The mailing list needs a new home.

Ideally I'd like the following Jim Tcl setup:

Same as for OpenOCD and I'm especially pleased with how Gerrit+Jenkins

CiviCRM is a Contact and Relationship Manager designed specifically to

    * Case management for clients and constituents.
    * Online fundraising and donor management.
    * Online event registration and participant tracking.
    * Online signup and membership management.
    * Personalized email campaigns and newsletters.
    * Report generation and template management.

Hi Ben,

It's great to see that someone is working on getting CiviCRM into
Debian. I wanted to let you know that there was some previous work on
this a while back that you might be able to leverage. Daniel Holbach
and I put some effort into this as part of the Ubuntu NGO team, but
this has stalled largely due to the number of bundled PHP code copies.
There is a wiki page that we used to track this work [0]. There you
can find links to debian packaging branches for quite a few of the
bundled code copies as well as a link to a PPA with binary and source
packages. We forwarded our work to pkg-php-maint at the time. Some of
these things have found there way into Debian since. There is also a
branch for a civicrm package at lp:~ubuntu-ngo/civicrm/ubuntu This
package was functional, but never really ready for prime-time.

Please let me know if there is any way I can help.

would be so kind as to upload a new version that does not include *
\test_file* directory, because it contains binaries that are not needed in
debian, called non-DFSG-free material and generate errors in lintian.

Bug#442364: This package is not in Debian ?

2011-10-19 Thread David Hannequin

Hello,

I am interested to make the package and have done some work. For me it
is important that this package is in Debian and I'd be the owner of the
ITP bug in debian package upload his or mine or upload. Do you think it
is now possible? Is what I can offer my package?

Best regard

With Berlios closing in a few weeks, on the 31st of October, is there
any other place upstream plans to move the sources to? Or will the
upstream url become stale at that point?

 Hi Gergely,

good point, thanks; hereby CC'ing jim-devel guys.

Jim developers: any idea where Jim will emigrate ?

31 October!!
Surely you mean 31 December.

Yes, I plan to migrate the mailing list and website, probably to sourceforge.
Probably some time next month.

The mailing list needs a new home.

Ideally I'd like the following Jim Tcl setup:

 - git+gerrit + jenkins
 - mailing list

Same as for OpenOCD and I'm especially pleased with how Gerrit+Jenkins
is taking things to the next level after git.

With the low volume of patches to Jim Tcl, I don't see any need
to change from the current approach of accepting patches on the mailing list.
This is a low barrier to entry for new contributors.

It is also possible to submit pull requests on github.

We can always move to something more sophisticated in the future if necessary.

Cheers,
Steve

Bug#645700: RFP: civicrm -- contact and relationship management system for community and advocacy groups

2011-10-19 Thread Ben Finney
On 19-Oct-2011, Andrew Starr-Bochicchio wrote:
It's great to see that someone is working on getting CiviCRM into
 Debian.

I'm sorry to inform you that's not the case. This bug report is a Request
For Package; it's a place to coordinate requests for the work and any
possible future people who might step forward to do the work.

To my knowledge there's no work being done on this for Debian yet, and I'm
not suitable to package a complex PHP application :-)

I wanted to let you know that there was some previous work on this a
while back that you might be able to leverage. Daniel Holbach and I put
some effort into this as part of the Ubuntu NGO team, but this has
stalled largely due to the number of bundled PHP code copies.

Great! I'm glad that it's further along than I'd thought.

If you decide to resume this work and contribute the package to Debian,
please act early to update this bug report accordingly:

If you are going to package this, retitle the bug report to replace
RFP with ITP, in order for other people to know the program is
already being packaged, and set yourself as the owner of the bug. Then
package the software, upload it and close this bug once the package has
been installed.

I guess I misread the title out of hopefulness. =) Still, this is good
information to have in the bug report either way.
