Bug#753686: squeeze-pu: package mobile-broadband-provider-info/20140317-1~deb6u1

2014-07-04 Thread Raphael Geissert
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
Tags: squeeze
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org

Hi,

Similar to #750757, but for squeeze. The idea would be to give some
fresh air to the package that hasn't been updated in four years,
before no more updates are made to squeeze.

Will be sending the debdiff later today. Actual packaging difference
to make the backport is a downgrade of debhelper compat level (and the
b-d) from 9 to 8.

TIA and apologies for sending the mail until now.

Cheers,

Bug#753694: wheezy-pu: package libflickr-api-perl/1.01-3+deb7u1

2014-07-04 Thread gregor herrmann
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
Tags: wheezy

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

I've prepared an update for libflickr-api-perl for the upcoming point
release, as a fix for RC bug #753522:

Changelog:

#v+
  * Update Flickr API URLs in lib/Flickr/API.pm.

Flickr changed their API URLs from http://www.flickr.com to
https://api.flickr.com.

Backport this change in lib/Flickr/API.pm and test.pl from upstream
releases 1.05 (www - api) and 1.09 (http - https).

Thanks to Lars Hansen and Paul L for the respective bug reports.
(Closes: #753522) (LP: #1317464)
#v-

The changes are in a quilt patch which only changes the URLs in the
module and the test.

Full debdiff (well, git diff) attached.

Cheers,
gregor

It appears that this issue also applies to the quassel package in
unstable, and has not been fixed there. What's the plan for getting that
resolved? (I'm also curious as to whether this would have been better
suited to a security upload, fwiw.)

For future reference, where the issue affects both stable and unstable,
it's expected that the fix will be applied to unstable before looking at
an upload to stable (the security team may be happy to accept fixes in
advance of sid being fixed, but they can also release regression fixes
much more quickly).

That's fine, but bear in mind that asap still needs to be in a

Please don't release this to wheezy-updates yet. There is a just disclosed
ABI break that at a minimum breaks havp. I'd like to see how this gets
addressed upstream before this goes anywhere.

To keep the bug up-to-date with IRC discussions, I've just flagged

Bug#753781: transition: xserver 1.16

2014-07-04 Thread Emilio Pozuelo Monfort
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: transition
Control: forwarded -1
https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/xserver1.16.html

We'd like to ship Jessie with xserver 1.16. It is already available in
experimental and built everywhere, and a few of us are already running
it without any major issues.

I have done a rebuild of all the drivers (input and video) and only
xf86-video-glamo failed to build; all the others build fine against
the new xserver. There are no conflicts for the transition, so we
could start this right away, though since 1.16 final isn't out yet, it
may be wise to wait for that.

The problem is a missmatch between the jmp_buf size in perl vs. modules.
Aka the build against glibc 2.19 changed the public ABI of perl.

Yes, jmp_buf had to be increased to support new CPUs. This has been done
using symbol versioning, but unfortunately it doesn't work when jmp_buf
is embedded in a struct like in perl.

Upstream consider this as a non-issue and recommend to do the upgrade of
all the perl packages in a lockstep.

I see. A bit of googling turns up the related
  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1064271

I note that Carlos O'Donell says there

I expect Ruby is going to fail also since it embeds jmp_buf similarly.

Has anybody noticed similar issues with Ruby?

So far I haven't, but as symbol versioning is used, until we start
mixing versions, the problem won't appear.

How do we want to fix this so upgrades won't barf in the users face?

The problem only concerns the jessie to jessie partial upgrades,
dist-upgrades should be fine. wheezy to jessie upgrades are also fine,
due to the perl 5.14 to 5.18 transition. If we want to fix that for
jessie to jessie, one way is to start the perl 5.20 transition.

So all libc6 reverse dependencies have been binNMU'd on s390x for this
in early June? It looks like some have a confusing changelog entry. I
checked libterm-readline-gnu-perl and libreadonly-xs-perl, which state
 Rebuild against perl 5.18.

I could make a sourceful perl upload incrementing perlapi-5.18.2 to
for instance perlapi-5.18.2d (and removing perlapi-5.18.1) on s390x
only. This would make ~500 reverse dependencies of perlapi-5.18.*
uninstallable and require a new binNMU round for them. As libperl5.18
 has a tight dependency on perl-base, I don't think we'd need to
do anything on the libperl side.

I think this would work fine. From the buildds point of view, the 500
binNMUs should not pose any problem, we have enough build power there.

I think this would be the right way fix this, but I suppose it would
affect ongoing transitions and the like. I'm cc'ing the release team
 for advice.

I have come up with:

https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/perlapi-5.18.2d-s390x.html

Although I would prefer to wait a bit and do 5.20 directly, I'm not affected by
this breakage as I don't have any s390x machines. So if you think this is
important enough, we could go ahead and do it now. The only conflict I see right
now is gdal with the poppler transition, but that one should be finished in two
or three days if everything goes well.

Emilio

It'll still take at least a few weeks before we can do a clean perl 5.20
 transition. See #753529.

Bug#752921: transition: qtbase-opensource-src

2014-07-04 Thread Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer
I have just pushed qtbase-opensource-src 5.3.1+dfsg-3 which should fix the
FTBFS in gammaray and fcitx-qt5 due to a improper check in the cmake files.

Please schedule a binNMU with a waitdep on it (or I can ping you whenever
qtbase gets built everywhere too).

Thanks a lot, Lisandro.
