Bug#475335: ITP: libbio-mage-perl -- Container module for classes in the MAGE package: MAGE

2008-04-10 Thread Charles Plessy
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Charles Plessy [EMAIL PROTECTED]

  Package name: libbio-mage-perl
  Version : 20030502.3
  Upstream Author : © 2001-2006 The MicroArray Gene Expression Database Society
(MGED)
  URL : http://mged.sourceforge.net/
  License : MIT/X11
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : Container module for classes in the MAGE package: MAGE

 MAGE-TAB (MicroArray Gene Expression Tabular) format is a standard from the
 Microarray Gene Expression Data Society (MGED). This package contains Perl
 modules in the Bio::MAGE hierarchy to manipulate MIAME-compliant (Minimum
 Information About a Microarray Experiment) records of microarray (DNA chips)
 experiments.
 .
  The Bio::MAGE module contains the following Bio::MAGE classes:
* NameValueType
* Extendable
* Identifiable
* Describable

Although I have Debian tasks of higher priority, I made this package at work
because
I need it for work.

I sent a copy of this email to the Debian Perl team: this package is perl-only
and
and available from SourceForge and CRAN. If you are interested by maintaining
it in
your repository, just hijack it :) I have upladed it to Mentors:

http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/libbio-mage-perl/

 Thanks for your work Charles. I added it to bio-dev task. Was the
 remark above intended a first comers first serves matter so whoever
 it takes over in his repository wins? To be honest I do not really
 care about whic team finally wins as long as the package is inside
 Debian at all. Just tell me if you are in need of an initial sponsor.

Honestly, I would prefer to see this package in the hand of specialists
(hello, Debian Perl :) On the other hand, I do not want to rudely dump
packages in their hands...

I will ask for a Debian-Med sponsor in one week if nobody touched the
package.

Have a nice day,

They are not the same. Note that the update-rc.d man page says System
administrators are not encouraged to use update-rc.d to manage runlevels.
chkconfig on the other hand is intended for system administrators to manage
runlevels.

rcconf is dialog-based, chkconfig is command-line based. Also chkconfig is
well known from Red Hat and SUSE, so it will help users coming from those
environments. chkconfig also works well with the new insserv.

Bug#475369: gnat-4.1: help needed with bug triaging

2008-04-10 Thread Ludovic Brenta
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

gnat-4.1 has 88 bugs opened against it and I need help triaging them. This is a
low-skill task suitable for any contributor with an understanding of the BTS.

- Bugs marked [Fixed in 4.2] or [Fixed in 4.3] should be reassigned to gnat-4.3
and then closed, preferably with the version number 4.3.0-1.

- Most other bugs should be reassigned to gnat-4.3 and left open. There are a
couple exceptions which are specific to gnat-4.1 or that have an equivalent in
gnat-4.3.

- Bugs that are forwarded upstream should be closed if closed upstream.

Thanks for any help.

Bug#475374: RFH: gnat-4.3: help needed to execute test cases

2008-04-10 Thread Ludovic Brenta
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I need help from someone with at least a beginner's knowledge of Ada and GNAT.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to:

- look at all bugs filed against gnat-4.1 and gnat-4.3 that
  * are not forwarded upstream
  * are not marked [Fixed in 4.2] or [Fixed in 4.3]
  * contain a test case

- Compile each test case with gnat-4.3

- If gnat-4.3 resolves the bug, close the bug in the BTS. Otherwise, add a
comment to the bug report stating that the bug is still present in 4.3.

If, in addition, you spend time studying the test cases, you will gain a deep
knowledge of Ada's fine points, not to mention my gratitude.

There are 80+ such test cases. Even if you only process a couple of them, this
is appreciated.

Thanks for any help.

PS. See also Bug#475369 which is related but does not require any knowledge of
Ada.

OK, I didn't know that. If one were interested in not-Debian-compatibility,
which is my primary motivation here, one could perhaps implement chkconfig as
a wrapper around sysv-rc-conf, but chkconfig isn't actually that big to make
this worthwhile.

  2. sysv-rc-conf is mostly unmaintained and broken for some (of my)

This refers to the graphical interface. All the bugs are in the BTS.

 Could you elaborate on that? What's the problem with sysv-rc-conf and
 insserv?

For example, when I disable a service, insserv reorders the dependencies to
make them more optimal. chkconfig also interacts with the LSB init script
headers in intelligent ways, which I don't see in sysv-rc-conf.

