No, there's no roles formaly defined, but we can agree on what to do for each participant. Team management is easy for me, as for what PaulLiu said, because it allows to act quickly, and also I will not have to ask you for each little corrections before the upload.. To begin, you may both register an account on http://alioth.debian.org/ Then we'll open a project and ask for a svn reposotiry, import base files and have fun :) Yeah ! I'll open the project and ask for a svn very soon, so that an upload may happen within days. Romain Beauxis wrote: Le Sunday 18 November 2007 20:41:11, vous avez écrit : I'm able to do any help. Please just tell me what to do, I'll do it. I don't think to package this software is so hard. :) I can confirm since I have already made it. ;) Well, packaging one application is not enough, it also have to be done properly :) Yes, I should have said begin it... I don't mind group maintaining. Since to package this software is not very very hard, so group maintaining is not very urgent. I just want to see this software in Debian repository soon. But group maintaining is somewhat better because when this software has new upstream version, we only need one of the group member to have free time to update it :) However, I'm not a DD so I can't help uploading :( Just ask me to do other job that don't need DD's privilege. Maybe Romain could be in charge of the upload, Ying-Chun and me would patch/package ? Ok, let me speak clearly, and please don't read any agression there, I just want to adress things directly. Yomgui, this ITP has been opened for almost two years now, but no upload has been done so far. As for what I can read, you have it reviewed by Piem, and claimed it was about to be uploaded, but still nothing hapened. Did you submit it for review on -mentors ? Did Piem has any review ? What were his remarks ? Piem is a very good friend of mine and has helped me to upload Jackbeat : http://packages.debian.org/testing/sound/jackbeat I think he just doesn't have so much time to work on ezstream but his review about the program was good. He said also that some things had to be fixed in the package. I've got your package from the links provided, and it seems that it has not been changed since 2005 (I'll come back on details on this later in this mail). Now comes another interested packager, asking you to either finish it or let him do the work, to which you replied last february that it was about to be uploaded, and still nothing. Yes, I would have like to find a DD like you to help to upload. Of course no one wants to steal your efforts, but clearly there must be some explanations there. Of course also, it's possible that you were waiting for another reviewer/uploader, but that seems long since February... Sorry but, althought I'm fond of Debian and its philosophy, I think low level (co-)maintainers should be involved deeper in the structure so they could have several contacts inside and some tutorials to make things better and faster. Don't misunderstand me, I just want to point out that it is difficult to speed up people like me since we don't have much information about possible issues. However, Alioth seems a good plateform to accomplish that sort of task and I'm very pleased to get involved in it ! Now, I came to the same issue. I've experienced a similar pattern when mediawiki was about to be packaged and many claimed they were willing to contribute. Our solution was to open a team. So I was proposing you this in order to please everyone: of course, we won't steal your work, but also we all acknowledge that we want to work on this package with the will that it'll be more quickly ready when working as a team. Let's steal all my work, since it is open sourced and welcome !! ;) Now, some review on the package. First of all, having a package that builds and installs is not enough to say the work is done. As for I've seen from your package, it's mostly the dh_make templates, with non needed files removed. So, I can remark the following: * debian/rules: please remove non needed code that helps making it readable * debian/dirs contains /usr/sbin, is a binary installed there ? * debian/copyright: authors is not only oddsock, I can find files with the FSF.. Furthermore, those files seems to be redundant (getopt.c), you may look wether you can user external libraries for that. You must also include some sort of header for the license and check file by file (it's not a lot in this case) * debian/control: update standard-version (as requested previously) * debian/changelog: multiple * entries Also, you should close the ITP there. Furthermore, the packaging is distributed with a eztream_0.2.0-1.tar.gz, this is wrong, you should seperate upstream's tarball from debian's modifications, with a .orig.tar.gz and a diff.gz. Thoses were the most obvious remarks I could find for now (didn't build it), but they must be addressed before any upload can happen.. Of course ! Thanks a lot for these remarks ! I shall try to fix these problems ASAP... To conclude, I would like to ask you again wether you'd accept to maintain it with a team. YES ! :D Please answer clearly to that question, it's the moment to raise your feelings about this packaging... This package should have been uploaded for a long time, like oddcastv3-jack (http://debian.parisson.org/oddcastv3-jack_3.1.6-1_i386.deb) also written by Oddsock and

Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: golly Version : 1.3 Upstream Author : Tomas Rokicki [EMAIL PROTECTED] Andrew Trevorrow [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://golly.sourceforge.net/ * License : GPL version 2 or later Programming Lang: C++, with Python scripting support Description : Game of Life simulator using hashlife algorithm Golly simulates Conway's Game of Life with an arbitrarily large grid of cells. It can optionally use a hashlife algorithm, which allows it to rapidly compute generations for huge patterns, and to compute many generations into the future at a time. . Golly provides a graphical interface for viewing and editing cellular automata. It supports copy and paste, zoom, auto-fit, multiple layers, and viewing different areas of a pattern simultaneously in different areas of a window. . Golly can load patterns from RLE, Life 1.05/1.06, dblife, and macrocell file formats; it can also interpret images as Life patterns. Golly provides integrated help, including a copy of the Life Lexicon. . Golly also supports other rules for 2D cellular automata with an 8-cell neighborhood, and supports 1D cellular automata. (end of description) Some notes: * Golly has some serious portability issues: in particular, it generates many compiler errors if sizeof(node *) != sizeof(int). Much of this seems to occur in the hash table code when hashing pointer values, so in theory it might not cause a problem if made to go away via appropriate casting. * Golly uses wxWidgets, and supports building for either X11 or GTK+; however, the authors specifically recommend against the X11 version, so I'd suggest only packaging the GTK+ version. * Golly runs extremely fast, and the hashlife algorithm makes many complex patterns easy to simulate. On my system, I could easily simulate a 3x3 grid of Unit Life cells running a blinker, with one Unit Life generation per step, in real-time. I could also take any of the patterns from Golly's database and run it to 1e10 generations with no problems, even those with asymptotically quadratic growth. * The interface beats xlife hands down. - Josh Triplett -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#452034: ITP: libhtml-template-pro-perl -- Perl/XS module to use HTML Templates from CGI scripts
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Vincent Danjean [EMAIL PROTECTED] * Package name: libhtml-template-pro-perl Version : 0.66 Upstream Author : I. Yu. Vlasenko [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/HTML-Template-Pro/ * License : Same as perl (GPL+Artistic) Programming Lang: C and Perl Description : Perl/XS module to use HTML Templates from CGI scripts This module attempts to make using HTML templates simple and natural. It extends standard HTML with a few new HTML-esque tags - TMPL_VAR, TMPL_LOOP, TMPL_INCLUDE, TMPL_IF, TMPL_ELSE and TMPL_UNLESS. The file written with HTML and these new tags is called a template. It is usually saved separate from your script - possibly even created by someone else! Using this module you fill in the values for the variables, loops and branches declared in the template. This allows you to separate design - the HTML - from the data, which you generate in the Perl script. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.23-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#452037: ITP: libcgi-formbuilder-source-yaml-perl -- Initialize CGI::FormBuilder application from YAML file
Package: wnpp * Package name: libcgi-formbuilder-source-yaml-perl Version: 1.0008 Upstream Author: Mark Hedges [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL: http://search.cpan.org/dist/CGI-FormBuilder-Source-Yaml/ * License: GPL or Perl Artistic Description: This Perl module reads a YAML file containing CGI::FormBuilder configuration options and returns a hash that can be directly fed into the application's initialization method CGI::FormBuilder-new(). It uses YAML::Syck as YAML backend, allowing full data structure specification as well as code fragment specification. This is particularly useful if you need to define validation callbacks, as if often desired in CGI::FormBuilder applications. -- Ernesto Hernández-Novich - Linux 2.6.18 i686 - Unix: Live free or die!
