Bug#320775: ITP: libtest-tap-model -- Accessible (queryable, serializable object) result collector for Test::Harness::Straps runs

2005-08-03 Thread Peter Samuelson

[Florian Ragwitz]
 * Package name : libtest-tap-model
 * URL  : http://search.cpan.org/~nuffin/Test-TAP-Model/

I think it's best to follow Perl Policy 4.2 Module Package Names.
That is, libtest-tap-model-perl. Same for libtest-tap-htmlmatrix-perl.

This package supports using the db mechanism for Name Service Switch.
Glibc 2.1.92 and before included this module, but it has been since been
split and is now a separate package. If you use .db files for your
passwd, shadow, group or other naming databases, then you need this module.

Bug#321067: RFP: nptltracetool -- trace NPTL library calls unintrusively

Upstream Author : Tony Reix, Sebastien Decugis, Nadege Griesser,
  Laetitia Kameni-Djinou, Matthieu Castet
URL : http://nptltracetool.sourceforge.net/

Description : trace NPTL library calls unintrusively

Their web page says:

Our project is a stabilization effort on the GNU libc thread
library NPTL (Native POSIX Thread Library). We provide a
library-level trace tool for the NPTL. This tool aims to help
users to analyze and understand correction and performance
problems. It shows when a program calls NPTL routines and when
it exits from them, with details about the internal mechanisms
of the library. The trace can be analyzed once the problem has
appeared and the application has stopped. It is a post mortem
analysis.

Should recommend/suggest paje.app.

Bug#280656: status?

2005-08-03 Thread Mario Lang
Hi.

What is the status of this ITP? CommonMusic now supports PortMIDI IO,
which makes usage of ALSA seq clients possible directly from CM. The
hack includes a patched portmidi which provides .so lib versions for portmidi.

Therefore, I am interested if portmidi will make it into Debian since I might
like to package CM if no one else does first.

Bug#276096: Eclipse Debian package status

I am attempting to contact anyone who has previously expressed an
interest in packaging a new Eclipse release for Debian. I grabbed
everyone from the ITA, as well as the Alioth project, and the Java list
  for good measure. :-)

I have CCed Michael Koch. He is working on 3.1 packages. Which are
 described and available from http://gnu.wildebeest.org/diary-man-di/

Unfortunately he removed the Eclipse packages from his site, and has not
yet responded to these email inquiries.

Does anyone have a copy of the 3.1 packages that he released?

I built debs on sid using Jerry's source package. Can't remember the
details, but very little effort was needed to get it going. I think I
needed the Ubuntu java-common, but that's about all.

Alternatively, the Ubuntu debs should work for you.

* Package name: msort
  Version : 8.4
Upstream Author : William J. Poser [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~wjposer/msort.html
* License : GPL
Description : utility for sorting records in complex ways

msort is a program for sorting files in sophisticated ways. It was originally
developed for alphabetizing dictionaries of exotic languages, for which it
has been extensively used, but is useful for many other purposes. msort differs
from typical sort utilities in providing greater flexibility in parsing the
input into records and identifying key fields and greater control over the
sort order. Its main distinctive features are:

* Msort can be used as a command-line program or via a graphical user interface
that is helpful not only to those who find a complicated command line
difficult to deal with but also to those unfamiliar with the finer points
  of sorting.
* Records need not be single lines of text but may be delimited in a number
  of ways.
* Key fields may be selected either by position in the record (counting
from the beginning or the end) or by matching a regular expression to a tag.
* For each key an arbitrary sort order may be specified.
* For each key an effectively unlimited number of multigraphs (sequences
of characters to be treated as a single unit for purposes of sorting) of
effectively unlimited length may be defined.
* In addition to the usual lexicographic and numerical orderings, msort
supports sorting by date, time, and string length.
* For each key a distinct set of characters may be excluded from consideration
when sorting in any combination of initial, final, and medial position
  in the key field.
* Lexicographic keys may be reversed, allowing the construction of reverse
  dictionaries.
* Any or all keys may be optional. For optional keys, the user may specify
how records missing the key field should compare to records in which the
  key field is present.

msort understands UTF-8 Unicode. Unicode may be used anywhere that text is
entered: in the text to be sorted, in sort order and exclusion definitions,
as a field or record separator, or as a field tag.

sim4 is a similarity-based tool for aligning an expressed DNA sequence

Bug#321178: [Fwd: licensing of the x3270 code]

2005-08-03 Thread Lior Kaplan
Hi,

The x3270 package was previously removed from the archive due to
licensing issues (see #248853 for details).

I opened this ITP after the 5250 code was removed from the upstream
package. Also, I'm waiting for a clarification about one of the
licenses, before uploading.

Bug#321213: RFP: Xbae Matrix Widget

2005-08-03 Thread Joop PG4I
Package: WNPP
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-devel@lists.debian.org

Xbae Matrix is a free Motif(r) table widget (also compatible with the
free LessTif) which presents an editable array of string data to the
user in a scrollable table similar to a spreadsheet.

The license has been discussed in the past on debian-legal, see:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2003/03/msg00134.html

I had contacted the upstream maintainer to explain the wording in the
license file, but never got an answer. As suggested on debian-legal
it may be safe to upload this package to main, because the license can
easily be explained as DFSG-free.

I currently don't have the time and skills to package it myself and
would appreciate if someone would step in.

Thanks,
Joop pa3aba at debian dot org