Bug#475429: RFA: plib-doc -- Portability Libraries Documentation and Examples

Severity: normal

Due to lack of time and interest I would like to offer plib-doc for

Recently, there was a new upstream release which I packaged

Therefore, plib-doc now has a FTBFS bug against it.

gęba opadła jak zobaczyłem konto! A moje konto wciąż rosło i dalej

W dodatku, jeśli jesteś nieśmiały(a)

OK. to
zaczynamy, bo się rozgadałem. Ten program działa i nieważne z jakiego
itp. Wszystko czego potrzebujesz to:

- Konto w banku (najlepiej z możliwością obsługi przez Internet, ale nie
koniecznie),

- Około 20-30 minut twojego czasu jednorazowo!

Jeżeli masz chociaż 13 lat, to możesz założyć swoje własne konto w
banku. Nie wierzysz? Proponuję ci mBank. Wejdź na WWW.mbank.pl i znajdź
ofertę izzyKonto. Zobaczysz, że mając zaledwie 13lat możesz mieć już
własne prawdziwe konto w banku.

KROK 1

Proszę, dodaj mnie do swojej listy mailowej.

CHCĘ, ŻEBYS WIEDZIAŁ (A), ŻE JEST TO PO TO, ABY UTRZYMAĆ TEN PROGRAM
LEGALNYM!

To naprawdę proste!

Oto obecna lista:

1. Nr konta: 13 1470 0002 2305 2216 4388 0001

2. Nr konta: 46 1140 2004  3102 4659 7930

3. Nr konta: 05 1140 2004  3902 4611 2112

4.Nr konta: 97 1020 3352  1102 0081 0762

5. Nr konta: 18 1140 2004  3802 5186 7907

KROK 2
z Tą dodatkową notką - TO BARDZO WAŻNE!), następną rzeczą, którą musisz

 your package includes a copy of the prototype java script library.
 Please replace it with a symlink to prototype.js from the
 libjs-prototype package and add a depends to the latter.

Thanks for the notice, this is welcome!

This doesn't seem to be quite so easy, though. The bundled files actually
seem to come from scriptaculous 1.6.1, which bundles prototype.js
from prototype 1.5.0_rc0, so they are all significantly older than their
Debian counterparts.

Furthermore, these files are in turn bundled by the cropper library

It is also available as a deb from sourceforge

Bug#475477: ITP: liblucene-queryparser-perl -- Turn a Lucene query into a Perl data structure

2008-04-10 Thread Dominic Hargreaves
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Dominic Hargreaves [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: liblucene-queryparser-perl
  Version : 1.04
  Upstream Author : Simon Cozens
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Lucene-QueryParser/
* License : Dual GPL/Artistic
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : Turn a Lucene query into a Perl data structure

This module parses a Lucene query, as defined by
http://lucene.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/faq/faqmanager.cgi?file=chapter.searchtoc=faq#q5

It deals with fields, types, phrases, subqueries, and so on; everything
handled by the SimpleQuery class in Lucene. The data structure is
similar to the one given above, and is pretty self-explanatory.

The other function, deparse_query turns such a data structure back into
a Lucene query string. This is useful if you've just been mucking about
with the data.

Bug#475493: ITP: python-pefile -- Portable Executable (PE) parsing module for Python

2008-04-10 Thread Robert Edmonds
Package: wnpp
Owner: Robert S. Edmonds [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: python-pefile
  Version : 1.2.9.1
  Upstream Author : Ero Carrera [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/pefile/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Portable Executable (PE) parsing module for Python

 pefile is a Python module to read and work with Portable Executable (PE)
 files. Most of the information in the PE header is accessible, as well as all
 the sections, section information and data.
 .
 All the basic PE file structures are available with their default names as
 attributes of the returned instance.
 .
 Processed elements such as the import table are made available with lowercase
 names, to differentiate them from the upper case basic structure names.
 .
 pefile has been tested against the limits of valid PE headers; that is,
 Windows malware. Lots of packed malware attempt to abuse the format beyond its
 standard use.
 .
 Some of the tasks that pefile makes possible are:
  * Modifying and writing back to the PE image
  * Header inspection
  * Section analysis
  * Retrieving data
  * Warnings for suspicious and malformed values
  * Packer detection with PEiD signatures
  * PEiD signature generation
