Bug#634655: ITP: jenkins-xstream -- Jenkins fork of Java library to serialize objects to XML and back again

2011-07-19 Thread James Page
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: James Page james.p...@ubuntu.com

* Package name: jenkins-xstream
  Version : 1.3.1-hudson-8
* URL : https://github.com/jenkinsci/xstream
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Java
  Description : Jenkins fork of Java library to serialize objects to XML
and back again

 The features of the XStream library are:
 .
  - Ease of use. A high level facade is supplied that simplifies common
use cases.
  - No mappings required. Most objects can be serialized without need
for specifying mappings.
  - Performance. Speed and low memory footprint are a crucial part of
the design, making it suitable for large object graphs or systems
with high message throughput.
  - Clean XML. No information is duplicated that can be obtained via
reflection. This results in XML that is easier to read for humans
and more compact than native Java serialization.
  - Requires no modifications to objects. Serializes internal fields,
including private and final. Supports non-public and inner classes.
Classes are not required to have default constructor.
  - Full object graph support. Duplicate references encountered in the
object-model will be maintained. Supports circular references.
  - Integrates with other XML APIs. By implementing an interface,
XStream can serialize directly to/from any tree structure (not just
XML).
  - Customizable conversion strategies. Strategies can be registered
allowing customization of how particular types are represented as
XML.
  - Error messages. When an exception occurs due to malformed XML,
detailed diagnostics are provided to help isolate and fix the
problem.
  - Alternative output format. The modular design allows other output
formats. XStream ships currently with JSON support and morphing.
 .
 This package contains the jenkins/hudson fork of this project.

LTSP works fine without XFS.

I think debian-edu may still be using it, as it's recommended in

Libshevek is a library of functions and classes on top of gtkmm. It aims
at making them more easily usable, in particular to minimize the
configuration you need to do for useful default behaviour.

I am upstream of this library. I'm using it in several programs which I
intend to package eventually as well. As a first step, I want to package
the library.

Current repository: http://a83-163-111-92.adsl.xs4all.nl/svn/trunk/libshevek
This is my home server; I've registered a project on Alioth where the
repository should be moved.

Bug#540362: O: xfs -- X font server

2011-07-19 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
[Vagrant Cascadian]
 LTSP works fine without XFS.

Does it use XFS if it is present?

 I think debian-edu may still be using it, as it's recommended in
 education-thin-client-server. no idea if it's actually used.

Only if LTSP is used it out of the box when it is installed and
configured, like it used to a few years ago.

Happy hacking,

previous business dealings, but I strongly believe that with

understanding and trust we can have a successful business

relationship. I am a principal staff with Oil  Gas Company{BG GROUP}

in United Kingdom. I have access to very vital information that can be

used to transfer funds out of the project account to a secured account

outside United Kingdom .I have the required machineries to get it done

since I am still in active service. If it was possible for me to do it

alone I would not have bothered soliciting for foreign support,

ultimately I need an honest foreigner to play an important role in the

Bug#530427: [Pkg-libvirt-maintainers] About libguestfs in Debian

2011-07-19 Thread Nikita A Menkovich
Hi all,

Thanks Rich for CCing.

Now, I'm improving guestfsd package to provide access inside debian machine.

I know some problems in libguestfs debian packaging:

1. debian/changelog deleting after second debuild(it run make clean,
and for some reason this file marked as needed to delete)
2. on systems with kernel 2.6.36 guesfsd is useless, because it
require virtio_serial to work. It could be built with
vmchannel_test=no variable set.
3. Also febootstrap 3.2+ required(2.7 available in distro). I use
febootstrap 3.6, that don't need insmod.static, and it works well. I
build febootstrap 3.2, 3.6, 3.7 successfully on squeeze.

I'm developing debian directory separately here
https://github.com/librarian/libguestfs-debian

  I think libguestfs is interesting, may I help to packaging it ?

  Yes, having it in Debian would be great. Hilko worked on febootstrap
  and on libguestfs recently:

 Here's a bit of an update:

 Except for some gnulib-releated test cases that don't work properly, I
 have been able to build packages of 1.10.x.

 Upstream generates some files in debian/ through autoconf/automake, this
 has been a bit of a mess to work around.

 We will drop the debian/ directory as soon as it's added to Debian.
 It's a pain for us to maintain this too.

 I will try to find some time tonight to straighten out what I have got
 so far and push that to the repository.

 Any help is welcome, of course.

