It was just this program, specifically the configure program in the
ddd subdirectory:

configure:1469: checking whether the C++ compiler (c++  ) works
configure:1483: c++ -o conftestconftest.C  15
/usr/lib/libstdc++.so: undefined reference to
`__find_first_exception_table_match'
/usr/lib/libstdc++.so: undefined reference to `__register_exceptions'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
configure: failed program was:
#line 1479 configure
#include confdefs.h
main(){return(0);}

  Juan, don't forget to provide this file in your next libc package.

   But it's already provided by the `base-files' package!:

 $ ls -l /etc/nsswitch.conf

 $ dpkg -S /etc/nsswitch.conf

 $ dpkg -l base-files

 |/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err:
 uppercase=bad)
 ||/ NameVersionDescription
 +++-===-==-
 ii base-files 1.3.5 Debian Base System Miscellaneous Files

   So, if you don't have it on your system, you should upgrade
 your `base-files' package.

That's right :-((
Is it ok to libc6 to depend of base-files (= 1.3.5) ? If so, can you add it?

Should this be in libc, or in some networking package?

Also, what exactly does the file do? I'm familiar with other U*NX OSes
that have similar files (HP/UX does, for one), but the syntax is
completely different. A man page would be nice...

Does Debian-sparc have problems with C++ in general, or is it this specific
package? If it is this specific package, please provide me with the files
generated by configure; one of them (configure.log?) contains the full
details of the test and resulting errors.

Given that groff built (with libg++272 and libc6 stuff) I'd suspect
that particular test...
