This is a small mail utility for use with the Blackbox window manager.

suited to somebody who may actually use it.

Zero bugs, last upload 2002-02-12. (No new upstream version since).

bitkeeper recently changed license, so it is no more
packable (also for non-free).

Also I've no more interest on BitKeeper, because kernel
now use 'git' (see cogito package).

Bug#315297: Fedora Directory Server port to Debian ?

 Paul Wise [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

Is somebody working on porting/packaging FDS to Debian?

  http://bugs.debian.org/315297

Bad package description. It tells me something I don't care about (namely
the acronym expansion of LDAP) and none of the things I do care about (why
would I want this package rather than some other directory server).

As far as I can tell, there is no-one packaging it yet, feel free to
contribute, I imagine that it would be good to have this in debian.

Out of curiousity, why? I can't think of any reason to run FDS when we
already have OpenLDAP, having had the experience of dealing with FDS's
 technological predecessor.

Having had experience dealing with OpenLDAP, I'd be happy to have
just /anything/ else.

That being said, there's nothing wrong with having multiple
implementations of the same thing -- on the contrary. We have multiple
implementations of DNS-servers, MTA's, MUA's, database servers,
browsers, user environments, and whatnot. Why not multiple LDAP servers?

Description : XPilot game next generation

I am the maintainer for XPilot, and have been following this fork from the
official
XPilot release for some time. The polygon map format that it implements is a
radical departure from the official version which is why these changes aren't
presently integrated back into the official one. That is to say, the map format
that the xpilot-ng server uses is fundamentally incompatible with official
xpilot
clients. That being said, the xpilot-ng client will work with both new and old
map formats.

My intent is to package the CVS version of xpilot-ng instead of the latest
tarball,
as it is rather out of date. I will periodically rebuild and upload new CVS
versions
until such time as this project has established a regular release cycle of
distribution tarballs.

My packaging of 'xpilot-ng' will be done in such a way that integrates well with
the official 'xpilot' package:
  - sharing data files where appropriate
  - providing alternatives where appropriate
  - supporting multiple instances of the server on the same system without
conflicts
so that a games server can serve users both with official and next
generation
clients

Changes will be made to the official 'xpilot' package to accomodate for
'xpilot-ng'
as needed.

Hm, what else ... umm ... you'll notice that there is a java map editor which
depends on a non-free implementation of java. I won't be including that. Uoti
Urpala has written a map editor in python, so I will include that instead.
There is also a C++ map editor, but that hasn't been worked on for many months.
Hopefully once we get more users for this version, that will help spur along
development of one or both of these editors.

There is already a KJV bible in Debian. Can it be arranged that the data
not be duplicated, in decreasing order of preference:

 - not at all (i.e. symlink the bible text, create offset databases)
 - not in source (i.e. Build-Depend on bible-kjv)
 - not on distribution media (i.e. Depend on bible-kjv, convert at
install time)?

connects to a popular english-german translation page and fetches the
possible translations. For it to be usefull, the name of the program
has to be short, because users are (going to be) typing it a lot.
Initially the name of the binary was trans, but this binary name is
already taken by another programm already contained in Debian. Since
the web resource is called leo we switched to this name for the
program. At this time, I was unaware of your leo.

As far as I see, leo is an editor which typical users probably start
via the menu, and only at the beginning of a working session. Here a
short name for the *binary* is not important, AFAIS (Please convince
me otherwise if I am wrong on this).

Your ITP is going on for several years, and the last note from you is
dated Tue, 25 May 2004 00:24:16 +0200. So I have two questions:
a) Is it possible for your leo to call its binary something different,
   maybe leo-editor?
b) What is the status for the ITP?

The reason I ask is because I already talk to a possible sponsor (he
is reviewing my leo currently) and I know several people who would
like it to be included in Debian and who would all require a short
name. So I like to get my leo included (provided the sponsor agrees,
of course) in a reasonable time frame.

I don't know your leo (yet) and hence I'd be happy to obtain the
answers to the questions I stated above.

Greetings

Helge

P.S. A (brief) statement within the next two weeks would be nice, if
 possible, thanks.

Description: A Client interface to LDAP servers
The perl-ldap distribution is a collection of perl modules which
provide an object orientated interface to LDAP servers.
 .
The perl-ldap distribution has several advantages:
  * By using the perl object interface the perl-ldap modules
provide programmers with an interface which allows complex
searches of LDAP directories with only a small amount of code.
  * All the perl-ldap modules are written entirely in perl, which
means that the library is truly cross-platform compatible.
No C or XS extension are used so no C compiler is needed to
install the modules.

Sarah and the boys are busy packing our possessions into boxes for transport.
Some will go into the hold of the ship and are marked 'Not Wanted on the
Voyage'. Others, which contain clothes, blankets, cups, plates, forks and the
like are marked 'Wanted on the Voyage'.I think you are right. It is a very long
way to Australia and we may never return. Also, I think we will need all the
money we can get to help us make a new life. Our train arrived in Liverpool
today shortly after seven o'clock in the evening. Even at this hour it is as
noisy, dirty and crowded as London, although I was much impressed by the
buildings, docks and ships. We had been told to go straight to the offices of
the line on which we would sail, but instead we wandered the streets, lost and
tired.

Bug#243938: ITP: rkhunter

2005-08-08 Thread Matt Taggart
The ITP for rkhunter has been quiet since Feb 15.

Frederik,
I understand your concern about waiting for upstream to integrate patches you
sent so that the initial version of the package gets to start out with a more
reasonable debian diff. Has upstream taken them yet? I don't think we should
wait forever and if they haven't been accepted then I think you should proceed.

I and others are waiting for this package and it would be good if something
was available in the next few weeks.

The package available in,

  http://people.debian.org/~ema/packages/

is dated Jan 06. Is this the most recent attempt at packaging available?

Thanks,

Bug#321999: ITP: vde -- virtual distributed ethernet

2005-08-08 Thread Guus Sliepen
On Mon, Aug 08, 2005 at 06:47:14PM +0200, Piotr Roszatycki wrote:

VDE is a virtual network that can be spawned over a set of physical computer
 over the Internet

VDE connects together: (1) real GNU-linux boxes (tuntap) (2) virtual machines:
UML-User Mode Linux, qemu, bochs, MPS.

VDE can be used: (i) to create a general purpose tunnel (every protocol that
runs on a Ethernet can be put into the tunnel) (ii) to connect a set of
virtual machine to the Internet with no need of free access of tuntap (iii) to
support mobility: a VDE can stay interconnected despite of the change of
virtual cables, i.e. the change of IP addresses and interface in the real
 world

I don't object to choice in Debian, but I am wondering why VDE has been
created when there are alternatives like OpenVPN, tinc and GVPE, which
can all tunnel Ethernet over the Internet and work like a switch as
well. Tinc can even work with UML sockets (and since GVPE can use some of
tinc's components, it can probably be compiled to do so as well). Both
tinc and GVPE let you specify endpoints, both tools will automatically
create a full mesh of tunnels. The performance of OpenVPN, tinc and GVPE
will probably also be better because they use UDP instead of TCP streams
(like you would get with dpipe = ssh).

Renzo, perhaps it might be worthwile to combine your efforts with one
of these projects? GVPE comes closest to VDE.
