I fixed our other issue in git and now I'm seeing these sphinxdoc errors:

[..]
make[1]: Entering directory '/home/infinity0/var/lib/sage/sagemath'
dh_sphinxdoc -XMathJax.js -Xtranslations.js -Xsearchtools.js

debian/rules:199: recipe for target 'override_dh_sphinxdoc' failed
make[1]: *** [override_dh_sphinxdoc] Error 2

Dmitry, if we need to further patch Sphinx or Sage, I'd be happy to do that.
But what exactly is needed? I'm not sure if I totally understood the ticket you
linked:

https://github.com/sphinx-doc/sphinx/pull/2454

Do we just need to put the equivalent of this:

https://github.com/mitya57/matplotlib/commit/53e6bc46d2f010f9a80e0c73dceb6166705f608f

into Sage's layout templates?

It looks like the .txt suffixes are there, but the problem rather is that we
have multiple files with the same name installed into different nested
directories:

$ find debian/tmp/usr/share/doc/ -name lie_algebras.rst*
debian/tmp/usr/share/doc/sagemath/html/en/reference/algebras/_sources/lie_algebras.rst.txt
debian/tmp/usr/share/doc/sagemath/html/en/reference/categories/_sources/sage/categories/lie_algebras.rst.txt
debian/tmp/usr/share/doc/sagemath/html/en/reference/categories/_sources/sage/categories/examples/lie_algebras.rst.txt

The file contents are all different:

$ cat
debian/tmp/usr/share/doc/sagemath/html/en/reference/algebras/_sources/lie_algebras.rst.txt

So I guess your second option won't work but perhaps the first option might
work, we just need to fiddle with the paths?

Could you also explain why exactly dh_sphinxdoc checks for these - what
functionality is broken because these paths don't exist? I don't see that
anyone noticed anything on the Sage upstream ticket
https://trac.sagemath.org/ticket/22252 which is already merged, but then again
I know that not everybody reads the documentation and checks it for flaws...

OTOH Sage uses a very custom sphinx build so it's possible that dh_sphinxdoc
itself is not doing the right thing for Sage's docs - I remember filing a patch
for dh_sphinxdoc for another thing that it was searching for, which for Sage
was at a different location than usual. (see #841141)

I am about to upload a new version that drastically reduces the number
of manpage files to about 2250: this includes the ~250 files that you
mentioned, plus about 2000 symlinks. Note that those symlinks serve a
purpose: they correspond to the functions in the API of lapack, so that
one can do "man funcname" on all of them (several functions are
documented by the same manpage, hence the need for symlinks).

I think this is a reasonable compromise, and I hope this is ok with you
(but feel free to tell me if this is not).

Cheers,

2017-07-04 Thread Michael Stapelberg
Thanks for the heads-up. A reduction to 2250 is a great improvement indeed!
Once this is uploaded and processed, I can update the bug (mostly for
completeness) with new disk usage numbers from manpages.d.o.

Package: liblapack-doc-man
Version: 3.7.0-1
Severity: normal

liblapack-doc-man installs 10770 files into /usr/share/man/man3, all of which
seem to be generated by Doxygen if I understand correctly.

Of these 10770 files, 5902 are symlinks and 4868 are regular files.
Of the 4868 regular files:
• 2057 files consist of 19 lines (documenting a function)
• 2550 files consist of 25 lines (documenting a file)

Notably, these files do not contain anything but the function prototype.

261 files with actual content worth looking at remain.

The large number of files without substantial content is unfortunate for a few
different reasons:

• On manpages.debian.org, liblapack-doc-man consumes 1GB of disk space per
Debian version. The next biggest consumer is linux-manual-4.8 with 51 MB.

• liblapack-doc-man consumes about 1 inodes on user’s root file systems for
no good reason. Even when plenty of inodes are available, remember that many
backup programs do not scale well when presented with a large number of tiny
  files.

• I haven’t verified it, but I assume that the man database and similar tools
will degrade in performance when presented with such a large corpus of
  manpages.

Could you change the package so that it only contains the 261 files with actual
content please? Thank you!

Ok, great. Note that the manpages are going to move into liblapack-doc
(formerly they were in liblapack-doc-man, I am merging the two packages
now that both of them are going to be smaller).

No, the problem is not in the templates, the problem is with installation
layout.

dh_sphinxdoc (and searchtools.js) expect to to find the source files with the
following scheme: .../_sources/ + original filename (i.e. lie_algebras.rst) +
sourcelink_suffix if it is different from the original extension (i.e. .txt).

Here it fails to find these files. Most probably they are installed without
the sourcelink_suffix, i.e. .../_sources/lie_algebras.rst instead of
.../_sources/lie_algebras.rst.txt.

It looks like it installs using custom code in docbuild/ext/multidocs.py, not
by enabling the standard Sphinx’ html_copy_source configuration option.

Unfortunately I cannot test sagemath build locally because it exceeds my RAM,
but I can suggest two ways to potentially fix it:

* Add sourcelink_suffix support to multidocs.py (the “# Setup source symbolic
links” block). It can be obtained from app.config.html_sourcelink_suffix.

* Or set html_sourcelink_suffix to '.rst' in conf.py. This way it should be
the same as original extensions, so dh_sphinxdoc will not try to append it.

bibutils_6.0-1_amd64.changes is NEW

2017-07-04 Thread Debian FTP Masters
binary:libbibutils6 is NEW.
binary:libbibutils6 is NEW.

Your package has been put into the NEW queue, which requires manual action
from the ftpteam to process. The upload was otherwise valid (it had a good
OpenPGP signature and file hashes are valid), so please be patient.

Packages are routinely processed through to the archive, and do feel
free to browse the NEW queue[1].

If there is an issue with the upload, you will receive an email from a
member of the ftpteam.

If you have any questions, you may reply to this email.
