I have just realized it as well.

I will have a look. I guess that the package must be written from scratch.

Hi Jerome,

it seems that we somehow have to make the libgap-sage package work with gap
4.9. Until we have figured that out, sagemath will be broken.

Best,
Tobias

This is done so I have uploaded GAP 4.9.3 to unstable.
I will update the GAP packages I maintain in the next few days.

Can we jump to GAP 4.10 before the next freeze ?

Re: GAP 4.9 transition

2018-10-29 Thread Tobias Hansen
I see, sage is updating to gap 4.10 and starting to use the libgap provided by
gap itself. I had noticed this before, but not that gap 4.9 already seems to
provide libgap.

The changelog entry for the gap 4.9 package does not mention anything about
this. Could libgap be provided by the gap package Bill?

Best,
Tobias

Hi,

thanks for doing the transition carefully and first uploading to experimental.
The new gap version will require changes to sagemath, but before I can test
that I need an updated libgap-sage package.

Best,
Tobias

GAP 4.9 transition

2018-10-19 Thread Bill Allombert
Dear Debian science,

I have uploaded GAP 4.9.3 to experimental. This release needs new
packages for the small/trans/prim groups library, which are in the
NEW queue.

If you maintain packages that depends or build-depends on GAP, please
check whether they still builds/works with GAP 4.9 and tell me about any
issues.

I will update my own GAP packages.

Cheers,
