Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the cdargs package.

The package description is:
 CDargs is a tool which enhances the navigation of the common unix file-system
 inside the shell. It plugs into the shell built-in cd-command (via a shell
 function or an alias) and adds bookmarks and a browser to it.
 .
 It enables you to move to a very distant place in the file-system with just a
 few keystrokes.

Bug#676479: ITP: libcatalyst-authentication-credential-http-perl -- HTTP Basic and Digest authentication for Catalyst

2012-06-07 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jonas Smedegaard d...@jones.dk

  Version : 1.014
  Upstream Author : Jess Robinson, Sascha Kiefer ess...@cpan.org,
Yuval Kogman nothingm...@woobling.org
* URL :
http://search.cpan.org/dist/Catalyst-Authentication-Credential-HTTP/
* License : Artistic or GPL-1+
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : HTTP Basic and Digest authentication for Catalyst

 Catalyst::Authentication::Credential::HTTP lets you use HTTP
 authentication with Catalyst::Plugin::Authentication. Both basic and
 digest authentication are currently supported.
 .
 When authentication is required, this module sets a status of 401, and
 the body of the response to 'Authorization required.'. To override this
 and set your own content, check for the $c-res-status == 401 in
 your end action, and change the body accordingly.

Bug#676504: ITP: pocl -- Portable OpenCL

2012-06-07 Thread Vincent Danjean
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Vincent Danjean vdanj...@debian.org

* Package name: pocl
  Version : 0.6
  Upstream Author : Carlos Sánchez de La Lama and others
* URL : https://launchpad.net/pocl
* License : Some kind of BSD
  Programming Lang: C/llvm
  Description : Portable OpenCL

Portable OpenCL is an open source implementation of the OpenCL standard which
can be easily adapted for new targets. One of the goals of the project is
improving performance portability of OpenCL programs, avoiding the need for
target-dependent manual optimizations. A native target is included, which
allows running OpenCL kernels on the host (CPU).

This would allow to have a free implementation in Debian so that OpenCL
programs can be packaged. Other well-known implementations (AMD, NVidia, Intel)
are non-free.

Bug#670875: About your newly uploaded logsurfer to mentors.d.n

2012-06-07 Thread Thilo Uttendorfer
Am 05.06.2012 um 19:55 schrieb Aron Xu:
 For the newly uploaded version, issues remaining:

 1. debian/* are licensed under GPL-2, so your patches cannot be
 directly integrated to upstream unless you re-license it. This is okay
 to accept the package, but a suggestion to license at least those
 patches under the same license as your upstream.

I changed the license of the patches to the upstream license.

 2. debian/copyright said all upstream files are licensed under a
 BSD-like license, but at least the following two files are licensed
 under GPL-2+: src/regex.c and src/regex.h. Please recheck all files
 and document them

Fixed. Could you have a look at regex/regex.ps, I hope I got this
one right in debian/copyright.

 3. debian/rules has many template sentences from dh-make, please
 remove those unnecessary ones.

Fixed.

I just uploaded the new version.

Thanks again for looking at the package!

Bug#676518: ITP: libcrypt-util-perl -- lightweight Crypt/Digest convenience API

2012-06-07 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jonas Smedegaard d...@jones.dk

* Package name: libcrypt-util-perl
  Version : 0.11
  Upstream Author : Ann Barcomb, יובל קוג'מן (Yuval Kogman)
nothingm...@woobling.org
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Crypt-Util/
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : lightweight Crypt/Digest convenience API

 Crypt::Util provides an easy, intuitive and forgiving API for wielding
 crypto-fu.
 .
 The API is designed as a cascade, with rich features built using
 simpler ones. This means that the option processing is uniform
 throughout, and the behaviors are generally predictable.
 .
 Note that Crypt::Util doesn't do any crypto on its own, but delegates
 the actual work to the various other crypto modules on the CPAN.
 Crypt::Util merely wraps these modules, providing uniform parameters,
 and building on top of their polymorphism with higher level features.

Bug#650775: ITP: pebl-language -- platform for psychology experiments

2012-06-07 Thread Bart Martens
retitle 650775 ITP: pebl-language -- platform for psychology experiments
stop

Hi Toby,

There is already a source package named pebl in Debian :
http://packages.qa.debian.org/p/pebl.html

But it is other software, with this homepage :
https://code.google.com/p/pebl-project/

I'm retitling this ITP bug to pebl-language to end the name conflict, but feel
free to choose a different name, or to ask the maintainers of the source
package pebl to rename their source package, for example to python-pebl.

