Bug#793998: apophenia: FTBFS: tests fail on certain architectures

Hi, unfortunately this bug reappared in version 1.0+ds-1 where the
Debian patches have been included upstream, but a particular upstream
commit made a regression on many architectures.

reverting this commit [1] seems to work, but I'm sure about the
implications.
