaptic for all my needs. apper is installed, but i couldnt detect the package name of the system updater from the process list, so i dont know, i'm new to kde, sorry. Could you try removing it from your session or deinstalling it, and checking if that fixes the session crash? That would narrow down the problem. Will do, but i need some packages to update so cant test this bug now. Would not want to manually vary the packages to downgrade something to test this out, so will wait for a new update. The .session-error that you attached in the original report is way too long as to be helpful. Could you send us one that includes only one sessions history ? Well, that one session as far as i know. Now, i filed this bug at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334257 too as from the long silence it seemed this isnt the right place for a kde bug, i'm sorry if it causes complication. Please close this or that bug if it is necessary. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Guys, First, i'm sad, noone reacted for nearly a week. Second, a minute ago i incidentally found a more specific cause of the bug: the plasma-desktop crashes directly after i click on the software updater icon in the system tray and the getting updates, querying appears. I mean it crashes every time it was started automatically by kde or i start it by hand from the console, exactly 6 minutes after. I've attached my update log previously with the update times and my reboot times and the time the bug appeared, to see which packages was updated. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
