Bug#758597: unblock: win32-loader/0.7.5

2014-08-19 Thread Didier Raboud
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org

win32-loader is only blocked because the migration needs manual work from the
FTP Masters. win32-loader has seen some translation updates and other small
code updates but nothing too weird for a pre-freeze period:

DirectFB apparently needed those at some point. Let's see whether
letting the kernel do its job just works. (See: #395040)

As usual:
a) -release unblocks:
unblock win32-loader/0.7.5
b) Ftpmasters do their magic with the files in tools/win32-loader to reflect
   the unstable-testing copy

Thanks in advance, cheers,

Bug#758616: dpkg: support installing M-A:same packages with different binNMU version

2014-08-19 Thread Emilio Pozuelo Monfort
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.17.11
Severity: wishlist

(X-d-cc debian-release@)

Hi,

Currently M-A:same packages with different versions can't be co-installed.
That prevents packages that have been binNMUed in one architecture but not
another to be co-installed, e.g.

libfoo_1.1-1:i386
libfoo_1.1-1+b1:amd64

or

libfoo_1.1-1+b1:i386
libfoo_1.1-1+b2:amd64

Can't be co-installed.

This is problematic because packages get binNMU on a subset of architectures
very often (whenever it's not needed to binNMU them everywhere).

See e.g. #758527.

Emilio

FYI: torbrowser-launcher might require updates during point releases

2014-08-19 Thread Holger Levsen
Dear SRMs,

  * TLS/x.509 security: torbrowser-launcher doesn't rely on the CA

check.torproject.org and (if you haven't set a mirror)
www.torproject.org. When it connects to these hostnames, it uses a
hardcoded certificate. So none of the TLS PKI issues apply at
  all here.

I like the idea of using the Debian archive as a side-channel,
presumably already somewhat trusted, to distribute the included
 certificate.

@Debian maintainers: it might be nice to make the stable release team
aware that this package will most likely need to be updated in stable
 point-releases, when the certificate changes.

I'm not sure how likely this is, but as intrigeri suggested it's probably a
good idea to notify you now that this might happen. I assume this is not a
reason to not include torbrowser-launcher in a stable release, but it's up to
you to decide. :-)

cheers,
Holger

Hi,

Data point: the certificate that's currently in use, and hard-coded,
is valid for ~2.5 years. It expires in May, 2016. So, it seems that
we'll need at least one stable update during the lifetime of Jessie.
