Bug#627518: how is it going with the ITP? it will be needed for upcoming ipython

2011-08-31 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko
Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the ITP. I wonder if there was any progress?

It will soon be needed for upcoming new ipython release, so I thought to
check on the status.

Thanks in advance

Cheers,

Description : POE component base class which implements the Observer
pattern

POE::Component::Syndicator is a base class for POE components which need to
handle a persistent resource (e.g. a connection to an IRC server) for one or
more sessions in an extendable way.

POE::Component::Syndicator (as well as Object::Pluggable, which this module
inherits from) was born out of POE::Component::IRC, the guts of which quickly
spread to other POE components. Now they can all inherit from this module
instead.

top panel

Installing this package adds a timer application to the GNOME Shell top
panel. With it you can start a timer of any duration and when elapsed,
you'll get a notification. You can also preconfigure various durations to
 avoid having to retype them.

It's a natural replacement of the "timer applet" for GNOME 2 (or 3 in
 fallback mode).

Users of the Pomodoro method will find this extension very useful.

vim-rails is a set of vim scripts natively Debian packages in the
manner of vim-scripts that allows the user to edit Ruby on Rails
applications with ease.

The package exists in Ubuntu and is due an update, which would be
better pushed into Debian first if possible.

| In this form, there are troubles with building (due to the original
| tarball being missing), so I've got to carry out these steps instead:
|
| gbp-clone git://git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/emelfm2.git
| cd emelfm2.git
| git branch pristine-tar origin/pristine-tar
| git-buildpackage -us -uc
|
| This assumes one has git-buildpackage installed (which I think is
| required to build this package anyway).
| I've just built it for Squeeze, and everywhing went OK so far.
|
| By the way, Jari, are there any news about this package?
| Both links from regarding the status of this package in NEW mentioned
| earlier in this thread do not mention emelfm2, and neither does
| http://package.debian.org search engine knows about it, so I'm confused.

After discussing with Debian FTP masters, they notified that the
package is on hold. They require the image sources to be packaged
within the emelfm2, although it is already packaged separately in:

  http://packages.debian.org/sid/emelfm2-svg-icons

This would effectively make emelfm2 a multi-tarball source which the
developer has to build by hand every time new release appears. I don't
know if FTP masters requirement even implies building the PNGs and
SVGs out of that image source ball; it is not supported in the current
state of emelfm2.

I'd like to express my thanks to Ricardo, whose help in here has been very
essential in this long process.

Unfortunately I no more have time to continue to work with this. A new
prospective developer is free to take over.

Thanks,
Jari

Hi,

I am orphaning the package in behalf of the Java team because:
- it hasn't been maintained for a long time
- it has no or only orphaned reverse dependencies
- it has a low popcon value
- it has been replaced by clojure1.2
Feel free to re-introduce it to the team if want to actively maintain it.

It was discussed on games-devel and people did not rule it out completely.
But as the fmod authors doesn't even allow a non-commercial binary distribution
of their software I had to drop the idea anyway.

Thanks for that information. As it turns out vavoom is already on mentors.d.n!
Unfortunately it cannot run some games that are specially designed for zdoom
(I could not get this very cool total conversion to run with vavoom:
http://www.afadoomer.com/wolf3d).

I've now packaged a installer-script that takes care of downloading and
building a zdoom package (http://mentors.debian.net/package/zdoom-installer).

Any comments on that?

Thanks for your help!

Johey

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

http://www.diku.dk/hjemmesider/ansatte/panic/P-touch/ has the program
ptouch-driver, which is a driver for CUPS and Foomatic for Brother
P-touch label printers.

I made a quick-and-dirty package for myself, diff.gz attached. Note that
I am _not_ willing to maintain this myself, unfortunately. I will soon
be far away from my label printer.

The diff contains a fix that works for at least the QL-550 model, which
seems to have 275 dpi pixel density along one axis, and 300 on the
other. The upstream code assumes 300 for both. The incorrect density
makes the label cutter cut at the wrong place (in the middle of a label,
rather than between them). I've informed the upstream author of this.

Other than that, the package is extremely straightforward to make, using
dh (or cups, I assume).

When I installed my package, and added the printer via the GNOME printer
admin tool, it generated a PPD file in /etc/cups/ppd/Brother-QL-550.ppd,
which works otherwise fine, but the ImageableArea settings are wrong,
and make it impossible to print near the edges of the labels. I fixed
this by editing the file manually, since I could not figure out how that
file gets generated and fix the source of the wrong settings. I'm
attaching the manually edited file as well. Someone who understands the
whole CUPS system should figure out the proper fix.

Bug#639498: ITP: tickr -- GTK-based highly graphically-customizable RSS Feed Ticker

2011-08-31 Thread Emmanuel Thomas-Maurin
There is a package named 'ticker' which provide a text scroller
inside a terminal, without rss parsing ability or graphical options.

My package 'tickr' is more similar to 'knewsticker' which, if I'm
right, is no more available with KDE4, or 'gnews' which(again,
if I'm right)is not maintained anymore.

So there is now a lack of this kind of application.

* Package name: simple-build-tool

Tony Sloane, Vesa Vilhonen, Jason Zaugg
* URL : https://github.com/harrah/xsbt

  Programming Lang: Scala
Description : build tool for Scala and mixed Scala/Java projects

sbt knows how to compile Scala code, to run tests, to package jars and wars,
and to start the Scala interpreter with the right classpath. Build definitions
are specified using a Scala domain specific language (DSL), in a mix of
declarative and imperative styles.

sbt manages dependencies, leveraging existing Maven or Ivy package repositories.

sbt can run in continuous compilation mode, and for testing and deployment,
helping programmers adhere to a test-driven development methodology. Changes
to source files are monitored and dependencies are extracted from the compiler
so that only a minimum set of dependent sources will be recompiled, reducing
rebuild times.

Bug#433530: Still open?

Bug#428127: Nearly done

This is a bit more complicated than that. See attached what I could
come up with.

As 2.9 requires updated dependencies, I think it is better to stay with 2.8.

I did not know about those.

No need to, 2.8 does not require those, and I'm fine with 2.8 for my
goal which is getting the GWT compiler into Debian.

Thanks,

Alex

I agree. I had already written that I would be willing if
nobody else wants to. The problem is my lack of time as I, too,
have lots of other projects (not only computing stuff) going.
Also though I've been using and packaging for Debian for long
I'm not too familiar with the particularities of being
maintainer for a package. If there's a group of people working
together on this I think this could work.

Cheers,

M'bert

Bug#639868: ITP: chado -- Chado is a relational database schema that underlies many GMOD installations.

2011-08-31 Thread Olivier Sallou
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Olivier Sallou

* Package name: chado
  Version : 1.11
  Upstream Author : GMOD
* URL : http://gmod.org/wiki/Chado_-_Getting_Started
* License : Artistic License 2.0
  Programming Lang: Perl,SQL
Description : Chado is a relational database schema that underlies many
GMOD installations.

It is capable of representing many of the general classes of data frequently
encountered in modern biology such as sequence, sequence comparisons,
phenotypes, genotypes, ontologies, publications, and phylogeny.

It has been designed to handle complex representations of biological
knowledge and should be considered one of the most sophisticated
relational schemas currently available in molecular biology.
