We already have a package for schroedinger, another free Dirac

It'd still be great to have a package of Dirac too, IIRC Ubuntu already
has one and I'd be interested in sponsoring/co-maintainership if someone
wants to maintain it in Debian.

* URL : http://ocaml-text.forge.ocamlcore.org/
* License : BSD-C3
  Programming Lang: C, OCaml
  Description : library for dealing with sequences of Unicode characters

 OCaml-Text is an OCaml library for dealing with text, i.e. sequences
 of Unicode characters, in a convenient way. It supports:
  * easy encoding/decoding of text;
  * a lot of functions for manipulation of UTF-8 encoded strings;
  * locale-specific text functions (compare, upper, is_alpha, ...).
 .
 It is composed of only two modules:
  * Encoding for encoding/decoding text
  * Text for text manipulation
 .
 OCaml-Text is designed to be easy to use and interacts well with other
 projects.

This library is a new dependency of lwt and I intend to maintain it as
part of Debian OCaml Maintainers.

Bug#519993: RFS: wbar (4th try)

2009-05-09 Thread Krzysztof Burghardt
2009/4/18 Sandro Tosi mo...@debian.org:
 - no need for 'a ' in the short description

Removed.

 - long descriptions is a little too short maybe? (dunno, it's just a
 feeling it's a merge of short sentences taken from website and package
 description)

That's right. I just add annother short sentence to make it a bit longer ;-)

 - you have to add the repack script, for example debian/repack.sh, and
 add it as parameter to debian/watch file.

Done.

 - from where did you inferred 2007 as copyright years? Only 2006 is
 clearly stated as copyright year for the code.

Changed to 2006.

 - without config file it's doesnt start:
 $ wbar
 Can't stat a config file. Try # make install or -config cfgfile

Fixed by including simple configuration file in wbar config search
path. Now should work.

 Let us know and reupload to mentors (no rev bump) when ready.

Uploaded.

Bug#527906: ITP: ocaml-text -- library for dealing with sequences of Unicode characters

2009-05-09 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli
On Sat, May 09, 2009 at 11:44:52AM +0200, Stephane Glondu wrote:
   Description : library for dealing with sequences of Unicode characters

Please improve the long descriptions, some hints:

  OCaml-Text is an OCaml library for dealing with text, i.e. sequences
  of Unicode characters, in a convenient way. It supports:
   * easy encoding/decoding of text;
   * a lot of functions for manipulation of UTF-8 encoded strings;

This line is useless, at least to me. What does it mean a lot of
functions? A lot of functions to do what kind of operations? I still
don't get from the descriptions whether they are some low-level
encoding handling functions or some high-level functions like text
layout (like boxes et al.).

  OCaml-Text is designed to be easy to use and interacts well with
  other projects.

Is this line useful? interacts well with other projects sounds like
marketing and nothing else ...

Thanks!
Cheers.

Hi,

there is actually some code in pkg-voip's SVN on alioth checked in by Bjoern
Boschman bjo...@boschman.de that may eventually get ready for uploading to
Debian. Thus changing the bug title to reflect that work has already begun. If
someone is willing to step up as comaint, there's sure a place in pkg-voip
to get this ready for closing this ITP.

  This package contains bindings to the BSD editline library. It provides a

  Additionally, a readline compatibility module is included which provides a

It would have been preferable to package readline, but there are some

Description: a psychoacoustics gammatone filter bank library.
 This library implements the Gammatone auditory filter
 bank which is a psychoacoustic model of how the basilar
 membrane moves in the ear.
 The library can filter arbitrary arrays of audio data
 and will produce the gammatone output for each of the
 filters which are spread along the length of the ear.
 The -DEV package comes with example code.
 This package is a C++ implementation of Slaney's 1993
 report :
 An Efficient Implementation of the

Bug#527962: ITP: jstest-gtk -- joystick testing and configuration tool

  Version : 0.1.0
  Upstream Author : Ingo Ruhnke grum...@gmx.de
* URL : http://pingus.seul.org/~grumbel/jstest-gtk/
* License : GPL3+

  Description : joystick testing and configuration tool

 jstest-gtk is a simple joystick tester based on Gtk+. It provides a list of
 attached joysticks, a way to display which buttons and axis are pressed,
 a way to remap axis and buttons and a way to calibrate your joystick.
 .
 Even when your joystick is working mostly fine, you might want to give it a
 try, as the calibration lets you get rid of overlarge default deadzones that
 many joysticks use and then is a noticeable problem in some games.

mi...@archlinux.ru, Mathias Gumz ak...@fluxbox.org
  URL : http://useperl.ru/ipager/index.en.html
  License : MIT
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : netwm compliant pager application

IPager is a pager originally developed for Fluxbox but it can also be
used with other window managers.
It supports the following features:
  - Zoom on desktop images
  - Main window transparency
  - Transparent workspaces icons.
  - Theming
  - You can send a window from one workspace to another
  - Application icons

Francois Fevotte originally filed an ITP against ipager
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=392804)
but later closed it for lack of interest and upstream development.
I believe that ipager should have a place in Debian. On the Fluxbox
wiki, ipager is listed as the first pager recommendation, whereas
fbpager (currently in debian) is deprecated. Although there has been a
lack of upstream development, the developers have been willing to
provide patches through email to fix build errors with newer versions of
gcc, and the package currently builds fine against sid.

