#636929

I had a look at reportbug's source code as an attempt to create a
patch, but, though I more or less found the place where to put this, I
wasn't sure enough of the right things to do.so this is a bug
report without patch, sorry.

Re: Bug#636929: release.debian.org: add a template for urgency bumps?

2011-08-07 Thread Sandro Tosi
Hello Christian,

On Sun, Aug 7, 2011 at 08:58, Christian Perrier bubu...@debian.org wrote:
This suggestion comes after sending a BR against release.d.o to
request for an urgency bump for a package of mine.

I like the use of the BTS for release-related things, with various
templates for common actions requested to the release team.It could be
good to have a template for urgency bump requests, when one wants to
request raising (or lowering) the urgency of a given package in
 unstable.

The template could ask for the source package name, current urgency
and target urgency, as well as, of course, a rationale.

At least d-release should be added in the loop, in order to allow them
to ack/nack the request (ie if they want such requests as bug report
of a specific category). Added d-r@ let's see what they say.

Bug#635974: pu: package win32-loader/0.6.21+squeeze1

  Dear release team,

One week ago, Didier Raboud wrote:
So in order to fix this, my plan is to upload a win32-loader
0.6.21+squeeze0 to stable(-proposed-update) that would include the
   following changes:

   - add a Built-Using field in the binary package (to track
GPL-compliance) - add the byhand code, backported from current
   unstable (to push the

 standalone version to the archive)

   - document versions and pointers to sources in the pool/ directories
   (to

 enhance documentation)

For what is worth, win32-loader 0.7.4 uploaded on thursday includes all
those changes and its companion text is now available on the mirrors:

  http://ftp.debian.org/debian/tools/win32-loader/unstable/win32-loader.txt

That would be `pool/main', not `main/pool' in the URLs?

Good point, thank you. win32-loader 0.7.4.1 fixes that and has been uploaded
right now.

By the way, what more should I do to get this fixed ?

Cheers,

Bug#636966: ruby1.9.1: should not bump shlibs with every upload

2011-08-07 Thread Philipp Kern
Package: ruby1.9.1
Version: 1.9.2.180-3
Severity: important

ruby blocks other transitions quite easily because it passes -V to
dh_mkshlibs. This causes packages that are built against the ruby in unstable
to adopt strict dependencies on that particular upstream version. Given that
we occassionally encounter FTBFS bugs with ruby, it would help a lot if you
could transition to symbol files instead (or any other way that doesn't
cause the upstream version to appear unnecessarily).

Kind regards and thanks,

Bug#636945: pu: package ace/5.7.7-4

Sorry, this seems to have fallen off our radar at some point. As a
general comment, when you're providing pre-built packages for people to
check, it's generally helpful if the .dsc / .changes are signed, to
provide some sort of trust path for the download.

Overall, the re-packaging looks okay; thanks. Checking the diff was
made slightly more annoying by the fact that the source package is
tarball-in-tarball and packaged in a way that debdiff's automatic
support for that format doesn't seem to like, but never mind.

One quick question on the changes, however:

-ace (5.7.7-4) unstable; urgency=high
+ace (5.7.7+dfsg-1) stable; urgency=low
[...]
+ace (5.7.7-4) unstable; urgency=low

Why was the urgency on the -4 stanza changed?

Regards,

Adam

changing the name of the -dev package?

It looks like the debian maintainer used the soversion in the dev package
name. Upstream never said that it became incompatible and I cannot find the
important change which would have changed the API.

Hello,
Did the API change incompatibly or is there another reason for
changing the name of the -dev package?

Sorry, this seems to have fallen off our radar at some point. As a
general comment, when you're providing pre-built packages for people to
check, it's generally helpful if the .dsc / .changes are signed, to
provide some sort of trust path for the download.

Sorry about that.

Overall, the re-packaging looks okay; thanks. Checking the diff was
made slightly more annoying by the fact that the source package is
tarball-in-tarball and packaged in a way that debdiff's automatic
support for that format doesn't seem to like, but never mind.

Yes. Packaging was overhauled in unstable to avoid that.

One quick question on the changes, however:

 -ace (5.7.7-4) unstable; urgency=high
 +ace (5.7.7+dfsg-1) stable; urgency=low
 [...]
 +ace (5.7.7-4) unstable; urgency=low

Why was the urgency on the -4 stanza changed?

My mistake, good catch, thanks! (I guess I forgot to commit the urgency
bump; hence the issue.)

I'll make a new package and publish it again at the same location,
signed this time.

Regards,

Thomas

Bug#637020: pu: package zfsutils/8.1-5

2011-08-07 Thread Robert Millan
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: pu

This proposed update fixes three problems that may cause boot errors
when zfsutils is installed:

  * Set X-Start-Before: checkroot so that boot doesn't break when
fstab relies on ZFS volumes. (Closes: #635627)
  * Do not mount/unmount filesystems! This may result in unbootable
system if their mountpoints collide (typical in a dual-boot
machine). Use /etc/fstab instead.
  * Set X-Stop-After: umountfs to ensure ZVOLs are no longer in use
when zfs volfini is called.

I presume that it would still unshare the volume prior to umount?

Your change seems to contradict the OpenSolaris ZFS documentation[1]. It
postulates that automatic mount management is what you want and the other way
is legacy. Now the consequence of that chance is that the ZFS data structures
tell that they should be automounted at $location but we ignore that now?

Doesn't that have the potential for breakage upon the next reboot after
installing that stable update? (Especially for machines with a single
kFreeBSDZFS instance, i.e. servers?)

Kind regards,
Philipp Kern

Bug#637040: RM: t1lib/5.1.2-3

2011-08-07 Thread Michael Gilbert
Package: release.debian.org
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: rm
Severity: normal

Hi,

t1lib has a significant set of security vulnerablities [0] and there
is no sign of them ever getting fixed with upstream missing in action
for over three years now. Because of these issues, xpdf for example
has dropped support for it in favor of freetype2 [1]. poppler did
this a long time ago as well.

There are a few reverse dependencies, which could also be updated to
use freetype instead. These include:

  php5 (php5-gd binary package)
  xdvik-ja
  vflib3
  matita
  libimager-perl
  lablgtkmathview
  grace
  evince (libevince3 binary package)
  dvipng

I would recommend removing t1lib from the archive. If the release
team concurs with this, I will file serious bugs against the
reverse dependencies.

Once that's done and everyone is in concurrance, I'll send a
message to the ftp masters for removal.

Best wishes,
Mike