Regards,

Bart Martens

Bug#648682: unmerging ITPs for gvl and lierolibre

I created a fork/branch of gvl[0] (due to inactive upstream) and is
currently packaging this as an integral part of lierolibre (gvl was
pretty much always meant as being tied to liero, and _very_ unfit to be
a shared lib).

Hence I figured it made logical sense to merge the ITPs, since that's
what's happening in practice with the code... You think it's better to
close the ITP in this case?

  Description : HTTP Basic and Digest authentication for Catalyst

 Catalyst::Authentication::Credential::HTTP lets you use HTTP
 authentication with Catalyst::Plugin::Authentication. Both basic and
 digest authentication are currently supported.
 .
 When authentication is required, this module sets a status of 401, and
 the body of the response to 'Authorization required.'. To override this
 and set your own content, check for the $c-res-status == 401 in
 your end action, and change the body accordingly.

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Russ Allbery r...@debian.org

This ITP probably needs some additional discussion. log4shib is a fork
of log4cpp (as described in the long description below) that is the
recommended logging library for the Shibboleth web authentication project.
Shibboleth is already packaged for Debian (xmltooling, opensaml2, and
shibboleth-sp2 source packages) and is currently built against log4cpp.
However, log4shib is actively maintained (log4cpp appears to be dormant)
and has bug fixes and thread safety fixes not present in the current
log4cpp.

I'm hesitant to introduce this sort of code duplication in the archive,
but I think this will result in a more robust and higher quality set of
Shibboleth packages. The Shibboleth maintainers also maintain log4shib
actively, and while there hasn't been a new release of it since 2009 (the
last log4cpp release was in 2007), that's only because no new bugs for the
functionality that Shibboleth uses have cropped up.

Shibboleth upstream has submitted the fixes and changes to the log4cpp
tracker and some have been applied in their CVS and some changed in
other ways (that the Shibboleth upstream didn't have time to evaluate),
but no actual release has happened since that work. (One of the issues
that Shibboleth upstream had, not directly relevant to Debian, was lack
of testing on Solaris and support on Windows.)

I'd be very interested to hear comments on this, particularly if, for
instance, the security team is concerned. The package would be
introduced for the use of Shibboleth; I don't know of any other clients
of the library.

Regular ITP details follow:

* Package name: log4shib
  Version : 1.0.4
  Upstream Author : Scott Cantor
* URL :
https://wiki.shibboleth.net/confluence/display/OpenSAML/log4shib
* License : LGPL 2.1
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : log4j-style configurable logging library for C++

log4shib provides a library of C++ classes for flexible logging to
files, syslog, and other destinations. It is modeled after the log4j
Java library, staying as close to that API as is reasonable.

log4shib is a fork of the log4cpp library with additional fixes and
modifications to improve its thread safety and robustness. It is
primarily intended for use by the Shibboleth web authentication
system.

* Package name: ocl-icd

  Description : Generic OpenCL ICD Loader

This source package will provide two binary pakages:
Package: ocl-icd-libopencl1
Description: Generic OpenCL ICD Loader
 OpenCL (Open Computing Language) is a multivendor open standard for
 general-purpose parallel programming of heterogeneous systems that include
 CPUs, GPUs and other processors.
 .
 This package contains an installable client driver loader (ICD Loader)
 library that can be used to load any (free or non-free) installable client
 driver (ICD) for OpenCL. It acts as a demultiplexer so several ICD can
 be installed and used together.

Package: ocl-icd-dev
Description: Development files to build a ICD Loader
 OpenCL (Open Computing Language) is a multivendor open standard for
 general-purpose parallel programming of heterogeneous systems that include
 CPUs, GPUs and other processors.
 .
 This package provides a header file that allows a OpenCL implementation
 to build a installable client driver (ICD). With a ICD, an OpenCL
 implementation can be used by any OpenCL program without the need
 to link the program to the specific OpenCL implementation.