Hi,

Sorry for the bouncing back and forth on this bug report. I have
attempted to contact upstream two more times. During the time since I
filed this bug report, upstream's subversion repository has also been
brought down. Due to this lack of contact, I don't think it's a good
idea to have ipager in Debian.

Daniel

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

The current maintainer of libloki, Lukas Fittl lfi...@fsfe.org,
is apparently not active anymore. Therefore, I orphan this package now.

previous maintainer says:
 The thing with the Loki C++ library is, that they haven't had a new
 release for some time now. They are still committing bugfixes to SVN
 if something comes up, but it's rather hard to build a nice package
 around that (ABI breaking, ..).

 I'm not sure though if it makes sense to remove the library, as I
 consider it to be one of the more important libraries when you're
 writing C++ code nowadays.

Maintaining a package requires time and skills. Please only adopt this
package if you will have enough time and attention to work on it.

If you want to be the new maintainer, please see
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/index.html#howto-o for detailed
instructions how to adopt a package properly.

The intended scope of this project is to implement working interface
wrappers for parsing and querying SCAP content including:

* Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE)
* Common Configuration Enumeration (CCE)
* Common Platform Enumeration (CPE)
* Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS)
* Extensible Configuration Checklist Description Format (XCCDF)

This utility makes it possible to build a Debian package of Oracle SQL
Developer. The Oracle SQL Developer program is governed by the copyright
holder (Oracle USA, Inc.), so you may be limited as to what you can do with
the resulting package (i.e. no redistribution, etc). This utility will simply
help you create the Debian package, it is your responsibility to use the

in the created package, that you must agree on when downloading the source.

This utility will require you to download the Oracle SQL Developer for other
platforms archive from http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/sql/ to
create the Debian package from.

  Description : h.264 video encoding script

This is just a shell script, but it's a shell script that knows about
every command line video tool available for linux, and can put them
together in handy combinations to generate nice videos. Guides you
interactively through all the choices.

I spent 12 hours watching tools fail and crash, then I found this script
and converted my 500 mb dv video from kino into a 15 mv avi of very high
quality, in minutes.

If I were packaging software right now, I'd package this myself.

Package: wnpp
Owner: David Spreen netzw...@debian.org
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: bitlbee-skype
  Version : 0.7.1
  Upstream Author : Miklos Vajna vmik...@vmiklos.hu
* URL or Web page : http://vmiklos.hu/project/bitlbee-skype/
* License : GPL v2 or later
  Description : Skype plugin for BitlBee
  Category: contrib

I intend to package bitlbee-skype, a plugin for the bitlbee IRC2IM gateway.
Since the plugin requires the non-free skype client to run, I will upload it
to contrib. It also depends on skype4py, which we need to get into
unstable/contrib
first but an ITP has been filed for that and efforts are underway to maintain
it within the DPMT.

The package will be divided into two binary packages, bitlbee-plugin-skype and
skyped. Skyped is the daemon that facilitates the communication with the skype
client and can run on a different machine than bitlbee. The plugin and skyped's
communication are encrypted.

Best Wishes,

David Spreen

Hello Bart,

I have packaged plexus-component-factories, but I won't release it for
now. I started working on it for Maven 2.1.0, but this version of Maven
uses some other packages actually.

You can have a look at my packages here:

Bug#527985: ITP: libbind -- DNS resolver and message parsing library

2009-05-09 Thread Robert Edmonds
Package: wnpp
Owner: Robert S. Edmonds edmo...@debian.org
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: libbind
  Version : 6.0
  Upstream Author : Internet Systems Consortium, Inc.
* URL : https://www.isc.org/software/libbind
* License : ISC
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : DNS resolver and message parsing library

 libbind contains the standard resolver library that was distributed in
 BIND9 prior to version 9.6. Included are functions that communicate with
 domain name servers, parse DNS messages, retrieve network host entries
 from /etc/hosts or via DNS, convert CIDR network addresses, perform Hesiod
 information lookups, retrieve network entries from /etc/networks,
 implement TSIG transaction/request security of DNS messages, perform
 name-to-address and address-to-name translations, and use /etc/resolv.conf
 for resolver configuration.
 .

note that the bind9 source package already ships a libbind-dev package
which is unrelated to libbind. i will probably embed the SONAME version in
the -dev package name for libbind to avoid conflicting with the bind9
package.

Bug#527906: ITP: ocaml-text -- library for dealing with sequences of Unicode characters

2009-05-09 Thread Stephane Glondu
Stefano Zacchiroli a écrit :
   Description : library for dealing with sequences of Unicode characters

 Please improve the long descriptions, some hints: [...]

What about:

 OCaml-Text is an OCaml library for dealing with text, i.e. sequences
 of Unicode characters, in a convenient way. It supports:
  * encoding/decoding of text;
  * functions for manipulation of UTF-8 encoded strings, such as
validation and most of the functions from List and String
modules of the OCaml standard library, adapted for UTF-8 strings;
  * locale-specific text functions (compare, upper, is_alpha, ...).
 .
 It is composed of two modules:
  * Encoding for encoding/decoding text
  * Text for text manipulation

  OCaml-Text is designed to be easy to use and interacts well with
  other projects.

 Is this line useful? interacts well with other projects sounds like
 marketing and nothing else ...

What's wrong with marketing? :-)

Thanks for your comments!
