Bug#703226: reassign ITP patchwork
On 23 August 2014 08:50, Carsten Schoenert c.schoen...@t-online.de wrote: owner 703226 arturo.borrero.g...@gmail.com thanks Hello Arturo, On Wed, Aug 20, 2014 at 05:53:50PM +0200, Arturo Borrero Gonzalez wrote: I will try to package it in upcoming weeks. If you want, I can contact you when that happen, so you can have a preview of the package before the release. that sounds fine to me. I will try to contact Jeremy and ask him to overtake the old patch from the patchqueue. The patch adds some simple error checking. The patch isn't originally from me, Guido Guenther was helping me in the past. Sure, nice. Locally I have done in the past some trying to use debconf and dbconfig-common for automatic configuration of the package while installation. But especially dbconfig-common is still a mystery to me. Yes, also for me. I would try to get a first package in place, with no extras. Then, we can iterate the package development and integrate it with debconf or whatever. But that sound to me like a future step. In general I was thinking about splitting the source package into at last two binary packages (one for mysql and the other for postgresql backend) but make it possible to setup more than one instance. In theory a sqlite backend is also possible but this would be not really performant, so this maybe only useful for testing stuf without the big databases. I also have no nowing about usage of mariadb or so. Makes sense. Also, I think it worth having another binary package just for the pwclient tool. I'm interested in co maintainig the package, but currently I simply have not enough time bring the package in a first state for releasing. It would be nice to co-maint the package. So if you have forther question or little testing tasks I'm willing to help. Do not bother to contact me directly. Ok thanks. PS: I was free to set you as new owner for this ITP. Ok. I've started doing the packaging, but Could you please send me a pointer to your previous package? regards. -- Arturo Borrero González -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#759210: RFP: macchiato -- MAC spoofing with a restricted range of OUI prefixes
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: macchiato Version : git 90fa147d (but see PKGBUILD file) Upstream Author : Etienne Perot etienne at perot dot me * URL : https://github.com/EtiennePerot/macchiato * License : 3-clause BSD (+ icon under CC by-sa 3.0) Programming Lang: bash Description : MAC spoofing with a restricted range of OUI prefixes macchiato is a Bash script that assigns a random MAC address to specified network interfaces. It is meant to run at boot time. . Its twist is that the MAC addresses it assigns to network interfaces is limited to a few OUI prefixes. A MAC address's first 3 bytes indicates the manufacturer of the hardware, as defined by the IEEE's OUI registry. As such, attempting to randomize this part of the MAC address by simply picking a random sequence of 3 bytes uniformly results very often in MAC addresses that aren't registered to any publicized OUI, which is a very strong indication that the user is using a spoofed MAC address. . macchiato lets you define which network interfaces you want to use a spoofed MAC, and which classes of OUI prefixes the random MAC addresses should use. For example, you can restrict your laptop's onboard wireless interface to only be assigned MAC addresses that are actually found in laptop wireless chips. This would be an interesting alternative to 'macchanger', and could be useful for the Freedombox project and similar things. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#748946: help with sidekiq tests
On Wednesday 20 August 2014 06:30 PM, Cédric Boutillier wrote: Hi Praveen, On Wed, Aug 20, 2014 at 02:53:35AM +0530, Pirate Praveen wrote: On Thursday 22 May 2014 11:38 PM, Pirate Praveen wrote: Hi I get lots of errors like this, 2) Error: sidekiq web#test_0020_escape job args and error messages: Errno::ENOENT: No such file or directory @ rb_sysopen - /usr/lib/ruby/web/views/retries.erb web/views/*.erb is actually at the root of the library. If someone familiar with these templating libraries can have a look it would be great. It is a matter of installing these in the correct path and setting it, I guess. I have installed web directory in /usr/share/ruby-sidekiq and patched lib/sidekiq/web.rb to pick this path but there is another problem. The tests are run from lib path where as I remember we had to explicitly add lib directory to load path earlier. it seems to be automatically taken now, what is the rationale for this change? in ruby-tests.rake I have added only tests to the load path. The rake/testtask file adds automatically by default the lib/ directory to the load_path. Check e.g. line 81 of /usr/lib/ruby/2.1.0/rake/testtask.rb Therefore if you ant to add *only* test/, and not lib, you should replace tests.libs by [test/] (and not add test to that array that contains lib/). There was also a missing / from you patch I guess. Another thing is that the files in web should be installed in usr/share/ruby-sidekiq/ before dh_auto_install, since it's the one triggering the tests. So I added to override_dh_auto_install a call to dh_install to install web before the tests are run. (probably debian/ruby-sidekiq.install isn't needed anymore) I pushed these three changes to the team repo. Now the tests in test/test_web.rb are passing. I still get a random number of test failures coming from other parts though. I'll try to have a closer look later. kill any left out redis process (they don't get killed if the build fails) now one error and one failure is left I can get myapp from github but has so many errors so I'm inclined to disable this test for now. If anyone is interested to get this working, try it. I need to look further about the test failure. # Running: ...E.F.. It provides an abstraction