RE: Bug#745019: problems with 2.6.32 kernel (and wheezy libnl3)

2014-04-19 Thread Dietmar Maurer
As I was doing an upload for another problem anyway, I backported the fix from
the upstream git into our 3.2.24.

2.6.32 was the kernel from squeeze, while wheezy uses mainly 3.2, so I'm not
sure if this fix is critical enough to warrant a stable update.

I've therefore added debian-release to get an answer to this question :-) .

Thanks. I just want to mention that this affects all OpenVZ users, because
OpenVZ
is still using a 2.6.32 kernel.

 Another transition. The plan is:

1/ upload from experimental to unstable:
 evolution-data-server
 evolution
 evolution-mapi
 evolution-ews

 2/ binnmu as needed

I have rebuilt the rdeps locally and all are fine except a couple of
evolution-dev build-rdeps that check for evolution-plugin.pc, as that
file has been removed in 3.12. Affected packages only seem to be
evolution-rss and mail-notification. I hope to get fixes for these
in sid before the transition starts so that those can just be binnmu'ed.
But that shouldn't be a blocker as I can NMU those if needed.

mail-notification is fixed in sid, and evolution-rss is fixed in experimental
and will be uploaded to unstable when the transition starts.

The fix is also one-liner.

Maybe we can combine the two - this #742386 and CVE-2014-2894 - into
single pu?

Looking at the source for the 2.0.0 packages uploaded to unstable
yesterday, it looks like they contain the CVE fix? If so then the
security-tracker needs updating, as
https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2014-2894 lists
unstable as vulnerable. If the security team don't plan to issue a DSA
for the issue (which I don't know if they've decided yet) then the
patch looks sane enough to include in the p-u.

Yes, 2.0.0 contains the (last-minute) fix.

And no, this fix is definitely worth a DSA.

So I'm uploading +deb7u2 to wheezy-pu as has been already agreed
before,

to catch the train to 7.5. With intention to fix CVE-2014-2894 later.

Okay.

Both uploads flagged for acceptance; thanks.

Hi release team,

Please, remove tcl8.4 (and its close relative tk8.4) from testing.
It reached end of life and superseded by tcl8.5/tk8.5 and tcl8.6/tk8.6,
so, it should be dropped from jessie release.

There is only one package in testing that still depends on tcl8.4:
mpqc on ia64 architecture.

Later, when all packages in unstable will drop the dependency on tcl8.4,
I'll ask ftpmasters to remove it from unstable as well (there are 3
packages left: idzebra for hurd-i386, mpqc for ia64 and mozart for
a few architectures).

This happened a while ago, but the (for whatever reason) separate RM

If it's not too late for the upcoming point release, I'd like to
include a newer version of libdatetime-timezone-perl. (The reason
I've been waiting until today is that I was hoping for another new
upstream release; but well ...).

The update includes the Olson DB versions 2013i and 2014a (but not
yet 2014b).

As usual, the changes are in a quilt patch which touches only the
actual timezone data, no code.

I'm attaching a stripped down debdiff against the version in wheezy,
the full patch is at
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-perl/packages/libdatetime-timezone-perl.git;a=blob;f=debian/patches/olson-2014a;hb=refs/heads/wheezy

Bug#745250: wheezy-pu: package libdatetime-timezone-perl/1:1.58-1+2014a

2014-04-19 Thread Adam D. Barratt

Control: tags -1 + confirmed

If it's not too late for the upcoming point release, I'd like to

I've been waiting until today is that I was hoping for another new
upstream release; but well ...).

Technically, it is, as I said on IRC that I was closing it five minutes
before you submitted the bug :-) However:

The update includes the Olson DB versions 2013i and 2014a (but not
yet 2014b).

Given that this would bring it in line with the tzdata upload in p-u, if
the upload could be made this evening then I'd be prepared to accept it
for 7.5.

Adam

Yeah, I switched to the IRC terminal right after sending the mail :)

I've prepared a new upstream release of libx264, and we need to rebuild
all applications that link against it. AFAIUI, this transition should be
rather smooth because it affects only a few packages.

Thanks
