Bug#754785: Progress?

2015-01-26 Thread Samuel Hym

Hi Sergey,

Did you manage to make any progress on this ITP?

(I merged it with an old RFP for the same font, I suppose there is
definitely some interest in it, to have two wnpp reports… ;-)

Best regards

Bug#776178: ITP: python-xcffib -- A drop in replacement for xpyb

2015-01-26 Thread Klee Dienes
Wow!  Thanks for writing this!

I *just* finished a rough port of xpyb to Python 3, and you're right
that it's got a lot of issues.

https://github.com/BurntSushi/xpyb

I also recently ported xpybutil to python3 ... this weekend I'll try
it out against xcffib.

I note that you filed a WNPP and not an ITP for this. Is there some
way that I can help?

 That's probably because I am new at Debian packaging and screwed it
 up. I've uploaded a draft to mentors, any reviews would be much
 appreciated!

Bug#758238: renamed, released

2015-01-26 Thread Adam Borowski
Control: retitle -1 RFP: cool-retro-term -- eye-candy terminal emulator which
mimics old cathode displays

It has been renamed cool-retro-term. There are also actual releases:
0.9
1.0.0-RC1
1.0.0

The upstream provides a debian/ dir that produces a working package, but has
at least completely wrong debian/copyright.

There's also a number of bundled fonts with various licenses:
* ibm-3278: free
* apple2: non-free
* commodore-pet: non-free
* atari-400-800: no license
* commodore64: thoroughly non-free (probably distributable?)
* atari-st: no license
* ibm-pc-vga: no license
* envy-code-r: not distributable (explicitly!)
* fixedsys-excelsior: no license
* hermit: free
* inconsolata: free, already packaged
* monaco: not distributable (Apple)
* pro-font-win-tweaked: free
* proggy-tiny: free
* terminus: free. This is TTF, Debian has pcf only.

Some of these are good enough to warrant packaging on their own (rather than
just a dependency of c-r-t), especially the 3270 one (similar to the
in-Debian package xfonts-x3270-misc, except that it has nice instead of
bitmaps).

pinging the Debian Science list) before adding a package to the SoB Wiki
next time you want to get a package sponsored. My motivation to run SoB

into tasks is part of it.

Regarding the packaging: I noticed some issues in debian/control which
can very easily fixed by using Config Model Editor (cme):

I pushed the resulting changes - please inspect them thoroughly and try
to establish the habit to run cme fix dpkg-control. :-) (Feel free to
revert some formating changes done by cme if you do not like these.)

debian/README.source: Please remove this useless boilerplate or add
some interesting content.

debian/changelog: The latest changelog entry should close the ITP bug
and not any random previous version. I'd recommend to remove all old
entries and just leave the recent one - or alternatively set the target
distribution from unstable to UNRELEASED to make sure everybody will
understand that 0.7.1-1 is the first upload to Debian. I personally
would prefer removing entries which are irrelevant for Debian and as far
as I know ftpmasters who need to read all this are as well.

debian/copyright: It is really great if the upstream maintainer cares
for the Debian package as well. So it is correct not to use an extra

Files: debian/*

paragraph in d/copyright. However, I personally do this for
clarification issues. Feel free to ignore this hint and keep the file
as is.

debian/rules: Hmmm, other sponsees know that I'm a bit allergic against
remaining boilerplates. Doe you really think that your d/rules file is
a Sample debian/rules that uses debhelper? If yes, why don't you
provide a real working d/rules file for your package? :-P

Please let me know if you fixed these issue and I check a build.

Kind regards

 Andreas.

FWIW, the packaging is in Git [1], but I am not going to upload it
unless I actually need it (i.e. in mathjax or katex packages).

If someone else needs this package, drop me a mail and I will upload
it.

Hi Andreas,

unfortunately yes, it slipped my attention, too. I’ve finished building a

also added an entry to your “Sponsoring of Blends” list. Should I send a RFS
bug to the sponsorship-requests package, too?

Bug#776019: ITP: normaliz -- math tool for computations in affine monoids, and rational polytopes and cones

2015-01-26 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi Jerome,

since I'd consider this a nice fit for Debian Science I wonder whether
you might want to maintain this in the Debian Science repository.

Kind regards

Andreas.

   Description : math tool for computations in affine monoids, and

 Normaliz is a mathematical tool for computations in affine monoids, vector
 configurations, lattice polytopes, and rational cones.

 Its input data can be specified in terms of:
   - a system of generators or vertices;
   - a system of linear Diophantine equations, inequalities and
 congruences;
   - a binomial ideal.
 Normaliz computes:
   - the dual cone of a rational cone (in other words, given generators,
 Normaliz computes the defining hyperplanes, and vice versa);
   - a placing (or lexicographic) triangulation of a vector configuration
 (resulting in a triangulation of the cone generated by it);
   - the Hilbert basis of a rational cone;
   - the lattice points of a rational polytope;
   - the lattice points of a rational (unbounded) polyhedron;
   - the normalization of an affine monoid;
   - the Hilbert (or Ehrhart) series and the Hilbert (or Ehrhart) (quasi)
 polynomial under a Z-grading (for example, for rational polytopes);
   - Ehrhart series for semiopen cones;
   - generalized (or weighted) Ehrhart series and Lebesgue integrals of
 polynomials over rational polytopes via NmzIntegrate (also in the
 semiopen case);
   - a description of the cone and lattice under consideration by a
 system of inequalities, equations and congruences.

 Normaliz can be started from the command line or from the GUI interface: the
 user indicates the type of input data in an input file and controls the
 computation and the output via the GUI interface or command line options.

  Description : Java library to encapsulate constants in native libraries

Java Native Runtime (JNR) is a collection of Java libraries to make
interfacing with OS-level features easier. JNR uses an alternate
method to JNI or JNA to achieve programming simplicity while still
retaining performance.

The jnr-constants package gives Java programs access to platform-level
constants, for example errno values.