A few word about the context. There exist lots of OpenCL implementations.
A OpenCL program can either link to a specific OpenCL implementation
or it can link to a standardized libOpenCL library that allows the
program to dynamically choose the OpenCL implementation or even to
use several OpenCL implementations in the same program. In fact
libOpenCL is only a wrapper (more exactly a dispatcher) to
OpenCL implementations provided as ICD.
  ocl-icd is the only one (to my knowledge) free implementation of
such a ICD Loader. The main difficulty to implement it is that
all compatible ICD must provide a structure filled with OpenCL
function pointers, but there is no free documentation about the order
of these functions.
  So ocl-icd sources include tools to help to find this order from
closed-sources OpenCL implementations (by creating a fake OpenCL ICD
and letting the closed-source ICD Loader execute the faked functions).
Once the order is found, it is registered into a database. Vendors
ensure between them that functions are always at the same place so
the database is only filled when a new closed-source ICD Loader uses
more functions. Entries in the database are never modified nor
removed.
  ocl-icd also provides a header file declaring this structure of
function pointers so that any OpenCL implementation will be easily
able to provide an ICD. The goal is to add such an ICD to free
OpenCL implementation such as LIBCLC or clover.

  The Debian package will only use the database (ocl_interface.yaml
in the sources), so it will not have any non-free dependencies.
However, it needs opencl-headers that are currently in contrib.
  This is why I would ask opencl-headers maintainers to reconsider
the place of opencl-headers. If I understand correctly,
opencl-headers have been uploaded to contrib because their only
use case would be to compile an OpenCL program for a closed-source
OpenCL implementation (mainly amd or nvidia).
  Now, opencl-headers is required to compile this free ICD Loader.
And this free ICD Loader has all what is needed to compile a
free ICD from free OpenCL implementation.
  So, is it possible to upload opencl-headers to main instead of
contrib?

  Regards,
Vincent

PS: a preliminary package is on my repo:

  Description : return a pair only if they are both defined

 Moose classes (and some other classes) distinguish between an attribute
 being unset and the attribute being set to undef. Supplying a
 constructor arguments like this:
 .
 my $bob = Person-new(
name = $name,
age = $age,
);
 .
 Will result in the name and age attributes possibly being set to
 undef (if the corresponding $name and $age variables are not defined),
 which may violate the Person class' type constraints.
 .
 PerlX::Maybe checks that $x and $y are both defined. If they are, it
 returns them both as a list; otherwise it returns the empty list.

Description: Bayesian MCMC analysis of molecular sequences
BEAST is a cross-platform program for Bayesian MCMC analysis of molecular
sequences. It is entirely orientated towards rooted, time-measured
phylogenies inferred using strict or relaxed molecular clock models. It
can be used as a method of reconstructing phylogenies but is also a
framework for testing evolutionary hypotheses without conditioning on a
single tree topology. BEAST uses MCMC to average over tree space, so that
each tree is weighted proportional to its posterior probability. Included
is a simple to use user-interface program for setting up standard
analyses and a suit of programs for analysing the results.

This package has been neglected for a while and upstream seems dead.
Currently the upstream site shows a recommendation for users of Dia =
0.97 to use libparse-dia-sql-perl.

The package has been removed from Squeeze on the grounds that it simply
doesn't work with the released version of Dia and if nobody declares
interest in maintaining it (which might include playing upstream) in the
few months after the release from Squeeze, I'll probably request its
removal.

Cheers

Bug#676574: O: htp - html simple command line pre-processor

2012-06-07 Thread Diego Escalante Urrelo
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

htp is a small utility that parses template files and produces html.
I has a few handy elements in its pseudo-language, useful for small
static pages that get updated once in a while.

I am no longer interested in maintaining it because I do not use it
anymore.

htp has a somewhat old/slow upstream:
http://htp.sourceforge.net/

I suggest to adopt this package if you are looking for a small, simple,
project to work on and learn about Debian packaging.

Diego

This is a C/C++ client library for the MusicBrainz web service. It's
been deprecated
upstream, ideally no package in Debian should depend on it. It will
stop working with
the next MusicBrainz server release.

I no longer use Debian as my OS. Even though I'd like to keep
maintaining this package, I'm afraid I don't have enough time to do it.

Bug#642934: sponsorship for aircrack-ng

2012-06-07 Thread intrigeri
Hi,

David Francos wrote (01 May 2012 12:15:15 GMT) :
 Thank you, I'll fix this as soon as possible, I've been forced to
 leave all this behind for a while, hope to be able to catch with
 it soon.

Any chance you, or Carlos (who still owns the ITP bug) or anyone else
fixes this in time for the Wheezy freeze?

 About the licensing, there seems to be still an issue, hope it gets
 resolved soon enough.

To clarify, is this issue the one with the OpenSSL that Carlos raised
in message #132? Given there's a patch that was apparently well
tested, perhaps the patch could be applied to the Debian package, and
this should not be blocking the upload to Debian? (Perhaps I missed
something, merely trying to see what's *really* blocking on
this front.)