for most of the high-level concepts of C++: - Classes - Enumerations - Properties - Functions - Objects - Variables By wrapping all these concepts into abstract structures, CAMP provides an extra layer of flexibility to programs, and allow them to fully expose their data structures at runtime. Many applications can take advantage of CAMP, in order to automate tasks which would otherwise require a huge amount of work. For example, CAMP can be used to expose and edit objects' attributes into a graphical user interface. It can also be used to do automatic binding of C++ classes to script languages such as Python or Lua. Another possible application would be the serialization of objects to XML, text or binary formats. Or you can even combine all these examples to provide a powerful and consistent interface for manipulating your objects outside C++ code. Matija Nalis mnalis-debian...@voyager.hr writes: Matija Nalis mnalis-debian...@voyager.hr writes: - sudo -u postgres createdb -E UNICODE -O mediagoblin mediagoblin complains with: createdb: database creation failed: ERROR: new encoding (UTF8) is incompatible with the encoding of the template database (SQL_ASCII) HINT: Use the same encoding as in the template database, or use template0 as template. So I did: sudo -u postgres createdb -E UNICODE -T template0 -O mediagoblin mediagoblin which didn't complain. Hopefully it did the right thing :) That's strange. It works for me, and psql -c '\list' shows the encoding of template1 as UTF8 on both a wheezy machine and a jessie machine. Is this a fresh install? No, it was upgrade from squeeze (and possibly woody before that, but probably squeeze was first install). But even on fresh jessie debootstrap(8) install, it shows for me: $ psql -c '\list' List of databases Name |Owner| Encoding | Collate | Ctype | Access privileges -+-+---+-+---+--- mediagoblin | mediagoblin | UTF8 | C | C | postgres| postgres| SQL_ASCII | C | C | template0 | postgres| SQL_ASCII | C | C | =c/postgres + | | | | | postgres=CTc/postgres template1 | postgres| SQL_ASCII | C | C | =c/postgres + | | | | | postgres=CTc/postgres (4 rows) it might be different if installed through debian installer, and user choose something other than C locale. I usually choose C on servers and even rarely install locales package at all, unless I need it. I'm not quite sure why this is. I'll look into it more. Again, thanks a lot for going over this package. The updated version can be found on mentors here: https://mentors.debian.net/package/mediagoblin Thanks a lot! Ok, I tried with: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/m/mediagoblin/mediagoblin_0.6.1-1+dfsg1.dsc and clean jessie chroot system (created via debootstrap(8)) - so it would be closer to targeted distribution (I'll try wheezy again when I get it to work in jessie): - sudo -u postgres createuser mediagoblin does not ask any of the questions: Shall the new role be a superuser? (y/n) n Shall the new role be allowed to create databases? (y/n) n Shall the new role be allowed to create more new roles? (y/n) n but seems to create user ok. So something to that effect probably should be in docs: if you're asked the following questions, the correct answers are... The README.debian has the following: Then answer NO to all the questions: Shall the new role be a superuser? (y/n) n Shall the new role be allowed to create databases? (y/n) n Shall the new role be allowed to create more new roles? (y/n) n - sudo -u postgres createdb -E UNICODE -O mediagoblin mediagoblin still fails: createdb: database creation failed: ERROR: new encoding (UTF8) is incompatible with the encoding of the template database (SQL_ASCII) HINT: Use the same encoding as in the template database, or use template0 as template. I guess it might be related to system using default C locale, and not something utf8-based, but I don't really know. Anyway workaround with adding -T template0 seems to work and db is created. I think we should mention that workaround in README.Debian if the user encounters the bug. I'll move to 'sudo -u postgres createdb -E UNICODE -T template0 -O mediagoblin mediagoblin' in the README for now. It should work for both the UTF8 case and the SQL_ASCII case. - 3. Add the following to the [mediagoblin] in /etc/mediagoblin.ini: correct path is /etc/mediagoblin/mediagoblin.ini Fixed. - $ su - [mediagoblin] we should drop the square brackets around 'mediagoblin', they're confusing (and don't work). So make it just: '$ su - mediagoblin' Good point. I've changed it. - on /usr/bin/gmg -cf /etc/mediagoblin/mediagoblin.ini dbupdate step, it warns: WARNING:mediagoblin.init.config:When setting up config section, could not import 'mediagoblin.media_types.image' - Initializing main mediagoblin tables... done. + Laying foundations for Privilege table if that warning is OK, we should mention in docs that it should be ignored. If it isn't, we'll need to find out what is the problem (maybe depends on mime.types handler or something?) There should have been an

Bug#741487: A useful fork for web authors wanting to optimize their images
While the name suggests that it's another general-purpose JPEG library, it's actually closer to the jpegoptim optimization tool. From the upstream README: 'mozjpeg' is not intended to be a general JPEG library replacement. It makes tradeoffs that are intended to benefit Web use cases and focuses solely on improving encoding. It is best used as part of a Web encoding workflow. For a general JPEG library (e.g. your system libjpeg), especially if you care about decoding, we recommend libjpeg-turbo. mozjpeg ships two binaries that allow one to recompress JPEG files so that they become smaller: https://hacks.mozilla.org/2014/08/using-mozjpeg-to-create-efficient-jpegs/ I would personally like to use it in my web development projects, so Pierre, if you'd like to reupload your package to mentors, I will take a look at it.
