Bug#151109: ITP: apt-cacher -- Caching proxy system for Debian software packages
On Thu, Jun 27, 2002 at 09:25:53AM +1000, Jonathan Oxer wrote: Package: wnpp Version: N/A; reported 2002-06-27 Severity: wishlist * Package name: apt-cacher Version : 0.5 Upstream Author : Nick Andrew [EMAIL PROTECTED], Jonathan Oxer [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://www.apt-cacher.org/ * License : GPL Description : Caching proxy system for Debian software packages Apt-cacher provides local caching of .deb packages for installation on multiple machines. One machine running apt-cacher acts as a proxy for all other Debian machines on the network, which use Apt as normal to perform installation but send all package requests to the proxy. Apt-cacher runs as a CGI under Apache, which makes it simpler than other package caching systems which are more self-contained. Can you summarise the advantages this system has over simply using a conventional web proxy like squid, with appropriate settings? I have used this successfully in the past to minimise download time over a slow link... Jules -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#151147: ITP: phpgroupware-packages -- The phpGroupWare packaging utilities.
Package: wnpp Version: N/A; reported 2002-06-27 Severity: wishlist * Package name: phpgroupware-packages Version : 0.1 Upstream Author : Luca - De Whiskey's - De Vitis [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : Not yet available. * License : GPL Description : The phpGroupWare packaging utilities. This package provides some facilities to checkout the phpGroupWare source from the cvs repository and build as many packages formats as possible. Formats includes: - tar.gz: Gzip compressed tar archive. - tar.bz2:Bzip2 compressed tar archive. - deb:Dpkg package format (i.e. Debian). - rpm:[1] RPM package format (i.e. RedHat). - slp:[1] SLP package format (i.e. Stampede). - tgz:[1] TGZ package format (i.e. Slackware). Other packages formats available: - core: Not really a format: build core-$(VERSION).tar.gz and core-$(VERSION).tar.bz2 - orig.tar.gz:Gzip Compressed archive used to build official Debian packages. - pkg:[1] Solaris package format. Cannot build this one since we miss Solaris specific tools (pkginfo, pkgtrans). I've included it anyway: just incase... [1] Package is of an alien type. This means there is no one who care the building of this package format. To build it I use the alien(1) command. I need to inject the deian directory inside each module first. Bug#146636: I would like to volunteer to maintain this package
I am not currently a Debian maintainer, but I would like to get involved in doing this. I think this would be a good package for me to maintain because I run KDE with Mozilla and Konqueror on PowerPC. Macromedia's free (beer) plugin needs x86 Linux, and as such it is useless to me. So, I use this Free (speech) plugin for all my Flash viewing needs in my browsers. Because I run KDE, I could also maintain the KDE screensaver portion of the package. Let me know what you think. :) Wes Morgan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#151192: ITP: xmms-kjofol -- XMMS remote that uses K-Jofol's skins
Package: wnpp Version: N/A; reported 2002-06-27 Severity: wishlist * Package name: xmms-kjofol Version : 0.95 Upstream Author : Tim Ferguson [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~timf/xmms/ * License : GPL Description : XMMS remote that uses K-Jofol's skins This is a plugin for xmms which allows you to use skins designed for the Kjofol mp3 player. These skins differe from standard xmms skins in that they need not be the usual rectangular shape. Also, the buttons don't need to be in the same places that they are with xmms, or with other xmms skins. There are some very cool skins coming out for K-Jofol. They look heaps better than the Winamp ones. This can be compiled as a stand alone program which functions as a remote control.
