Yes I was planning to do as well the jessie one, but since the window
for uploads via the stretch point release is closing very soon I
started by providing the debdiff for stretch.

There's already a +b1 on a couple of architectures in stretch, so
scheduled as:

nmu 2 intercal . ANY . stretch . -m "Recompile with PIE (Closes: #879789)"

While binNMU uploads don't close bugs, having the information in the
changelog is still potentially helpful for users.

That version number makes no sense - the first upload to stretch is
always deb9u1. There are no NMU-style versions for stable updates, but
even if there were deb9u0.1 would have been an old-style NMU of a new
upstream version, which is not the case here.

With the version number fixed, please feel free to go ahead with the
upload.

According to the above Security Tracker entry, this issue has not yet
been fixed in unstable. Assuming that's correct, I'm afraid that's a
blocker for looking at an update in stable.

Hi Stable release managers,

X-Debbugs-CC to Sandro, Moritz and Markus.

I like to propose the following little change for the upcoming point
release to include for reportbug. The secure testing security team
does not exists for a long time by now, and when alioth will be
decomissioned the secure-testing-team list will disapear. Cf. #32.

It would thus be good if reportbug stops Cc'ing the secure-testing
team.

Markus is Cc'ed as well because he worked on an update for #878088,
which though is not included here. If he has time to propse that part
as well and accepted by you, it would be great to have it included as
well.

Bug#891900: stretch-pu: package dbus/1.10.26-0+deb9u1

2018-03-02 Thread Simon McVittie
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
Tags: stretch
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: pu

I would like to update dbus in stable to fix a regression that was
introduced during the stretch freeze. dbus 1.10.18-1 fixed the audit log
for SELinux AVC notifications (#857660) but in doing so, it reordered
dbus-daemon startup so that code intended to raise the system bus
file descriptor limit to the maximum was never run as root, making it
ineffective, with the result that resource exhaustion is more likely.

The attached debdiff has been filtered to exclude Autotools-generated
files, and is mostly test coverage. bus/bus.c is the functional change.

May I upload?

Thanks,

Good!

xmltooling / Shibboleth / xml-security-c don't seem ready yet. Apparently there
are patches upstream but there have been no new releases and they are not easy
to backport. I suppose at some point we'll need to stop blocking on them. They
can be fixed later and re-enter testing when that happens, there's still plenty
of time before the freeze.

Also zurl seems to need Qt with openssl 1.1, which is only in experimental atm.
That shouldn't be a blocker for this though (we can temporarily kick it from
testing if necessary). But let's wait a bit and see.

It doesn't. There are false positives due to e.g. libcurl3-gnutls and
libcurl4-gnutls-dev matching is_good / is_bad respectively. I'll see if I can
come up with a better regexp later today.

Cheers,

Go ahead.