 CC to Nikita Menkovich who has been working on the debian/
 subdirectory upstream.

 Rich.

Bug#634757: RFA: lyx -- document processor

2011-07-19 Thread Sven Hoexter
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

We request an adopter for the lyx package. Both of us (pelle@ and hoexter@)
no longer use lyx so we would like to hand it over.

The package is currently in a good shape and most bugs are handled.
Upstream is very nice and responsive and I'm still around to help
if required. The package is maintained on git.d.o with git-buildpackage,
pristine-tar and in 3.0 quilt source format. You can find some of the
relevant links on http://wiki.debian.org/PkgLyx

Please not that you should dvipost along with lyx since it's solely used
with lyx afaik. elyxer, which is also in the pkg-lyx repository can be
taken aswell but I'll offer to keep that for some time.

The package description is:
 LyX is an almost WYSIWYG-frontend for LaTeX. It makes the power and
 typesetting quality of LaTeX available for people who are used to
 word processors. Since LyX supports LaTeX's concept of general
 mark-ups, it is even easier and faster to create professional quality
 documents with it than with usual word processors. It is also
 possible to use LaTeX commands within LyX, so nothing of LaTeX's
 power is lost.
 .
 You can extend the functionality of LyX by installing these packages:
  * chktex: check for typographical errors
  * dvipost: display tracked changes in DVI format output
  * gnuhtml2latex: import HTML documents
  * groff: improved table formatting in plain text exports
  * librsvg2-bin, inkscape: use the SVG image format in LyX documents
  * linuxdoc-tools: export SGML LinuxDoc documents
  * mythes-*: use the OpenOffice.org/LibreOffice Thesaurus
  * noweb: import noweb files
  * rcs: integrated version control
  * sgmltools-lite: export SGML DocBook documents
  * wv: import MS Word documents

Bug#634759: RFA: dvipost -- Post processor for dvi files supporting change bars

2011-07-19 Thread Sven Hoexter
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the dvipost package.

This will be only relevant for someone who adopts it along with lyx.
Please see the RFA bug for lyx for more details.

The package description is:
 Dvipost is a post processor for dvi files, created by LaTeX or TeX.
 If the command is invoked as pplatex, it integrates the call of latex
 and the post processing of the dvi file.
 .
 Dvipost is used for special modes, which normally need the support of
 dvi drivers (such as dvips). With dvipost, these features could be implemented
 independent of the preferred driver. Currently, the post processor supports
 layout raster, change bars and overstrike mode.

 The problem: The Amulet of Yendor has been stolen. Not only
 that but it appears that the Wizard of Yendor (not a nice person),

Bug#634235: ITP: mess-desktop-entries -- Desktop entries for MESS ROMS

   Description : Desktop entries for MESS ROMS

  This is a collection of desktop entries to handle ROM files for certain game
  consoles. They use the Multiple Emulator Super System (MESS) to start a
  game by simply double-clicking the ROM file from a file manager.

This package appeared in main and does not depend on MESS, only enhances
it - still it seems to me that this package have no use without MESS and
therefore should instead be in contrib - because MESS is in non-free.

Bug#634811: ITP: dillo -- fast and light web browser based on FLTK 1.3

2011-07-19 Thread Axel Beckert
Package: wnpp
Owner: Axel Beckert a...@debian.org
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: dillo
  Version : 3.0 (yet to be released)
  Upstream Author : Jorge Arellano Cid j...@dillo.org et al.
* URL or Web page : http://www.dillo.org/
* License : GPLv3+
  Description : Small and fast web browser based on FLTK 1.3

Dillo is a multi-platform graphical web browser known for its speed and
small footprint.

Background:

Dillo 1 was removed from Debian because it depended on GTK 1.2, Dillo 2
was never packaged because it depended on FLTK 2.0 which had license
issues. They're now resolved, but developement of FLTK 2.0 was stopped
in favor of FLTK 1.3.

So I plan to reintroduce Dillo in form of the currently active FLTK 1.3
port aka Dillo 3 which is close to it's first release.

I remember asking for dillo to be removed due to the above, I'm glad
someone has had time to fix the issues. Is dillo v3.0 using GTK 3 or
GTK 2 with no deprecated code or just FLTK1.3? (I'm assuming dillo3 for
Debian would change the default build to not statically link FLTK.)

How does the (unreleased) version compare with Arora (my current
candidate for small but usable web browser) and how soon is it
likely to be ready for release?
