Thanks! I was mostly making sure for next time; it is a good habit

Oh, this has nothing to do with any policy, more that it this time I got
confused.

Thank you for sharing these, but please could you add such things to
your debian/copyright instead of here? The ftpmaster mailbox is a poor
place for them to be recorded as they are not only entire hidden
from the rest of the Project, they cannot be seen by our downstream
distributions nor anyone doing an entirely separate audit. :)

Hi,

Whilst working on the Reproducible Builds effort [0], we noticed
that tkgate could not be built reproducibly.

This is because it includes the output of `pwd` in the resulting

a privacy leak of the builder).

This is cleaner than removing the TKGATE_SECONDARYHOME mechanism
as the patch for _that_ would be:

Dear Maintainer,

opencv lists "samples/data/lena.jpg" in the Files-Excluded field
in debian/copyright but the source tree contains samples/data/lena_tmpl.jpg.

This might be a DFSG violation, the referenced files are probably not
attributed in debian/copyright or the upstream tarball was simply not
repacked as intended. Alternatively, the field is simply out of date.

Hi,

Whilst working on the Reproducible Builds effort [0], we noticed
that pysph could not be built reproducibly.

This is because it generates a Python .egg in a directory that is
named with the current kernel version. On the Debian i386 architecture
this can either be i686 or x86_64 when running the 64-bit kernel.

Patch attached that uses --single-version-externally-managed instead,
preventing the generation of the egg in the first place.

Ah, interesting. :)

So, I would add an override for the "source-includes-file-in-files-excluded"

Bug#861767: libgetdata: Incomplete debian/copyright?

Hi,

I just ACCEPTed libgetdata from NEW but noticed it was missing
attribution in debian/copyright for at least m4/ax_compare_version.m4.

(This is not exhaustive so please check over the entire package
carefully and address these on your next upload.)

Bug#860278: openigtlink: please make the build reproducible

2017-04-13 Thread Chris Lamb
Source: openigtlink
Version: 1.11.0-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
User: reproducible-bui...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: buildpath
X-Debbugs-Cc: reproducible-b...@lists.alioth.debian.org

Hi,

Whilst working on the Reproducible Builds effort [0], we noticed
that openigtlink could not be built reproducibly.

This is due to it including the build path in the resulting binary.
As the OpenIGTLink_SOURCE_DIR variable is kinda useless anyway
(see the surrounding comment), we can just patch it out AFAICT.

Patch attached.

cvxopt_1.1.8+dfsg-1_amd64.changes REJECTED

2017-03-10 Thread Chris Lamb

Hi,

Sorry but I'm going to have to reject your package. Please update
debian/copyright explaining the copyright (etc.) stuff that is mentioned in
(for example) doc/source/copyright.rst:

 34 * **AMD** Version 2.4.1. Copyright (c) 2009-2014 by Timothy A. Davis,_
35 Patrick R. Amestoy, and Iain S. Duff.__
 36
 37 * **CHOLMOD** Version 3.0.6. Copyright (c) 2005-2015 by the
38 University of Florida, Timothy A. Davis, and W. Hager.
 39
 40 * **COLAMD** Version 2.9.1. Copyright (c) 1998-2014 by Timothy A. Davis.
 41
 42 * **UMFPACK** Version 5.7.1. Copyright (c) 1995-2014 by Timothy A. Davis.

Even if these are "harmless", I feel like it needs clarification in
debian/copyright for our users an downstream distributions (rather than in a
private conversation here).

makes me worry about the rest of the package. For example:

sage/src/sage/symbolic/random_tests.py
sage/src/sage/typeset/character_art.py

Not sure why you were trying this specifically; I don't do anything special
by default — or I would mention it! — and build under en_GB.UTF-8 etc. (See
the top of the full build log).

If it "helps", I can still reproduce this on the today's sid.

Bug#834653: nlopt: typo in debian/rules (override_dh_auto_reconf -> override_dh_autoreconf)

2016-08-17 Thread Chris Lamb
Source: nlopt
Version: 2.4.2+dfsg-2
Severity: minor
Tags: patch

Hi,

I believe there is a typo in your debian/rules (override_dh_auto_reconf ->
override_dh_autoreconf).

I don't believe this affects the working of the package, but if anyone
in the future added the "dh $@ --with=autoreconf" magic, then it would
_not_ be able to see your override. Therefore, I suggest you normalise
the name.

Patch attached.

Bug#828017: frog: please make the build reproducible

2016-06-23 Thread Chris Lamb
Source: frog
Version: 0.12.20-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
User: reproducible-bui...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: randomness
X-Debbugs-Cc: reproducible-bui...@lists.alioth.debian.org

Hi,

Whilst working on the "reproducible builds" effort [0], we noticed that frog
could not be built reproducibly due to it including .pyo and .pyc files via
upstream's ./py-compile.

Patch attached.
